The first Interim Secretary of Orlu Senatorial Constituent Assembly (OSCA), Owelle, Philips Anyakodo, has said that they are not in the least surprised by the good work Owelle Rochas Okorocha is doing in Imo State. Anyakodo, who is also the Managing Director of Niger Glaze Nigeria Limited, said that even before Rochas Okorocha became the governor of the state, he distinguished himself in all the fields of human endavour.

The Rochas I know

The Rochas Okorocha I know very well is a young man who is in politics to give what he has for the betterment of the society.Okorocha is one man that strongly believes that education is a weapon against ignorance, poverty and disease.

That is why before he became a governor, he gave thousands of people scholarship. So what he is doing now, he did not start it today. If you go to Imo State today students and parents are gladly singing his praise because he has alleviated their pains with regard to high tuition charges. For the first time in the history of Imo State, a governor is convening a parents teachers association and Nigerian Union of Teachers together to tell teachers that they should stop selling things in the school as a way of making ends meet, that they should face the up bringing of the teachers squarely, since their salaries would always be paid as and when due. In the area of infrastructure, I can say that the state is being transformed with the speed of a rocket

Sustaining the feat

Well, many people have asked me where is Rochas getting the money to do the wonders he is doing in Imo and how would he sustain it. But my answer to them is that a business man would always make the difference.

While other states are suffering is because they have former civil servants as governors. How can somebody who has not paid salaries to people in his life, have never managed fund do well as a governor? All he knows is bureaucracy which does not allow things to move. But Rochas has employed thousands of people to work in his own organizations.

He has a scholarship scheme. That is why when he came in ,he discovered that giving scholarship to students in all the tiers of education would not be a problem because ,he has been doing it. He has been a very successful business man. He knows the things that can work and those that cannot work. Therefore, those who feel that he is biting more that he can chew should give him a break.
