Job satisfaction is the most important in every career , since you have stated your passion, try to follow your heart, beside money is not everything, you need to balance your career as well with your family. you are working because of your family. If you look at it very well you will see that with that 90k and accommodation it will better off than lagos. It will save you of traveling all the time to see your family and even the Lagos expenses couple with paying for your two accommodation both in Lagos and where you family resides if you look at it very well. You work because of your family not the other way round. It's so appalling to hear of chartered institutes springing up everyday. I just saw one now that claims they're the Chartered Institute of Commerce. Since when did commerce become a professional discipline in Nigeria? Seems they've turned the whole thing to money-making ventures where people are clipped of their hard-earned money all in the name of being chartered. I wonder if tomorrow we won't hear of Chartered Institute of area boys or madmen. Na wa for Nigeria o!

Politics / Prove That I’m A Thief •ibb Dares Nigerians by dove24u(m): 4:29pm On Apr 17, 2010
FORMER military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, has challenged Nigerians, particularly his critics to prove that he is a thief.
The former military president recently made public his resolve to contest the 2011 presidential polls, following which allegation that he had explanations to make over the way he allegedly mismanaged the $12.4 billion Gulf War windfall came from some quarters against him.

Babangida, who had a chat with airport journalists at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport on Friday, said whoever had anything against him should be ready to prove it, saying he could not be distracted from pursuing his presidential ambition.

His words: “I am glad you said distractions. If you call me a thief and you can prove it, you know what to do, not to make noise about it, go ahead and prove it.”

The former military president, who remained unperturbed by the antics of his political detractors on his ambition to lead the country again come 2011, indicated strategies to win the forthcoming poll.

Babangida noted that he would employ the platforms, including the voting public and the political party under which platform he would be running.

He said he would fall on these options if he was unable to achieve his goal under the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The former military leader, who agreed that he touched many lives in his eight years rule across the six geo-political zones, said this would be a requisite for winning the next year’s election.

He expressed his belief in using his experience to bring Nigerians across ethnic and religious divide together as one cohesive entity by delivering the dividend of democracy.

“I believe that it is true and I have the requisite experience to make it come true,” he reiterated.

Mixed reactions have continued to greet the plans by the former leader to gun for the number one seat in the country next year with his political enemies crying foul over the ambition while his loyalists across the nation have described him as the best candidate the country requires now.

In pursuit of his ambition, the former military leader has embarked on consultations across the country to sample opinions and strategise as elections draw nearer.

The General Overseer of the Evangelical Bible Outreach Prayer Ministry International, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has implored Nigerians not to bother themselves about the political aspiration of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, saying that the hand of God was not upon him and could never rule Nigeria again.

Speaking with newsmen in Jos, Prophet El-Buba said Babangida was simply dissipating his energy and resources in vain, adding that those whom God had not chosen could not force themselves on Nigerians, as leaders, otherwise they would incur the wrath of God.

The general overseer stated that all the hardship being experienced in the country currently started as a result of his bad style of leadership, induced by high level corruption.

Said he: “The pains of Nigerians originated from Babangida through his bad economic policies. He messed up the country and institutionalised corruption. If he cannot change the phase of the country as military president with such an enormous power, there is nothing he can do in this present situation.”

“The most important thing is that God has rejected him; the hand of God is not upon him as far as 2011 presidential election is concern. He is simply dissipating his energy and resources in vain,” he said.

Prophet El-Buba said the circumstances surrounding the emergence of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as the acting president of Nigeria depicted that the hand of God was upon him and advised him to steer the affairs of the nation in line with the desire of the common people, adding that his commitment to pursue energy and electoral reforms was a welcome development.

According to him, his name would go down in history, if he can show full and total commitment to the sectors as one of the great leaders of Nigeria.

He added added that to achieve this, the acting president must shut his ears to those parading themselves as godfathers.

The clergyman condemned those clamouring for power to remain in the North, adding that the era where the North thought it could go it all alone as far as leadership of Nigeria was concern was over. He scaid what the nation needed now was a leader that could address the myriad of problems confronting the country.

“We the North should not think we have the monopoly of power, we cannot do it alone. It is high time we put aside the mentality that the vote of the North can make any candidate become the president of this great nation.

“All what we need as a nation is a good leader no matter where he comes from, a leader who can pursue the need of the common man,” he said.

Politics / Policeman Killed Him After Accusing Him Of Stealing Laptop. by dove24u(m): 2:28pm On Apr 10, 2010
If Monsuru Akanji had known that he was going to be detained and subsequently lose his life over his own property, probably he would have constantly been moving around with the receipt of the item.

Last Tuesday, Monsuru, a 30-year-old former student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, died after he was allegedly tortured to death by a police Sergeant (names withheld) attached to the Testing Ground Police Station in Ibadan over an allegation that he stole a laptop valued at N65,000.

The father of the deceased, Mr. Rasaki Akanji, while speaking with Saturday Tribune in his house in Monatan area of the state capital on Friday, said that his son was tortured to death by the policeman.

Mr. Akanji, a pensioner, said he was at home on Monday around 9:40 p.m., when the policeman and four others including his son arrived at his residence.

According to him, the policeman had asked him to identify the suspect, which he did.

“I told them that the boy, which they put in handcuffs, was my son. He was said to have stolen a laptop belonging to one of his friends, Dele Dare, who is a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State.

"I asked them if my son was the only suspect and they claimed that there were other suspects,” he said.

The policeman reportedly told the deceased's father that investigation had taken them to the house of another suspect, Adisa Tijani, whom, the deceased claimed, was aware of the laptop.

The elder Akanji said that in his presence, his deceased son was beaten up by the policeman, saying that even when the deceased was asking for water and food, the policeman refused to oblige him.

Mr Akanji, who was crying while speaking with Saturday Tribune, said that when he got to the station, the deceased was sleeping on the floor and was very weak, while complaining of pains all over his body.

“The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) did not give Monsuru any form of food till 11:00 p.m. He asked us to come back the following day, Tuesday. We left the police station at 12 midnight,” he said

According to Mr. Akanji, when he and other members of his family got to the police station around 9:00 a.m. on

Tuesday, they were told that the IPO was not around.

“We were there till 6:30 p.m. When I went to the main desk at the station, we were told that the deceased was not in the cell and the IPO was not around too. I later met the Station Officer, identified as Mr.Samuel, who confirmed that they had not seen the IPO since morning.

"Later, he said they were told that the boy fell ill in the night and was rushed to the hospital for treatment."

According to Akanji, he, along with some other people with him, went to the state hospitals at Adeoyo and Ring-Road, where they were told that the deceased was not there and they returned to the police station.

On getting back to the station, they were asked to come back on Wednesday where the Area Commander and the Station Officer confirmed to him that the boy was dead.

“It was at this point that I demanded that I should be allowed to see my son and the Area Commander asked eight policemen to escort me to the hospital mortuary. We saw the body of my son with marks.

“The policemen had to run away when they were aware that their presence was being recorded by some mediamen who were at the mortuary to see the corpse,” he added.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the IPO brought the body of the suspect to the mortuary at about 8:14 a.m. on Tuesday. It was learnt further that the medical personnel initially refused to admit the deceased until the Area Commander came to identify the policeman, who was not in uniform and had no police identity card with him.

An eyewitness, Mr. Taiwo Yusuf, a trader at Monatan, told Saturday Tribune that when they got to the station on Tuesday, the deceased was found hanging and that it took the intervention of some people before the IPO could untie him. By the time he did, the deceased was tired and unable to stand up on his feet.

According to him, they were pleading that the second suspect be released when the IPO reportedly demanded that they should pay N10,000 for bail and that after “negotiation,” they allegedly settled him with N5,000.

The father of the deceased, while calling for justice, called on the state police commissioner to curb the recklessness of his men, investigate the incident and ensure that the culprit was brought to book.

However, the Police Public Relations (PPRO), DSP Olabisi Okuwobi, told Saturday Tribune that no suspects was tortured to death.

Reacting to the incident, the police image maker noted that the man was only a suspect in detention, who suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital where he died.

She said that the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Baba Adisa Bolanta, had assured that no stone would be left unturned in unravelling the circumstances that led to the death of the suspect as they were awaiting post-mortem examination. cry cry cry
