I agree with you. Its a very tricky situation. Mind you, the schools want your money and will be happy to allow you enroll and pay tuition fees and attend classes. CIC can still refuse you. Except if you are financially stable and willing to battle it out with IRCC with the help of an immigration lawyer. If not, egun gun has to be careful, cos na express you d go with your money.
In this debate, everyone is right, we just have to be more open minded!

Not only schools want your money, everyone wants your money (including me lol)....so focus more on proofing your genuiness and increasing your chances ok? Obviously the advise wasn't intended for everyone...but those who have an open mind....do a situation analysis, focus on your pros and cons, then decide.

Please be guided.. online study without atleast study permit approval will not have effect on the decisions of IRCC couple with the high study visa denial rate at the moment..let all be wise using this approach
Is there a valid proof that it won't affect or influence the decision? An applicant is advised to put his or her best foot forward.

Apllicants obviously still need to do a tight application free of loopholes, my advise is for the genuine, smart and risk tolerant people who meet other requirements of eligibility (they know themselves).

I am not quaranteeing that the approach would lead to an approval if you don't play your part....the approach only increase your chances & give you an arguable edge against the Vos in cases of appealing a decision of denial too.

For instance, my first application years ago to Canada was first denied due to an error on their end & l refired in 2-3days, with proof and also a letter of unjust refusal with more proof and l got issued a study permit in 3weeks!

Think l am just talking? Please refer to my post from years ago, it won't be a long dig as l haven't posted much.

One thing l know about the Canadian culture in my opinion is confidence, sorry to say (absolutely no offense meant) most Nigerians are scared, they rely on begging to get things done (Canadians dislike begging), some Nigerians show the previously mentioned in their application (SOP/LOE) how Canada is such a privilege and leave out the love for their country (Nigeria), hence their desperation is perceived instantly.

If l were an applicant, l would take the risk but it isn't compulsory though. Those who has gotten denied several times, l bet it hurts, when you know you are genuine! What are you gonna do about it, wait? Or take the risk...your choice.

Either way you would be ok, because God knows best!

Let us be cautious about this online study stuff..it is advisable to have a study permit or approval before u can enroll to study online..I feel online study will have no effect on the decision of the vo's..it is better to wait for IRCC decision on your application before embarking on such
How do you then intend to proof your genuiness? I have seen countless genuine people get denied.

If applicants have questions and concerns, l advise they contact their school directly, each school have an international student advisor.

Besides the school won't be sending an option for online study to international student if they haven't made their findings....so do not deny yourself an opportunity because of fear!

I advise do your findings, contact your school if you are in the shoes of the concerned applicants.

This wasn’t written by IRCC and some of this information is not in their website. It was written by an Indian guy.
All the best though!
Please be aware that people work at IRCC and IRCC have representatives of different ethnicities.

The ethnicity of the writer shouldn't be questionable as l have clients in Canada of colour who work at IRCC.

So let's have an open mind, taking risk is only for the brave hearted. I greatly sympathize with applicants who got denied on the ground of not being a genuine student.

Take it from someone who has ordered multiple GCM files for people....so if something come up to increase your chances or show that you are genuine, why not take it!

I have seen the Vos even denying people with scholarship! So l advise applicants to keep their fingers crossed and do what they have to do.

Do a situation analysis, focus on pros and cons, scrutinize alternatives, have a contingency plan than to just sit down and leave things in faith.

You got to do what you have to, to succeed...it's a choice in proofing whether you are a genuine student or not....so the decision is up to applicants and remember the Vos are human beings too who work for IRCC at different locations.

So l advise again, please do everything, that can proof your genuiness, l repeat do things that proof your genuiness!

Yes I understand it is because the school gave a deadline to submit deferral or accept to start online classes before June 30th. I wonder why they are in haste.
I advise not to defer, the risk is worth it (they are in a haste because they don't wanna loose students)...they just wanna know what they are doing, make a budget and projections (the situation is a win win), please refer to my lengthy post & take advantage.

I wish you goodluck!

Hi All,

I haven't been here for a while, but l saw an update which moved me greatly to post, incase anyone has unanswered questions.

Warning this post is gonna be really long but it's worth the read, trust me (just a little way l can help, airing my opinion...l was once in your shoes, so l know how it feels!).

I think now is a great time to study online, if you are thinking of deferring, please do not as now is a chance to have an upper hand! I doubt if a vo can argue about the genuineness of an applicant who has started studying online. This can be escalated if there is a future denial, because l believe the Vos won't want to stir any drama in the air & in my opinion, if they were to refuse an app, after obvious studies has began online, it's really gonna reduce their credibility on refusing an applicant on the ground of not being a genuine student. A student who isn't genuine, won't take the risk but someone who wants to study, have absolute right to study online.

If l were in the concerned individuals shoes, l would act as follows:

1. My app is in progress, oh nothing is gonna change, l would proceed in opening up a webform with a proof of my intention or/and errolment online, to start online studies including attachments of whatever email l got from the school.

Web Form Link: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

2. My app hasn't been submitted category, even better! Put in the above info and your intention in your LOE.

3. I have an admission but haven't started the process, l am thinking of deferring. Please do not defer, l repeat....do not defer! Take advantage of this to improve your chances. I believe the risk is worth it.

4. I have no admission yet, my advise is to start applying to schools who have response rate within a month and start online! It isn't bad shooting your shots (people are still working from home in Canada, so let's hope for the best).

5. For those doubting and scared... please read the link below to see what's going on.

The verdict is that most countries like Canada are passionate about keeping their economy top notch, and international student are a good source of revenue! The online study option was designed to be a win win....just have it in mind that as much as you want to study, they want you to spend your money in their economy & boost it in the long run (there is no secret that international student are a good source of workers & permanent residency holders in future, people who schooled previously in Canada, are given an advantage to increase their chances i.e points towards future P.R & express entry app (talking from experience as l came in through studies too & it's been a bit of smooth sailing, that l literally feel entitled to somethings. Please note that getting into Canada is hard but when you're in, things get easier as long as you are focus & you break no rule).

Hi, love your write up. Am currently pursuing my phd here in Nigeria and hope to relocate to Canada when I complete my program next year. The issue is, how easy will it be for me to get a good job, cos my uncle who relocated with his whole family to Alberta HV not been able to get a job. He worked in Halliburton here in Nigeria but currently working as security in Alberta, mean while the wife was able to get a fairly good job there because he enrolled her in a diploma which she graduated from there.
Does it mean they don't really value our certs,? Much less if I come with a phd? Thanks
Ya l understand you, the truth is that the Canadian educational system is very rigorous, they drain almost every life out of you...(thier aim is to make you know it by fire by force(competency), to the extent that if someone just wake you up from sleep you must be able to still do your job because the educational system make it part of you). There isn't anyone that study in Canada that doesn't complain, at least the 1st semester is filled with so much complain.

Then back to your question, they recognize Nigerian certificate but they trust the training offered by thier instructors more because they know the whole system inside out. Sometimes things ball down to luck and prayers....if they offer someone a job, they rarely ask for much prove or visual certificate, they just watch you to see if you can do what you said you can do. #to manage all this or to improve your luck or the probability of you being offered a job is to go to where your skill is highly needed...not just any province because some skills sell more than others depending on where you are. #if you are into engineering or oil, then Alberta is your place, finance(with few licensing online courses and exams on ground)....Toronto is your major place. #so before you relocate, check for the job prospects and what they need combined with prayers and a little luck. #some professions require licensing (course and exam for competency, you might be lucky to get some exemptions) but keep your mind open for that because without such license, you cannot practice your profession hence you have to switch to do other jobs. #depends on your field #province #proffesional requirements etc

Tarry:

Actually even a medical doctor can do MBA, any profession can do MBA, that's why it is usually interdisciplinary, to help in setting up your own business in your profession. I know a man that made studying MBA compulsory for all his children which include lawyer and doctor but then those Canada VOs might not see it that way. You have to convince them in your SOP why you are going for the program
@Tarry is on point here, anyone can do an MBA...and anyone scared to go for it, should put his or her fear to rest because Canadians love an MBA, l repeat they LOVE an MBA....they even recognize it more than Nigerians, they carry it so so very high, close to a PHD not as high as a PHD though and with an MBA here, you are close to landing almost every job you apply for here. The reasons for it's high recognition and things to prove my points are below:

1. The cost (you pay for what you get, Canadians believe that if you can pay for an MBA and complete it, you are extremely serious and your head is there).

2.) One way of stimulating the economy is building businesses which in turn increase employment rate. Who else is going to handle a built business competently, if not for MBA candidate?

3.) After dealing with a field of study e.g engineering, accounting, computing, fishery....etc, you might wanna start up your own business and who is more competent to invest the knowledge of administering your own business if not you? So you going for an MBA have a solid ground because it's safer to invest in yourself than an employee who can leave anytime. #your intention to own a business someday is still a solid option.

4.) Some MBA requires experience which shows it isn't a child's play.

5.) An MBA have huge work load apart from the cost (the VOs would think more about the work load and the amount you paid....he or she would consider you crazy if you wana throw your money away....hence the status of a true student is established ( it isn't easy trust me, the Canadian educational system is draining and very stressful... it's very easy to give up, this is one reason why the VOs go for genuine students). Even my 1st program, half of the students dropped out because it was too hard.

Apart from the above stated reasons, l have had my ears down, close to 80% of people here wish/wana do an MBA (some people after thier original masters), and l know the exclamation l get from telling people l am doing an MBA. It's always like wow! 'l would wanna get one too someday but l want my company to pay for me blah blah blah'. I even had a lecturer in her mid 40s hustling to do her MBA while she taught us....and close to 50% of my course mates who didn't drop out of my first program wanna do an MBA in future after getting some work experience.

So still scared/skeptical to go for an MBA? Put your mind at rest...they value it more.

Worried your CGPA is too low e.g 2:2 (3point or a high 2:2 and above).... don't worry l know a school/university with a foundation course to address that in form of a PGD program (foundation) 1st...but you get an MBA admission letter (the whole program is almost 2years in total), the initial MBA is one year but any discrepancy you have an hope with the above stated route (2years program).

Scared to write a Gmat or you lack work experience, you can go the above stated route too. #feel free to contact me for more info. #mehn, l have written such a long post lol

You are welcome, my regards to your wife. You can also look into Express Entry (for Permanent Residency) after some time if you have some Canadian work experience + Nigerian work experience, your wife can give you some good points (with her education and other things) and your adaptability to Canada, if you have a full time job offer (that's even better!). This can be an option apart from your wife trying to get hers after studies. Who knows you can get yours first. #that's if you and your family don't want to go back to Nigeria after everything..which I won't advice anyone to...lol

Besides what's good inflow and outflow? What range ? Is 150k-500k enough?
I'm so sorry for the late response. Ya, I meant employment or whatever source of income. 150k - 500k per month can be enough when compounded yearly, depending on the tuition and other expenses. Your Sponsor must be able to pay despite the exchange rate. If I were a VO, I would calculate(based on assumptions) what your sponsor earns per month (including investment income), in relation to your fees and the duration of studies...exchange rates won't mean much to me because it isn't constant...I would focus mainly on the source of income and if it's sustainable or not (Like an employment income is sustainable). You get?

With the 219.9 naira to 1 Canadian, will this affect those who have applied with a lower exchange rate when calculating the proof of fund (available money) as the rate is now higher? could This devaluation make someone who has met this criterion before be refused for insufficient fund , assuming the person doesn't have surplus?
I don't think it will, as long as your Sponsor have good inflow and outflow. #I think they look mainly at the source.

Hello All,

Pls I need on point advice from all the gurus in the forum. I have a grant from a firm in the UK to study in canada. A company I do part time work for from Nigeria. They are willING to trsf the money into my account for my study in canada. Now my question is do they need to send their SOA? Or just a letter of offer of grant is ok. Since the money is going to be in my acct and I need to show my acct statement. Secondly i have a salary acct which i plan to add to my source of income, can I have the money from the grant transfer into my salary account or I should use another account. Pls help so that l don't make mistakes that l will regret.

Thanks
In my Opinion, the company doesn't need to send thier SOA, as long as the grant is genuine. The letter should be enough (hoping it is well detailed). You can include proof of some previous dealings (if you have that)....just a tie and a reason behind the grant.

Then the account you should use, should be the one with good inflow and outflow(must show at least 6months). If your salary account have a good inflow and outflow l suggest you use that. #Others can make more suggestions.

It's a company's document, to show it has been registered(incorporated) with CAC(corporate affairs commission). CO2 – Share Allotment Form, CO7 – Particulars of Directors. it shows the ownership and all that, normally when you incorporate/register a company it becomes a legal entity(like a seperate person from it's owner) on it's own, so the cac forms unveils who is behind the scene and other important things.(hope i didn't confuse you further?). #This can stand as a proof of ownership or source of funds/income....whatever the case might be. Please i need your help asap. my sponsor's tax clearance has expired and he is trying to get a new one but they said it's goin to take like 3weeks!. I really want to forward my application now. can i submit his documents without his tax clearance certificate? Thank you. Waiting for your response.
In my opinion what you should do is this, include a copy of the previous tax receipts, include as many as possible(if it's yearly, include that of 2010-2014, or if it's monthly or quarterly...include like 5/6 months), then you can explain in your LOE, that the present tax clearance receipt is being worked on & it takes a maximum of three weeks and you don't have that time to wait, so you included the ones of subsequent years(just a prove that he pays his tax). Then you can also include what ayooluwatoni, suggested....then make sure you show a strong proof of an established relationship with your sponsor.#that's very important.
