I implore that you consider a number of things. Comparison to one's friends or co-workers is an anecdotal--not an empirical--reference. If you were a professional basketball player for example, then all of your co-workers (and a fair number of your friends) would all be much taller than average. Or, it could be that you just happen to be acquainted with a fair number of tall people. There are those who are, likewise, friends and acquaintances with those who are less lofty than they. And to compare family members is equally misdirected for the simple reason that there is much shared genetics in consanguineous families. Either way, height is just a number. It's a measurement that means nothing about you as a person other than how far the top of your head is from the bottom of your feet. It doesn't mean you're more or less intelligent, caring, compassionate or able than anybody else. |
May I ask, killsmith, why you wish to be taller? |

Greetings, my friends! I've not posted in a while, but I did wish to reconnect with you. Rest assured that I've missed you! I realize that there is an area designated for those who are followers of Islam, but I, myself, am not Muslim. Out of respect, I have chosen not to post there. I do, nonetheless, wish the most joyous and blessed Ramadan for those who do. And, of course, I do so not at the exclusion of other faiths, but rather, as my personal embrace of all beliefs and faiths. I hope that you've all been well, and continue to enjoy good health and happiness! And, I promise to be back to posting with a bit more regularity! |
I am so very saddened to learn of this great tragedy. My friends, please know that my countrymen and countrywomen here in the United States share in your grief. We shed many tears with yours. |

I see that sauer used "facetiousness." Fine word! I'd like to use "facetiously." It uses not only all five vowels (plus the occasionally used vowel, "y" , but it also uses them in alphabetical order! |
@sexkillz: Yes, I now know the meaning of "pammy," but it was a very unfamiliar term to me as recently as last year. Thank you, though! I appreciate any and all assistance as I navigate my way around the site! ![]() I could list any of a number of words in Nigerian Pidgin, as it's a language that I don't speak at all. ![]() (Not yet, anyway! ) |
@ StarFlux: LOL! I'm Canadian by birth and live in the US, so I'd never heard the word "oyinbo." Needless to say, I have quite a bit to learn about Nigerian culture. Indeed, I've encountered MANY unfamiliar words, here. Another one of which is "pammy." |

It makes me happy to see that so many of my friends here at nairaland.com are happy! (Especially the charmingly chilly iice! ) |
Well, certainly one of the longer ones would have to be the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscle. And, curiously enough, it's not a large muscle! 1 Like |

@iice & tpia@: Thank you! I thought, perhaps, it might have been an old, traditional recipe of secret seasonings and things like that. ![]() |
