So, what other native language aside yoruba can you speak?
You are very good in hausa.I should think i'm weaker btw you and I.
Re: Sanu Nku Jamaa [Hausa-speaking thread] by Odunnu: 3:29am On Nov 05, 2010
I learnt 'ci baki' from you. Previously,I may have said 'sha baki'.
'Malaika' is pronounced 'malaiku' different frm the regular greeting 'maaleiku'
I had to ask my aunty what 'rungomeni' was! Kai Dayo, you'v gone far o.
Re: Sanu Nku Jamaa [Hausa-speaking thread] by dayokanu(m): 3:41am On Nov 05, 2010
I learnt Hausa as a corper in 2004. And since then I havent had the opportunity to speak it. I didnt learnt formally it was basically from all the maganna banza I learnt from my student. e.g

Meyasa kanada biro a baki nka? So bo da ai kama da bura ne (Kii ga ne- Do you understand)

I never left the South West until 2004 when I went for NYSC for 1yr.

So you dont know chinbaki? you dont know rungomeni? Do you know "ina so Bargo me jini"

It was a combination of many things, I chose to be closer to the villagers and they gave me some indigo babes who didnt speak much English so i had to learn.

2. I was always hanging out at night with some dan-iska. and we would be yabbing ourselves.

I was always had to translate whatever I was teaching my students from English to Hausa so they can understand.

I remember one day I wanted to abuse them and I said "Ba nda kwakwalwa" instead of "Ba shi ne kwakwalwa"

I also learnt some words of Tangale language and Cerwa language of Bauchi and Gombe states. Basically the ones to toast though I forgot them long ago.

Ki zo ki yi berci a daiki na, Akoi sanyin anan, Ina so bargo me jini
