Conduct Bureau to Charge Shekarau

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has revealed fresh plans to charge a former governor of Kano State and presidential candidate of the All Nigeria's Peoples Party (ANPP) in the 2011 general election, Ibrahim Shekarau over allegations of corruption.

The bureau said it withdrew initial charges against the former governor so as to conclude investigation on emerging facts against the former governor.

Chairman of the bureau, Sam Saba made this known yesterday in Abuja during a one-day special children's forum in commemoration of the 2012 children's day celebration.

He stated that more facts would be established on the allegations against Shekarau very soon.

Saba noted that the bureau had gathered enough facts to indict him.
"You will hear about it very soon, we have been able to gather more facts," he said.

He also noted that the bureau's experience with corrupt public office holders had not been inspiring, but said its financial intelligence unit was keeping up with the task of tracking their financial transactions.

Speaking on the significance of children in anti-corruption crusade, Saba said there was urgent need to provide quality education for every Nigerian child, so as to enable them compete favourably in the global scene.

"There is therefore an urgent need to provide effective quantitative and qualitative education for the Nigerian child. If we do not check the rampaging effects of corruption now, there will be no future for our children and could jeopardise the bright future of Nigeria," he added.
