Your parents didn't train you well. I believe you're worse than that lady. I can send my international passport to you. I studied pharmacy in Cyprus.
Okay. I believe you. But try to not let your emotions get the better of you when responding to comments. Have you ever seen someone deported for not switching off their phone as ordered by a lecturer?

Well, am not saying the lecturer took the right actions though because slapping her is out of it. But, if you've led a group of persons or be a teacher, you'll understand that lecturer's actions. If he pardon her, trust others to follow suit. If I were the lecturer, the best was to send her out of the class though
I understand you. I was once a teacher and I am a manager in a multinational. Now imagine that my subordinate does something and I slap him. Although, what he did was disrespectful, it does not matter where the conversation is had, I will be at fault because I didn't manage my anger, I left my emotional intelligence back home. I will be suspended, if not terminated on the grounds of abuse. For instance, if when the lecturer was doing what he was doing, the boy fainted or something close it, what would have happened?

Hope you know even in planes, a defaulting individual is forcefully taken down when they refuse adhering to instructions, no refund is done too
for better context, who forcefully takes the person of the plane? Security, the pilot or air hostesses?

Understand that forcefully taking someone off the plane is done if the flyer in question becomes violent or shows signs of mental illness and violence is always the last resort.

Nigeria isn't a developed world, no matter where you are , you conform to the rules of that area or location, if you were told at your work place to switch off your phone , would you refuse?

Same phone you bought with your money doesn't give you the right to do as you please in certain environments. Because you want to visit a friend in the barracks and you are told not to use your phone after the person receiving you is on his way , would you say because you are an adult you won't obey?

The situation the student found him or herself in is just for a brief period of less than 2hours and she still has the option of putting it in silent mode or airplane mode or better still put it back on immediately she goes back to her seat.

Obedience isn't hard
this is what you don't get. The context here is different. I own my phone, you would not beat me because I chose not to turn off my phone. Unless you tell where it is in the constitution of the school that a lecturer can slap a student because they didn't turn off their phones. There are no grounds for that lecturer to have hit the student.

For better context, you are on a plane and they tell you to put your phone on airplane mode or switch it off and you do not do it. They'd calmly tell you to put the phone off or on airplane mode and if you don't, they will escort you off the plane. That's in a sane society.

I have attached the screenshot of what purportedly happened and judge for yourself.

You are an example of lack of home training. The lecturer should beg her? If she was in the USA and a lecturer ask everyone to switch off her phone will she argue? They will deport her. Is this how you will train your children? To be rude and disrespectful? I weep for you and your seeds.
I am not sure you have left the shores of Nigeria or understand the reason why they deport people. This comment of yours shows that you are very uninformed and deficient intellectually.

Deportation is usually become you have overstayed your visa or you committed a crime.

And you think any court will do that?
Even activist won't support her. If she had obeyed, it would have been a different case
has it gotten this bad? What is the difference between that lecturer that slaps you to switch off your phone and the armed robber that slaps you to collect your phone? Do you know what is called self respect? The lecturer is several years older than this guy and he has to resort to fighting the young chap?

Why didn't she obey first
reading most of the initial comments is very appalling. First, the 'she' is a he. Secondly, I am an adult, why do you want me to switch off my phone in the university? Three, why are you assaulting me because I didn't not switch off the phone I bought with my money. Fourthly, he could just have sent the erring student out of the class. There is no difference between that lecturer and a thug. If he does that in a developed world, he will be jailed.

Lukgaf:
Similarly, starlink's availability in Nigeria brings hope for a more connected future, especially for students and those who have been limited by the high cost of internet access. I believe this will pave the way for affordable internet, making it possible for more individuals to have access to educational resources, including my Yorùbá mathematics classes. I'm looking forward to reaching a wider audience and sharing my knowledge with more students.
About the more connected future, I agree but starlink is still too expensive for the Nigeria market. A guy at Abeokuta did a small expose on Twitter. The total cost to buy and setup was about 400k and a monthly subscription of 48 dollars (if I am not mistaken) is not student friendly or affordable in my opinion.

If you aren't a fan of kolanut, try any of this predator, fearless and other
please don't try the energy drinks, they are bad for your health. Please try and rest well during the day ( I believe you work in the night) so that at night you would feel sleepy. But if it's necessary you take something that will keep you awake, depending on your body system, I will suggest Lipton or black Coffee.

I wonder the kind of people establishing schools nowdays, for you to be a proprietor or proprietress of a school you need to have studied EDUCATION in school so as to have the clear understanding of how to handle your school and the entire staff, my friend made some comment on some of his students report card and he is in trouble now
these are some of the comment.
He is not active in class
She keeps gang in the school
He is a truant.
She is rude and not respectful, those are some of the comment he made, and the proprietor told him to go and apologize to the parent for the comment made on their children's result,
the guy has refuse and has been fired for nt apologizing.

Whats your opinion on this?
did you get any comment that made your parent to be mad at you while in secondary school?

For good measure, wisdom is the principal thing.
for example.
He is not active in class could be - "He could do with participating more in class"
She keeps gang in the school could be - "I will suggest the company she keeps is vetted" and so on.
He is a truant - " He needs to improve his attendance in class"

My point is we basically said the same thing but my choice of words were chosen carefully. I mentioned where they need to improve on rather than calling them names.

the title is a click bait and improperly structured. The story itself is that "the plan to arrest Sunday Igboho is the biggest threat to peace and stability."

TV/Movies / My Opinion Of The Movie: Citation. by Gbadebo01(m): 12:13pm On Nov 12, 2020
Disclaimer: This contains spoilers embarassed

So I spent two days watching Citation and this is my opinion of the movie. The movie opened with a scene where a lecturer solicited sex from a female student so her score can be changed but eventually, the lady had the lecturer set up; the lecturer got the beating of his life and in a bid to escape the beating and gross embarrassment, he ran into road and got crushed by a car. This background sets the mood for the movie.
The plot is about an intelligent young lady, Morèmi (T'emi Otedola) whose dream was to be in the UN, possibly, be the UN secretary-general, some day. And an equally brilliant but disturbed lecturer, Prof. N'dyare (Jimmy Jean-Louis) who was on exchange from another institution. Prof. N'dyare picked an interest in Moremi as she was very brilliant for someone so young. This interest grew into sexual advances then escalated into full-on sexual assault. Which she sought to prove in the face of overwhelming odds
The female lead, T'emi Otedola, for a debut, did a good job. I saw her character as rather phlegmatic in nature as she didn't 'emote' as much I would have liked. In the scene where she brought out her torn panties and the scene immediately after, I had expected her anger to match her words. On another note, her Yoruba was all over the place that I felt that she was self conscious and slipped a bit out of character in the scenes that required that she spoke Yorùbá. However, in my opinion, her command of the French language is magnificent, no more no less!
Jimmy Jean-Louis did an amazing job as usual but that hairstyle of his, is so unflattering, it looked more like a cap than hair and also that armpit hair which I think somehow added to his overall persona as a disturbed person, is 'unhygienic'.
The school setting was lovely. I feel the essence of the school (OAU) was captured especially that beautiful library. In comparison, I have watched countless movies shot in a university and still looked like it was shot during an epidemic.
The script writing was superb for me, the home work was done. The conversation between Morèmi and Prof. N'dyare sounded cerebral and had several emotional undertones. Especially, that scene that had the Kevin carter photo and the Morèmi Ajasoro story. In comparison, I watched two installments of a Nigerian 'blockbuster' action movie which felt like my childhood police and thief play brought to life in the same manner as we did during my child hood, no structure, no script, no preparation! Probably woke up one morning, called a few friends together and decided to act a movie the next day. Jeez!! May we all be merry though.

Sitdown! that was the most memorable scene for me. This was where professor N'dyare was cut down to size; it was at that time a flaw showed up in his otherwise calm and calculated demeanor: where his chest of manipulation and well thought out malaise seemed incompetent.
On a last note, it gave me a psychological thriller feel towards the end of the movie which I appreciated. The twins, the cheerleader characters, as I would like to call them, are totally unnecessary in my opinion. They did provide a tiny bit of comic relief though. The martial arts scene was also very believable, Gabriel Afolayan did a good job; i'd give it a 9/10. I am not sure if it was because I didn't expect that level of professionalism or I was used to seeing badly choreographed fight scenes in Nigerian movies but this was really good nonetheless. The Ini Edo character, Gloria, was a mixed bag for me, in my opinion, the movie could do without the character. I must add, however, in a real life scenario, most women achieving a lot at a young age have detractors like the Ini Edo character in their fold. One last thing, there were no kisses! Overall, it was a good movie I enjoyed watching.
