Abia industrial city to gulp $1bn – Consultant
As at date, the Abia state government has donated 250 acres land to an international project firm, Abia International Industrial City, ABIIC Project, for the take off of the project aimed at articulating and harnessing the many talents that abound in the state.

This will cost the firm about $1 billion as the state government would not contribute anything except land.

Speaking in Umuahia, on Tuesday, in the Government House, the chairman of the company, Felix Babatunde Obada, said the project would bring small-scale enterprises scattered all over the state, especially in Aba, together and encourage them.

“We will build an industrial city where they would do their work without power interruption, and be able to move their goods outside quickly to international airports, and linking them up with PH airport through the monorail we will be constructing,” he said.

According to him, those who will come in there will own their properties and will pay by installments, while we will aid them through the monorail and expand the existing land rail for easy transportation, linking major cities in the country.

Obada said that the much of the funding would be coming from China, their foreign partner to the tune of 70 per cent.

The investor also revealed that the company would also delve into bio-fuel and solar panel issues when they come on board.

Speaking, the state Governor appreciated them for being in the state to add value to the state, which he said abound with talents from God.

The project, he said is welcomed as it is one that will not cost the state any money, which of course the state doesn’t have.

He pledged the assistance of the state towards the project, stating that the state is not free from kidnapping, “which is now an investors’ haven.”

It would be recalled that Felix Babatunde Obada is the husband of the Defence Minister, Erelu Obada, and was alleged to be the person who put Nigeria’s first satellite in the orbit.

Okay. A Chinese firm needs land to build a billion dollar industrial cluster. Do we add this as one of Orji's achievements? I see a case of Sab Miller here.
