Middle Belt Youths Blast Former Senator Waku Over Attack on CAN President Posted: July 20, 2012 - 23:11 The Middle Youth Forum today in Abuja blasted Senator JK Waku over his criticism of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) national president, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on his address to the United States Congress. “We wonder why the likes of Waku, always make themselves available as willing tools for use by mischief makers and agents of destruction who feels that this country must only exist on their terms,” the Forum said in a statement sent to SaharaReporters. “Our hearts bleeds when people like Waku who ought to be a shining example to the younger generation, turn their back against their people in their most trying moments.” Asking where Waku has been while Boko Haram bombed the innocent, the Forum challenged him to declare for whom he speaks. It said, “What Oritsejafor told the US Congress was the true position of things as it affects Nigerian Christians. The forum therefore, condemns Waku’s recklessness utterances against the leader of Nigerian Christians. The patriotic youths of the Middle Belt are proud of the CAN President for rising up to the occasion on matters that affects his people. We call on the authorities to keep vigilance on the activities of elements in our midst that are out to destabilise this country.” [Full Text of the Statement]: “The Middle Belt Youth Forum notes with grave concern and disappointment the unfortunate, but reckless and irresponsible comments credited to one Sen. Joseph Waku, vice chairman of an organisation known as Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).Against the leader of Nigerian Christians, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor over the later's address before the United States Congress’ Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights. We are baffled that Waku, a Christian (if he truly is) and indeed a Middle Belter could make such unwarranted comments on the leadership of Christians in Nigeria, knowing well the activities of the dreaded Islamic terrorists known as Boko Haram which has been bombing and killing innocent Nigerians, especially Christians in the northern part of the country.Waku's outburst presents him as a desperate agent paid by his masters to execute an agenda. “We wonder why the likes of Waku, always make themselves available as willing tools for use by mischief makers and agents of destruction who feels that this country must only exist on their terms. Our hearts bleeds when people like Waku who ought to be a shining example to the younger generation, turn their back against their people in their most trying moments. As far as we are concerned, Waku can never be as more patriotic than Pastor Ayo. This revered man of God is a man of truth and courage who love Nigeria more than the likes of Waku. A good leader is one who can boldly and courageously stand up to speak for his people when the occasion demands. We are proud of Ayo for boldly coming out to speak on the challenges Christians in the country are facing in the hands of terrorists. “Where was Waku all these while when Boko Haram kept Bombing and killing innocent citizens? Does it mean he never saw anything wrong with their activities or their determination to plunge the country into religious war? Where was Waku when Alh. Tanko Yakasai, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, Sen. Kanti Bello and other core Northerners insulted the person and office of the Senate President, Sen. David Mark, to the extent that Alh. Yakasai refered to Sen Mark as a fool? Where was he? Let Waku be sincere with himself. Between Pastor Oritsejafor and Boko Haram whose activities have capacity to cause disintegration of the country? The CAN president was speaking for Nigerian Christians. Who is Waku speaking for? Is he speaking for Boko Haram or who? Let him tell us who he is speaking for. “What Oritsejafor told the US Congress was the true position of things as it affects Nigerian Christians. The forum therefore, condemns Waku’s recklessness utterances against the leader of Nigerian Christians. The patriotic youths of the Middle Belt are proud of the CAN President for rising up to the occasion on matters that affects his people. We call on the authorities to keep vigilance on the activities of elements in our midst that are out to destabilize this country.” |

Waku has always been a sell-out so why am i surprised? I'm sure if he loses a family member to Boko Haram he will still defend their activity. |
