It was a painful scene this evening in ibiono Ibom local government area of Akwa Ibom State where two brothers where seen fighting which later resulted in one killing one .

According to eye witness. The incident happened in ibiono ibom few minutes ago. A brother used a kitchen knife on his brother’s chest. According to the sister to the victim, the two guys were just fighting when one of them entered the kitchen and picked a knife. People tried to stop him, including his sister. But he managed to escape from them. He then used the knife on his brother. When more people came, he tried running away. But he was caught. They kept the Guy’s body on something, and he was ordered to carry it on his head to the police station. He carried it to some extent and dropped it. He wanted to run away, but they caught him again and dragged him to the police station finally.

I became quiet cos I was under that same bridge”
The Ojuelegba Bridge is temporarily shut to traffic this night, June 19, 2018, due to a simulation exercise carried out by NEMA, LASTMA, the police, the FRSC and other agencies of government.

A gallant female operative of the Nigerian military who is currently on a peace mission in Mali, has been honoured by the United Nations for her outstanding service.

Peacekeeper: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres decorates Amodu
Cdr. Olufunmilayo Amodu, serving with the UN Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), has been decorated with medal for her outstanding service.
She was decorated with the medal by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday.

The UN will also honour three fallen Nigerian peacekeepers on June 1, at the UN headquarters in New York.
They are Lt. Col. Ali Suleiman, who served with the UN Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Others are Warrant Officer Remmy Amakwe, who was deployed with the African Union–United Nations Mission in Darfur; and Mr Kolawole Shogaolu, who served in a civilian capacity in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali.

NAN reports that the honour is an acknowledgement of the contribution of Nigeria to UN Peacekeeping Operations to ensure global peace and security.
The decoration was part of activities to honour the service and sacrifice of peacekeepers around the world to mark the 2018 International Day of UN Peacekeepers.

Guterres also awarded a medal to appreciate the outstanding service of Maj. Mohammad Khan from Bangladesh, a military staff officer based at MINUSMA Force headquarters.

Speaking after receiving the award, Amodu said: “The medal is very important. It symbolises what it is to be a peacekeeper at MINUSMA. Receiving it from the Secretary-General is a very unique privilege.

“The terrorists are not relenting in what they are doing. And obviously, we are not backing out in what we have come to do”, she added, underscoring the worrying security situation in Mali.
She further said: “The UN is all about peace. And when there is peace, there is development.

“When there is peace, there is promotion of technology. When there is peace, every other thing works the way it should work.

“And for any person who would want to join MINUSMA, you should have at the back of your mind that when you are coming, it is to support the peace process.”
NAN reports that more than one million men and women have served under the UN flag, saving countless lives just as over 3,700 blue helmets have paid the ultimate price over the past seven decades.
Troops with the mission have increasingly become the target of attacks.

Meanwhile, Guterres attended a ceremony at MINUSMA’s base in Bamako where he paid tribute to fallen peacekeepers and laid a wreath at the memorial inside the camp, engraved with the names of those killed in the service of peace.

“Dear peacekeepers, you have demonstrated that you are capable of all forms of sacrifice. For many of your colleagues, this has meant the supreme sacrifice of giving their lives to protect the lives of Malian civilians.

“I want to thank you very much for this effort; these sacrifices, to pay tribute to you, and to say how proud I am to work with you.

“As peacekeepers, you are the foremost symbol of the United Nations itself”, Guterres said.
Also, Mahamat Annadif, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Mali and Head of MINUSMA, said that honouring the fallen “warms the hearts of their comrades and encourages us to continue to defend even more resolutely the values of the United Nations”.

Guterres was accompanied on his visit to Mali by Under Secretary-General for Field Support, Atul Khare, Head of UN Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, and the Executive Director of UN Children’s Fund, Henrietta Fore.

He was received at the airport by Malian President Ibrahim Keita.
He was also scheduled to meet with Keita and other Malian officials as well as UN officials working in the country.

UN has declared the north-west African country as the most dangerous place in the world to be a ‘blue helmet’ as 21 troops and seven civilians serving with MINUSMA died in 2017.

The Nigerian Police have shortlisted 37,062 Nigerians for examination in the latest round of its recruitment exercise where only 6000 will be employed.


In a statement Monday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) disclosed that the Force have shortlisted 37,062 Nigerians for examination in the latest round of recruitment exercise, adding that the candidates were selected out of 133,324 applicants earlier shortlisted for screening.

According to PREMIUM Times, spokesperson for the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, who made the announcement, said the examination would hold on May 25 at Computer-Based Test Centres all over the country.
The centres are available in all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The development is the latest stage of the recruitment exercise which began with physical and document screening on May 7.

Six thousand candidates are expected to be recruited at the end of the exercise.
Successful candidates from the screening exercise have been informed via text messages and emails to attend the examination at their respective designated centres on May 25.

Candidates who are yet to receive any invitation are required to check with the police command headquarters in their state for the date, venue and time for the examination.

They could also check their details by logging on to the PSC website: www.psc.org.ng.
“Candidates are required to come with their biometric and data capturing slip to the examination slip”, Mr Ani said.

“They will not be allowed to enter the examination hall with electronic devices such as spy eye glasses, telephone hand set, calculator, wrist watches and camera.”

“Persons not invited for the examination or who do not have the biometric and data capturing slips are advised to stay away from the examination centres,”he added.

It was very terrible this evening at Atani road junction onitsha as a heavy truck crushed a young man to death.

At the time our media crew rushed at the scene, the lifeless body could not be identify by anybody but lately a resource person told us that the family has come and identified the body.

Meanwhile people of Anambra especially those who live very close to the scene are advised by the security agency to stay calm and go on their normal businesses.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of plans to rig Ekiti governorship election.

Fayose stated this while hosting the Political/Economic Chief, United States Consulate, Mr. Osman Tat, during a courtesy visit to Ado Ekiti.
He told the envoy of plans by the All Progressives Congress-led government to use its federal might to rig the election.

“They are planning to rig the election because they know that in a transparent and credible election, the APC cannot win in Ekiti State.

” We are popular and our party, the Peoples Democratic Party, is popular because of our performance in government and my brand of politics.

“In 2014, I defeated Dr Kayode Fayemi, even as he was the sitting governor then. The United States applauded the 2014 election and even recommended it as a benchmark for the 2015 general elections because it was transparent and devoid of violence and intimidation of voters. Tramadol is an extremely strong painkiller given to patients who are in extreme discomfort when other traditional painkillers stop working.
It is available by prescription only and comes in tablet, capsule and liquid drops that you swallow.

It works by stopping pain signals from travelling along the nerves to the brain to ease any discomfort a person might be feeling.

Tramadol is quite often given to patients who might be in pain after major surgery or to people who have long-term conditions such as arthritis.

In addition to reducing feelings of pain, opioids slow down respiration and breathing to help you relax. But taking too-high doses of opioids like tramadol can slow down breathing to the point you stop breathing completely and suffer an overdose. Taking tramadol as directed is crucial to preventing an overdose and other adverse symptoms that can occur when misusing or abusing this drug.

1. Seizures

Serotonin syndrome is a group of symptoms that occur when the brain is exposed to high levels of serotonin, such as that caused by drugs and medications that spike serotonin levels. Studies have shown that using tramadol on its own can cause serotonin syndrome, though the risk increases among those who also use antidepressants, and illicit drugs such as cocaine, MDMA, and LSD. Common symptoms of serotonin syndrome include tremors, confusion, and muscle spasms.

3. Swelling under the Skin
Tramadol use can cause a condition known as angioedema, or swelling under the skin. Though rare, angioedema can happen to anyone who experiences a severe allergic reaction to tramadol. One study found that tramadol can even cause massive swelling of the tongue and protrusion of the tongue through the mouth, along with swollen vocal cords.

4. Insomnia
As one of the most common side effects of tramadol, insomnia poses a number of serious risks that can compromise your overall health and livelihood. Insomnia increases your risk for accidents, impairs your judgement, and doubles your risk for death from heart disease. Lack of sleep also disrupts your natural hormonal balance, and increases the risk for depression, cardiac events, diabetes, and cancer. Research has even found that going without sleep for 24 hours produces effects similar to that caused by having a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.1%.

5. Allergic Reaction (Anaphylaxis)
Some people who use tramadol may experience a life-threatening allergic reaction to the drug known as anaphylaxis, which can occur as quickly as a few minutes after use. Hives, swelling, rash, difficulty breathing, and shock are common symptoms of anaphylaxis, though symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and fainting may also occur. 6. Suicidal Thoughts
People who have a history of suicidal attempts and addiction are at far greater risk for suicide when using tramadol. In 2010 the FDA added a warning to all tramadol products advising doctors and patients about the risk of suicide when using tramadol. This warning was issued after the number of tramadol-related deaths increased in those with histories of drug use disorders and suicidal ideation.

7. Dependence and Addiction
Along with all other opioids, dependence and addiction are one of the more serious tramadol side effects. Those who use high doses of tramadol can become tolerant to the medication, and require higher doses to achieve the drug’s effects. This can cause the body to become physically dependent on tramadol, which in turn, increases the risk for addiction. A person who becomes dependent on tramadol will experience a set of withdrawal symptoms when reducing their doses, or when attempting to quit the drug cold turkey.

8. Withdrawal
Those who stop using tramadol abruptly or who lower their usual dosage amount will experience a set of tramadol withdrawal symptoms within 12 hours of the last dose. The DEA reports that 90% of tramadol users will experience traditional opioid withdrawal symptoms, while the remaining 10% may also experience symptoms associated with reduced levels of serotonin and norepinephrine.

Common opioid withdrawal symptoms include:

Sweating
Muscle and body aches
Abdominal pain and cramping
Diarrhea

Insomnia

No fewer than 20 suspects have been arrested by security operatives in Akwa Ibom State for alleged involvement in cultism, illegal possession of firearms and other nefarious activities barely two weeks after the proscription of 33 cult groups in the state by the state government.

Also, it was learnt that the military Joint Task Force (JTF) killed at least 18 suspected criminals during the raid of their hide out in Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Odiko Macdon Ogbeche, disclosed arrest of those with dangerous weapons yesterday, while explaining efforts of the command to contain crimes in the state.


He revealed that 17 of the suspects including two policemen, two University of Uyo (UNIUYO) students and a 29-year-old phone repairer at the Ibom Plaza round about, Uyo were among those arrested and now being prosecuted by the command.

According to him, one of the policemen, a sergeant, reportedly attached to the Ibom International Airport, his colleague also a sergeant, a security aide to a member of the state House of Assembly have been charged to court.


He said the two students of the UNIUYO who were a second year accounting and third year philosophy undergraduates, were also put on docked and put on trial.

“We are the people who arraigned them; our ground men on combat operations arrested them in different parts of the state,” the PPRO stressed, adding that the command was also mopping up arms as directed by the Inspector General of Police (IG)”.

They suspects, who were arraigned on a two-count charge of terrorism and illegal possession of firearms before Justice Archibong Archibong, at the Uyo High Court, have admitted being members of the proscribed Ku Klux Klaans (KKK) confraternity.

Justice Archibong said the alleged offences contravened section 6 of Akwa Ibom State Internal Security Enforcement Law 2009 and section 6 (1) of Firearms Special Prohibition Act, Laws of the Federation 2004.

The case has been adjourned to May 3, 2018, for further hearing and cross-examinations of the suspects.

In another development, the Military Joint Task Force (JTF) has arrested two suspects with firearms in Ukanafun Local Government.

Sources alleged that those arrested were said to have led the JTF to their hideout in a forest in Ikpe community in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, where they rounded up several others and killed about 18, while trying to escape during the raid.
