There is no where live shots or bullets are fired for the type of training or simulation you claimed they might be doing. More so, this is being done in an hotel in a residential area. And it is important that they obtain clearance from a govt agency or security agency prior to conducting such simulation. In fact, nothing stop the local security agency from being an observer when such simulation are conducted. Go to the countries these NGO are from, you virtually have to get a clearance or license from a local city council to conduct certain activity in the city. Unfortunately, Nigeria is where anyone can go into and do as they like as if govt does not exist. For me to drill ordinary borehole in my backyard, I will have to get a permit from the local city council. So, conducting such simulation should require a permit so that the govt is aware of what's going on around the city. That's the way organized society operate.

Politics / Press Statement: Clarification On The Humanitarian Workshop On Safety On The Wo by Jimwalex(m): 6:32pm On Jun 27, 2021
This is clarification on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/6622197/zulum-suspends-acted-ngo-caught

June 27th, 2021

As an international non-governmental organization (NGO), ACTED is known and respected globally for its principled actions and for operating in strict compliance with local government rules and regulations in all 38 countries where we are present. ACTED complies with the Nigerian law and regulations, requirements of the Borno State Government, and all other requirements of the Government of Nigeria. ACTED will strive to maintain the highest level of transparency, trust and cooperation with the Nigerian authorities at all levels and remains committed to providing critical humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable populations in Borno State. In 2020, ACTED supported 110,000 people in Borno with food and livelihoods assistance, and constructed more than 3,000 shelters. Through the distribution of Shelter and Non-Food items and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Services, ACTED directly supported 78,000 internally displaced persons in Borno State.

Over the past year, while providing critical humanitarian assistance to the people in the Northeast and other parts of Nigeria, our staff and partners have found themselves in very dangerous situations where their safety and security were severely compromised: in May 2020, an ACTED contractor was abducted between Maiduguri- Monguno road, and tragically killed while in service; in March 2021, ACTED staff faced imminent danger during an attack while providing humanitarian assistance in Dikwa; in April, the ACTED office and warehouse in Damasak were attacked by armed groups, and large stocks of humanitarian supplies meant for the people in need were destroyed. Given this fragile context and in compliance with international best practices, ACTED must exercise its duty of care for staff, and make every effort to ensure the safety and security of its staff. This includes regularly organizing trainings and simulation exercises, such as the one held on June 26, in order for them to be prepared to cope with unexpected security incidents. These simulation exercises are standard procedures for many NGOs, both in Nigeria and globally and in no way, neither during those exercises nor during the delivery of assistance, does ACTED carry weapons, in   line   with   international standards and   its   dedication   to   uphold principled humanitarian action.

ACTED reiterates its commitment to maintain a high level of cooperation with the Nigerian Authorities as well as the highest levels of transparency towards the authorities and the people we serve.

ACTED also present its compliments to the Governor of Borno, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Zulum. His leadership and guidance to the humanitarian community and particularly to ACTED, in providing support for the successful implementation of humanitarian activities in the North-East over the past years, are highly appreciated. ACTED relies on the support of the Nigerian Government and all its departments at both Federal and State levels, to facilitate the humanitarian assistance we are providing to the people in Nigeria in line with humanitarian principles and Government priorities.

ACTED.

Lalasticlala could you please do the needful and move it to the front page? Thanks

Who is this Ahmed Salkida again?

That name rings a bell

Ahmad Salkida is a renowned investigative reporter with over 20 years experience in conflict and development reporting. He is regarded as one of the best knowledge experts on the decade-long Boko Haram insurgency. He has done groundbreaking reporting on the multiple conflict situations in the Lake Chad region, a territory overshadowed by terrorism and famine.
Politics / Acted Ngo Is Not Arrested With Weapons Or Training Firearms Shooting by Jimwalex(m): 10:14am On Jun 27, 2021
Sequel to the thread posted yesterday about ACTED an iNGO in Maiduguri https://www.nairaland.com/6622197/zulum-suspends-acted-ngo-caught.

I thought the world need to know the real situation as written in the following article and I hope lalasticlala will do the needful.

*ACTED NGO IS NOT ARRESTED WITH WEAPONS OR TRAINING FIREARMS SHOOTING*

Assalamu alaikum,

I see the importance of writing this piece at this time, in order to clarify the problem involving *ACTED INGO in Borno*.

As Izala First Aid Group, JNI First Aid Group, Fitiyanu First Aid Group,  Christian First Aid Groups working in the churches, Nigerian Red Cross, Scouts, MAMSA, etc. teaching parade and other exercises using rubber guns, wooden sticks, and other self-defense training are practiced. To minimize casualties while in dangerym, This is exactly what ACTED staff are found doing.

All NGO/INGOs are have training exercises teaching sessions on how to run when you are stopped by Boko Haram, Bandits, Kidnappers, etc  while you travelling for an activity.

The name of this training course is called HEIST and HEAT. The Nigerian government and the rest of the world are aware of this, and are satisfied with its teaching.

In Nigeria, there are non-European private companies registered to teach HEIST and HEAT simulation trainings of safety, and running while you are in danger. For more information, you can contact private organisations such as Kings Guard, Halogen, PR24, Gada World, Spearfish, etc.

This simulation exercise conducted by ACTED staff, coincides with a wedding ceremony on the side of the house where the ACTED staff is carrying out this simulation training exercise. The wedding gatherings can hear shoutings from the ACTED staff.

Then one of the so-called "role players" was spotted with a rubber pistol (a rubber pocket pistol that we buy for our children in our domestic houses or toy guns) and those present at the wedding thought it was an armed robbery incident.

People shouted and sarrounded the house. Presence of Europeans and Nigerians brought suspicion that they are teaching firearms shootings.

The CJTF and the Police from GRA Police Division of Maiduguri came immediately and searched the compound. What they found was a rubber toy gun that you can be found in our personal residence.

Luckily, the police were aware of such games but blamed the mistake of not informing them before the commencement of the exercise.

Among the residents of Circular Road, where the said former hotel and ACTED Guests House is located, a community leader called the Borno State Governor on phone informing him that they heard gun shots from an NGO Guest House but the police that are responsible of investigating the matter are trying to conaive with NGO to change the narrative.

The military and the police have no problem with such trainings, because as Security Professional bodies, they have full background knowledge of HEAT and HEIST.

The second thing that made the trial even worse, was the insinuation that ACTED is a French INGO.

All allegations of French Government providing support for terrorism in Africa and French are considered as anti Islamic State, have been labelled against ACTED staff in Nigeria.

This was the reason behind closure of the Guest House closure and the suspension of ACTED activities by the Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

ACTED alongside OCHA and INGO Forum, All NGO organisations and other stakeholders are working tirelessly to engage Borno State Government and subsequently issue a joint press release according to sources.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact them for clarifications.

@freegaza,greygoblings et al, you guys need to see this and call the attention of the moderators for the needful. Thank you!

Islam for Muslims / Aishat Yesuf: Cursing Her Justifiable Or Not? by Jimwalex(m): 6:40am On Nov 01, 2020
..Let's Look at What The Quran and Hadith Have to Say.

Whatever I am going to write will be based on evidence from the Quran and Hadith..and Allah knows best

Yesterday Aishat tweeted, “I heard I am being cursed in mosques! People finish praying and take time out to curse me in their prayers!"

Like, seriously? You finished your salat and took time out to specifically curse your fellow Muslim? For what? That she protested against the authority? Admittedly, it is ARGUABLY against Islamic jurisdiction to protest against the authority but was she really protesting against the authority or against police brutality and oppression? Of course, against police brutality and oppression.

The prophet (S.A.W) in his last sermon said,

‘O people, you are all descended from Adam and none is higher than the other except in obedience to ALLAH. No Arab is superior to a non-Arab. Between Muslims there are no races and no tribes. DO NOT OPPRESS AND DO NOT BE OPPRESSED.’

Now, let's assume what she did is against Islamic teachings (which is subject to debate, anyway), It is not permissible for a Muslim to curse a specific person, animal, or even evildoer or object by name let alone your fellow Muslim. Allah (S.W.T) says:

“Not for you (O Muhammad, but for Allaah) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the Zaalimoon (polytheists, disobedients and wrongdoers)” [Quran 3:128].

So the decision to punish or forgive her is entirely for Allah and not for you!

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was told, “O Messenger of Allah, pray against the idolaters!” So the Prophet said:

Verily, I was not sent to invoke curses, but rather I was only sent as a mercy. (Sahih Muslim 2599, Grade: Sahih)

A certain Kannywood actress, Zainab Abdullahi even asked Northerners to kill her! I wonder how she thinks she is a better Muslim than Aishat. Her case is for another day.

Those who indulged in curses will not be granted the honour of interceding or witnessing on the Day of Resurrection.

Abu Ad-Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Those who indulge in curses will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Resurrection. (Sahih Muslim 2595, Grade: Sahih)

Likewise, If a Muslim curses another person who does not deserve it, then that curse will return against him.

Abu Ad-Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, when a servant curses something, the curse rises to heaven and the gates of heaven close upon it. It turns right and left and if it does not find somewhere to go, it will return to that which was cursed only if it deserved to be a curse, otherwise, the curse will return to the one who made it.
(Sunan Abu Dawud 4905, Grade: Hasan)

I think that summarises it all..you might actually be cursing yourself thinking that you are cursing Aishat Yesuf. Muslims must be very cautious about indulging in curses. It is not lawful to curse a specific person or animal, and whoever does so should expiate that deed by offering a positive supplication.

Allahu a'laam (God Knows best).
Salaam(peace) and ciao.

Its a HP ScanJet Enterprise Flow 5000 s4 and fujitsu fi-7280I. The fujistu is way expensive than the hp scanner as it has a flatbed and adf feeder while the hp is a bit affordable with adf feeder only, i will advice the hp scanner a best buy as it will get all your work done no doubt.

You are welcome. I have seen those kind of scanners work. When IPPIS were doing capturing of staff in my organization, I saw the scanner in action. If your organization is robust enough and you are in position to write lists of things you need, you can do more research along that line. Imagine scanning 25 double-sided pages of documents in 60seconds.

Check out this scanner here: Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Scanner. It's super fast. Even if you have 100pages of documents, it won't take you up to 10mins. Is that not amazing? You can as well check online for the review of that particular scanner.
Cheers bro.

I checked out Fujitsu Scansnap reviews on youtube and I must confess that it is indeed a bomb! It has a lot of features that I will really love... I am making more research on the scanner. Once again,I am grateful!
