Akande, Tukur, Onu, Others Form Ex-governors’ Forum by Nobody: 10:10pm On Jun 17, 2012
Nigeria’s former state governors have formed a group known as the Former Governors Forum.
Some of the former governors are the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur; that of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Bisi Akande and their counterpart in the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
While Tukur was the governor of old Gongola State in the Second Republic, Akande was also the governor of Osun State.
Onu, on the other hand, was the governor of Abia State during the short-lived Third Republic.
Our correspondent gathered that the caucus of the group including Tukur, Akande and Onu, met in Abuja on Friday night.
The former governor of Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, who was elected the chairman of the forum said the group was formed to enable its members continue to render services for the unity and development of the country.
He said, “We felt that it would be better to organise an all-embracing former elected governors forum from 1979 when presidential and governorship elections were held at both federal and state levels till date.
“Every former governor who was approached showed interest and applauded the idea.”
Nwobodo who said the forum would have a large number of eminent Nigerians if well harnessed, added that the coming together of the former governors would be of tremendous advantage to the country in all aspects of governance.
He said, “As patriotic and very responsible citizens of this country who have been at the helm in all federating units of this country, we owe our people a duty to contribute our quota by way of advice on the good governance, development and well-being of our country.
“There is no other avenue more suited than coming together, reminiscing about the past and contributing to the present circumstances.
“This forum will give us the much-needed opportunity to come together to have bipartisan approaches to some serious and fundamental issues and challenges facing our country, and proffer solutions irrespective of political divide and ideological leanings.
“We owe it a duty to do whatever we can to promote unity among our people and we can only do that when Nigerians know that this rainbow coalition of this great nation acts with nationalistic zeal.”
Other former governors at the meeting included Mr. BoniHaruna, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Chief Olusegun Agagu, and Mr. Wilberforce Juta.
Also in attendance were Alhaji Lawan Kaita, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, Alhaji Saidu Barda, Mr. Abubakar Audu and Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Adamu was elected the chairman of its five-man team saddled with the responsibility of working out how to formally inaugurate the forum.
Other members of the committee are Nwodo, Haruna, Mr. Clement Ebri, and Senator Ahmed Makarfi. http://www.punchng.com/news/akande-tukur-onu-others-form-ex-govs-forum/

Hmmm, Jim Nwobodo Forum.

They are out to grab some billions from "subsidy money" throwing everywhere by the government.

Another kind of Yoruba Council of Toddlers or useless Northern Elders Forum. Many many groups with no meaningful contribution. Worthless people.
