A Federal High Court on Monday restrained the Federal Government from renaming the University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University.

Justice Stephen Adah granted the interim injunction sought by students of the institution and other aggrieved parties on the matter.

He, however, adjourned hearing on the suit till July 4.

The litigants had filed a lawsuit against the university’s governing council, the senate, office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and the National Assembly.

President Goodluck Jonathan had on May 29 renamed UNILAG after the late Chief M.K.O Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, who died in prison over a decade ago.
