A Member of the House of Representatives representing Apapa Federal Constituency, Hon. Babatunde Jimoh Adewale has said that the reason why he is sponsoring a bill on pension and gratuity for legislators is to reduce the incidence of corruption among legislators.
In his words, “If the legislators have the guarantee that they would be getting something till death; the oversight function would be thoroughly done, because most of this issue of corruption on the part of legislators is because of the fear of tomorrow. 
“But if the legislators should be enjoying this like the executive are enjoying it, definitely it will reduce corruption because people will have rest of mind that they will have something to fall back on; oversight function will be carried out very thoroughly and you will be able to do your job very diligently and you will be happy to be a legislator”.
Today, greed has overtaken our Hon members o! Sitting allowances, contituency allowance, unused constituency project fund, monthly salaries, severance, furniture allowances and others appears not to be enough o! Have they really given back to the society what they have been taking?

Let them invest in their tomorrow with the enormous allowances they are collecting. who else collects sitting allowance? who also collects constituency funds? abeg jor! if civil servants ask for sitting allowance now,the bill wont even reach the door of the house talk more of 1st reading.Nonsense!

This is rubbish !.this lawmakers are greedy,unresponsive and insensitive,I wonda the kind of selfish individuals that are representing us.are dey not aware that even in the public service,u have to serve for a particular period before u can be pensionable .this people think we are happy with the jumbo salaries and allowances they take home on regular basis.

These legislators again! Acting like SUG Parliamentarians in one of our universities. So it is the absence of pension that pushed Hembe, Farouk, Etteh, and others to collect bribe abi? Imagine about 360 Hons, 109 Sen. being payrolled from 1979 to 2012 and boyond. Don't forget that their money is always in millions. Lol. What a move. They want to further deplete our treasury. And the mover of this motion is an ACN member. Recently an ACN Governor sent his wife and wives of politicians and legislators to UK to go and learn how to support husbands. Greedy legislators. How on earth were thy expecting the government to place them on pension and gratuity. Haba, it's like they are forgetting that they are elected representatives to serve in office for a period of time. So the exorbitant sitting allowance and other allowances they recieve is not enough for them to plan their future on? Then civil and public servant should also request for sitting allowances now.
