I have passed through Houston and Chicago POE both for birthing purpose and i didn't have a birthing visa for any of them. I didn't spend more than 5minutes in any of the POEs.

I have said it here before, when you appear before these people, answer questions with as much information as u can. Don't beg for questions. Its a way of controlling the conversation. With good preparation, you should be able to predict their next step and be ahead.

Its doable but not advisable sha.
Even the point of exit of Chicago is like passing through the Lion's den! Over 10 immigration officers with dogs at the entrance to the plane! Haba! Kilode! Not for the faint hearted sha.
Babatwi:

Ha! The almighty Chicago. It has been said here times without number that Chicago and Houston are not for the faint hearted. And some people will come and write here that all poe's are the same. I'm almost certain she would have been able to scale through Jfk if she had tried jfk.

Family physicians are licensed to take deliveries too. They can do almost everything not complicated. I don't think that is why he was flagged. Maybe some shady deals.

yinks13:
Nawa o! but they should have stoped him from practicing what he isn't specialized in. As a Family physician doing the job of an obgyn.

Search the thread u might find something. Not many people use Maryland. Too pricey. The money she will spend for hospital there can cover hospital, accomodation and even shopping in the other popular states. Choose wisely.

aladejohn:
Hi House,

I say write the letter. Be it change of intent or notification of intent, sha write! You really have nothing to lose. Leave all the grammar here, save the grammar for POE where u will present ur case. Infact it helped me in Chicago POE.

She is travelling alone on that trip, so that will be a NO

You will apply for B1/B2.

Good evening house, trust we all had a good day.

Please advice, my wife wants to apply to go give birth in the US but i wont be applying with her at the moment because of a business project i am handling in Benin....However, i will later on to join her before she give birth.....

My question: There is a section that says, "ARE THERE OTHER PERSON TRAVELLING WITH YOU?" do you think she should choose YES OR NO?

Also, when i am ready to apply, what visa category should i apply for?

I look forward to your assistance everyone...

Good morning Sisters! i am back again. I have been solo as belle no gree come but God has answered me ooo. My hubby don give me belle. This time we saw a strong heartbeat..i believe is viable. My current visa is expiring next month and My hubby is having his convocation in a school in the USA by August. The plan has been ongoing to renew our visa based on the invitation the school sent. Since we plan using drop box for renewal, I want to mention it to USA embassy that i am currently pregnant and i planned also using this Visa for childbirth early next year in addition to this graduation ceremony. I have financial evidence to back it up though no doctors correspondence as i am yet to make any contact and to finalize all that since i am just few weeks gone.

Please advise me on the best way to go about this renewal...I want them to know that i am currently pregnant to avoid any misunderstanding at POE next year.

Please help a Sister!

Sorry about the denial.
This interview was actually terrible.
Your responses gave room for your nailing.
These interviews are really short. Every time u open ur mouth, u should give them concise but enough information. You should have told them what makes ur pregnancy high risk instead of leaving it open and begging questions.

Besides that 'better healthcare' line has been overused. Might be annoying. Be creative.

You being a housewife and student didn't help u either.

Re-apply in Lagos. Prepare ur answers better. Let's assume u filled ur forms well. Best of luck.

Kbek:
My visa was denied.
Vo: why are you going to the US
Me: to have better medical care cause am pregnant, and my pregnancy is a high risk pregnancy
Vo : what do you do,
Me: homemaker and student.
Vo: I don't believe you, cause you are too young to have a high risk pregnancy.bye
Please what did I say wrong. And how soon can I reapply.

Use one of them to complete the application and only submit the one that is complete. It is the number u submit that they will open. It's no big deal.

olulumdp:
My people, how are you guys?

Can anyone advice me on this? - I filled the DS 160 form and something came up which i thought i might not be able to come back to it within a month, so i saved it to my computer. However, all things fine i had to proceed to filling the form so i uploaded from my computer back to the PORTAL.

To my surprise, i got to know that the form Reference code for the first one is different from the one i got after uploading. Now i have 2 different code that works for same form.

Can i choose one out of it and proceed to completing the form?

I hope this wont affect my application?

High risk ke! Very funny. God dey.

That is why I like clearly written packages.
I would always recommend a hospital that offers all inclusive deals vis a vis obgyn, pediatrician, anaesthesia etc. Not to be getting scattered bills up and down. Infact u pay before hand and chill. No surprises here. You sign the contract and u are at peace. U can sign the contract on day one and return during Labour sef. You are covered.

TripleKMama:
Life happens. Even in naija grin
I've attended to many pxts first time ever during labor and u never see dem again! Just classify all of dem as High Risk.
Mnwile FYI, all of us from naija are termed High Risk no matter d volume and weight of d lab tests u brot!
Edited- dats why I started by asking if her preg has been smooth so far. And d previous one.
Abi no be d same person? grin

I think the length of stay here could be a problem. Almost 6 months with a job?
Do you have enough ties back home or your whole family is suppose to travel with you? That could be a red flag coupled with the fact you stayed very very long.

All the same, I agree with Lagos. Try your best to control the conversation during the interview so that u can supply the salient infos that will help your application.
This is difficult, but it can be done smartly. Best of luck.

Send to both Lagos and Abuja. The Lagos reply was better to me.

Riri26:
Dear All,

Following my last post regarding the change of intent letter, I sent an update of intent to their Abuja office and got an automated reply giving me answers to some Frequently asked questions and asking me to resend my mail to their Lagos office if it relates to an immigrant visa case. I really dont know if this is the generic response or if I should still write the Lagos office. Is the automated reply sufficient?

I will really appreciate your input on this.
