Interesting. I think we can all remember that Tambuwal was indeed in Oshogbo recently when, oddly, he refused to side with the machinations of the SW PDP against Aregbesola. We can't read too much into it, but Tambuwal's action of rejecting the mischief of his fellow PDP members to side with Aregbesola , via saying emphatically Osun was peaceful, could be something else .

2015: Northern Govs plan new party to battle Jonathan, PDP

• Lobby South West leaders for alliance, offer vice president
• Consider Gov. Aliyu or Tambuwal for President

THE stage is obviously set for buildups to 2015 General Elections. The northern governors and elders have clearly declared their goal. The language has been expressly defined but the Northern oligarchy has the concealed the platform on which they intend to achieve their goal from Nigerians and the international community. President Goodluck Jonathan's admonition penultimate that politicians should not overheat the polity because of 2015 was not in vain. It was a clear response to the chains of clandestine political activities towards 2015 General Elections, some of which have manifested in the polity in recent weeks.

National Daily investigation discovered through a reliable source, who sought anonymity, that the '19 northern governors', irrespective of political party affiliation, have purportedly resolved to register a new political party on which platform a northern presidential candidate for the 2015 Presidential election would be sponsored to confront the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and unseat President Goodluck Jonathan.

Our source disclosed that this plan was what Governor Babangida Muazu Aliyu, Chairman of Northern Governors Forum (NGF), and Niger State Governor, was indirectly telling Nigerians a fortnight ago after the recent meeting of NGF, when he said that “Northern have resolve to forge a united front towards 2015 irrespective of political party affiliations.” Our source further revealed that the northern Governors also considered using the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as alternative political platform to execute their agenda and ensure the victory of a northern presidential candidate in 2015 if the proposed new political party is denied registration. The northern governors were said to have co-opted some northern religious and traditional leaders to lobby political leaders in the South West for alliance with the region. The Northern oligarchy was also said to be trading off the position of the vice president to the South West in 2015. “There is intense lobby going on now both within the North and across the country. The plans are still subject to consensus among all governors in the northern region because there is apprehension that the so-called northern minorities might not want to subscribe to what they construe as renaissance of Hausa/Fulani hegemony in Nigerian Government and politics,” our source said.
It was gathered that about 10 PDP governors have allegedly perfected plans to dump the ruling party and join a new political party seeking registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or defect to ACN to contest the 2015 General Elections. Our source revealed that most of the governors would be completing their second tenure in 2015 and would want to proceed to the National Assembly, though he declined to mention names of the governors. This was said to mark the beginning of the plan to emasculate and wrest power from the PDP in 2015.
Our source further disclosed that the new political party the northern governors are sponsoring for registration would membership of reputable political actors from the PDP, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), ACN and some other political parties to form a strong alliance.
Our source revealed that consultative and horse trading meetings are being held in several states of the federation where critical issues were raised on how to dismantle the PDP in 2015. He added that many northern governors have informally met constantly to discuss the issue and champion a new course for the region and the country in general, particularly, the return of the President to the North. He said that several meetings initiated by a governor from the North West geopolitical zone were held both in Oshogbo, capital of Osun State, and Lagos, as well as overseas and all the meetings had many northern governors and top politicians in attendance. According the source, “all the governors that attended the meeting accepted to dump PDP and embrace the new party that would project northern agenda and fight for a common goal.” He boasted that they will not allow what happened to CPC/ACN alliance in 2011 to repeat itself. “PDP destroyed the accord between CPC and ACN last year. We won't allow that to happen again. We have become politically wiser today. Nigeria belongs to all of us; we can't allow PDP to destroy Nigeria before we take action. The level of looting that is going on in the country is not what we can bear anymore. We have made enough preparations to uproot PDP from all corners of the country in 2015” the source declared.

Another Chieftain of the proposed new political party told our Reporter “that nothing will stop the new party from wining the next general elections,” adding that, “PDP had already destroyed itself internally going by the way it selected its new national leaders at the last National Congress. The party may seize to exist before the general elections.” He reiterated that about 10 PDP governors from the North have endorsed their readiness to dump the party and join the new party. He also said that two prominent politicians from the North that enjoy enormous support from the northern traditional rulers have been penciled down to contest the presidential election in 2015 against President Jonathan. “Without controversy, we have chosen the Governor of Niger State, Aliyu Babangida and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, to contest the presidential election. We have the support of ACN and the Southwest governors; we have given the Vice President to the South West. We are constantly in touch with other leaders across the country, we are asking well meaning Nigerians to join us in this fight for change and get rid of PDP which has destroyed the country over the years,” he declared.

A serving member of the House of Representatives and a staunch member of the projected new political party told this Reporter that, “every plan of PDP members to perpetuate themselves in office will hit the bricks in 2015. It has been brought to our notice that President Jonathan wants to continue in office or if the polity is overheated, plans to handover to the Senate President, Senator David Mark, and Ike Ekweremadu, as his plan B.
On our own part, we will not accept that. We will make use of younger politicians that have the interest of the country at heart, we won't allow anybody or body of persons to destabilize the country in the name of governance.” He went further to say: “the fuel subsidy saga in January, did not only give us the opportunity to re-organize our alliance, it has also widened the scope of our chances to fight PDP and win peoples' support. We have gone round the country, met with opinion leaders, students, leaders of market men and women, their opinions are not different from ours. Nigerians are crying, dying on daily basis, it is our duty to rescue this ship before it finally sinks.”

It would be recalled that since the controversy over the emergence of the Speaker of the House of Representatives which was at variance with the decision of the PDP leadership, Right Honourable Aminu Tambuwal had been romancing with the leadership of ACN. There are insinuations that Tambuwal has purportedly held secret meetings with the National Leader of ACN, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, though it was not confirmed whether the meetings were in relation to the 2015 Presidential election. The Speaker was reported to have also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola, recently, what many construed as strategy to cement his relationship with South West political leaders. Our source however revealed that Tambuwal is the more preferred person to be anointed for the 2015 Presidential ticket because he appears to have greater national networks and perception of issues than Aliyu.

It was also gathered that the new political party being purportedly sponsored by the northern governors would be closing its doors to old politicians. The party is to be steered by young and dynamic politicians that can promote national interest, our source summed up

Any northern quest for presidency in 2015 is doomed to fail.O-gbawe,these days, you sound so much like those confused people in ilorin who are not really sure of their ethnicity anymore, people who dont know whether they are yoruba or fulani.I dont think the real osun people are like that.imagine the excitement over people like aregbe and tambuwal by the likes of O-gbawe.very ridiculous self-inflicted and self-perpetuated servant-master relationship which saw the SW lose ilorin/okun yoruba to the north is surely not about to end soon.with the help of people like O-gbawe,aregbe should be able to ceed osun state to the northern caliphate.with O-gbawe in osun state, osun people surely do not need an external enermy, they already have one within.

It is a good idea to support younger politicians for president. I pray the plan work out so as to fast track the imminent disintegration of nigeria.

The Yoruba had better stick with what they feel comfortable best - let them call it regional or whatever, as long as it serves our objective of good governance.

I will not trust any of these northern politicians as far as I could throw them.

When they have openly come out to declare their manifesto and their candidates and abandoned PDP it would be time to decide whether they are good for us.

Otherwise, I see a betrayal that will make OBJ's 2003 stab in the back child's play.

Again, I say let them leave PDP if they feel so strongly about it.

Lest anybody misunderstand me, NEGOTIATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS ARE GOOD, but they cannot sit inside PDP and be offering ACN VP.

Remember how the governor of Nigeria's 37th state (SLS) lambasted the short-sighted SW politicians, and the "far-reaching" manuevours of the northern politicians.

Enough word for the wise - don't fall for OBJ, GEJ, and the northern political head-fake. Anyway, I trust Tinubu's wisdom for now.

O-gbawe, osun state indigenes are disillusioned over the snail paced state of affairs in their state, while the ex-cultist, amosun is planning on constructing air-conditioned foot bridge in Ogun state as agberos and area boys meeting venue. At this rate AC.N will certainly lose those states in the next election.

Rather than focus on that, you are frothing in the mouth like stale beans and screaming sai tambuwal all over the places over an offer of VP positiuon for SW by an imaginary party!

O-gbawe, who did this to you?

The usual clannish fools showing they are cursed and indoctrinated to the point they can never speak with decorum or without personalising issues. No surprise you guys want to treat every discussion with bellicose immaturity. I submit an article and you cursed creatures are ranting like rabid dogs. Can you not focus on the article and leave it at that? Or better go and attack those , from you homes , who indoctrinated and damaged you mentally to the point you are unable to move beyond an obdurate focus of looking for trouble everywhere and against everyone not from your 'clan'.

Please take your clannish idiocy elsewhere because lords knows I am the last person interested in discussing with you hateful and bellicose 'damaged goods'.

This is an article probably with a mission of putting Tambuwal's ambition out there. While Tambuwal may indeed be seeking support and alliances with others, I don't think he will be accepted as Presidential candidate in an alliance with others. He cannot just leave the PDP, because it is assumed GEJ has taken over the Party, and walk into the Presidential slot for a newly created alliance with other Parties who have their own sagacious and popular candidates already in place.

I think the article is interesting in so far as it reveals that Tambuwal has Presidential aspiration but the rest of what is submitted is just perhaps rosy talk to insinuate Tambuwal is making 'headways'. I remember distinctly in 2006-2007 when Kalu wanted to contest against Yar Adua et al. An article came out detailing Kalu's ambition and stating he had the endorsement of the USA because "he already had structures on the ground" ahead of others. We all knew that was not true and Kalu,in reality, had no chance whatsoever but at least we discerned that he had Presidential ambition.

It is similar here. Tambuwal has to do the work and the 'courting' - and it appears he has already begun this. Others, as good politicians, are obligated to listen to his proposal. Nonetheless, the CPC and ACN will not be foolish enough to throw out their own plans to now support a PDP decampee however high profile. If the Northern Governors settle on Aliyu or Tambuwal, or indeed anyone else from the PDP, they will have to do their own thing and not think they can use the platform of those who are convinced they can oust them anyway.

My brother, there is no need to worry about any "betrayal". Tambuwal and Aliyu can hatch all the plans they want and give subtle hint publicly. No one in the opposition, at least not politically, will entertain their frustration and 'dash' them a platform. It will probably only get worse for the PDP and I said it somewhere else that the infighting of all the power-hungry factions will be a serious advantage for an opposition that has properly prepared itself to capitalise on the malevolent machinations of those in the "nest of killers" against each other.

this is the beginning of the end of the president of the Ijaw nation, the Retardeen himself.
Am simply ok with anything that will bring about the end of cluelessness and stupidity in governance.
Above all, the destruction of the killer party, PDP is highly welkom.
