Brazilian superstar Neymar will undergo foot surgery on Saturday and his recovery will take as long as three months, the national team doctor said Thursday.

Neymar was stretchered off in Paris Saint Germain’s 3-0 Ligue1 victory over Marseille on Sunday.


Doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, told Brazilian media after arriving with the player on a plane from Paris to Rio de Janeiro, “The (recovery) period will be around two and a half to three months.”

This finally kills any hope that the Brazilian international will be available when Real Madrid face PSG in France next week Tuesday.

The first leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash ended 3-1 in favour of Real Madrid in Spain.

Mark Zuckerberg has mandated wholesale change at Facebook after a year during which the company was rocked by Russian meddling, fake news, and controversies over its role in a democracy.

Mueller III that laid out how Russian operators used Facebook and other social media platforms to manipulate American voters.

And just days before the indictment, another Facebook executive disclosed that the company wasn’t yet sure how to put in place Zuckerberg’s latest major directive: Shifting the company’s metrics so that so-called meaningful interactions are valued over cheap likes and clicks, a response to the misinformation and reports about the harms of social media that drew attention last year.

“Even if [Zuckerberg] says, ‘Resolve this right away,” the problems are baked into the fundamentals of the platform,” said Jonathon Morgan, chief executive of New Knowledge, a company that tracks disinformation. “It’s not like Mark Zuckerberg just comes to the floor, makes a command, and everything turns around. The changes are a real threat to the way that these people think about success at their jobs”

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a woman has been found out to have been buried alive and then struggled hard to come out for eleven days.

A woman is believed to have been buried alive by mistake and lay conscious inside her coffin for 11 days before trying to fight her way out of the stone tomb.


Rosangela Almeida dos Santos, 37, appears to have desperately tried to escape her wooden casket, which had been nailed shut after she was buried alive.

But she had already died by the time family members smashed open the tomb last Friday after locals reported hearing screams coming from her grave, according to reports.

Shocking footage shows the commotion in the Senhora Santana cemetery in Riachao das Neves, northeast Brazil, as local men took out the heavy coffin and removed the lid.

Some people ask to call an ambulance as others touch the woman’s feet and comment on how warm she feels.

Married Ms Santos was declared dead by a hospital on January 28 and was buried the next day.

People living near to the cemetery alerted her family on February 9 – 11 days after she had been laid to rest – after hearing screams and bangs coming from inside the tomb.

Her body had reportedly turned around and still warm, cotton wool which had been in the woman’s ears and nostrils had come out and she had injuries on her hands and forehead where it appeared she had tried to fight her way out.

The nails around the sides of the coffin lid had also been pushed upwards, and there were scratches and blood on the inside, they claim.

Ms Santos had been at the Hospital do Oeste in Barreiras, in Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia, for a week after being rushed there by her family with severe fatigue.

She suffered two cardiac arrests before dying from ‘septic shock’, according to her death certificate.

The woman, who was married but didn’t have children, reportedly suffered fainting spells since she was seven years old and took anti-convulsant medicines.

The man who was killed by a group of lions in a private game reserve near Hoedspruit, has been identified as a 50-year-old from Mozambique.

A statement issued on Wednesday by police spokesperson of the the South African Police, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, said three suspected illegal poachers were attacked by a group of lions.


During this attack, the deceased was killed and eaten by the lions while the other two suspects managed to escape the attack and fled back to their home country, Mozambique. Read full statement below:

“The incident occurred on 2018-02-09 when it is believed that three suspected illegal poachers were attacked by a group lions and during that incident, the deceased was killed after being mauled by these lions.”

The other two managed to escape the attack and fled back to their home country, Mozambique. They then reported the ordeal to the family.

The deceased was positively identified yesterday on 2018-02-13 at Maphutha Malatji Hospital Motuary in Namakgale outside Phalaborwa by his sister-in-law who is staying in South Africa at Humulani village in the Lulekani Policing area outside Phalaborwa.

The Sister alleged that she received a call from her family members in Mozambique who gave her the report from the two men that the deceased was killed by lions in South Africa and she must go and check with the Police.

She confirmed to the family that she also heard over the radio that there is an unknown person who was killed by lions and community members who can assist with his identification, may go to Hoedspruit Police Station and she subsequently went to the Police Station and further proceeded to the Hospital mortuary.

The deceased was then identified as David Baloyi aged 50 years from Masingiri area at Mavudza Village in Mozambique.

The police are still investigating the possibility that the deceased might have been a poacher after a hunting rifle and ammunition were found in the vicinity of the scene.

Subsequent to this gruesome discovery, the police in Hoedspruit outside Phalaborwa have since opened an inquest case for further investigations.

An aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force has crashed, killing a pilot who was the only officer on board, a spokesperson announced.

The accident occurred in Kaduna on Thursday, the spokesman for the airforce, Olatokunbo Adesanya, said in a short statement.

Mr. Adesanya, an Air Commodore, said the cause of the crash was unknown. An investigation is underway.

A soon-to-be-bride, Amina Abdullahi, pictured with her fiance, whose wedding had been slated for the weekend after the Sallah holiday, has been killed by her uncle, Hamisu, over N100 debt her mother owed him in Keffi, Nasarrawa state.


According to Rariya, Hamisu had gone to his sister’s house on Wednesday morning to ask for his N100. An argument ensued between them and Amina who apparently could not stand her Uncle talking rudely to her mother, cautioned him.
Hamisu descended on her, beaten her mercilessly until she fainted. She was rushed to the hospital where the doctors confirmed her dead. The report did not, however, state whether Hamisu has been arrested.

If you find this exercise too difficult to hold for more than a second or two, put your knee or knees on the ground. As you gain strength, holding the pose for longer periods of time should become much easier..

It has been a few years since students in Nigerians had to deal with long-term strikes; and just at the moment we thought the era of students having to stay an extra 2 to 3 years in school due to unnecessary strikes by championed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was over, they strike again.

It certainly felt like Deja Vu when the National President Of The Union, Dr. Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this on Monday at a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU in Abuja that there would be an indefinite strike and that during the strike, there will be no teaching, no examination and no attendance of statutory meetings of any kind in any of the union’s branches across the country.

There is some value in ASUU going on strike. They hope that issues such as payment of fractions/ non-payment of salaries, as well as Earned Academic Allowances (EAA); refusal to release the operational license of NUPEMCO; and the non-implementation of the provisions of the 2014 Pension Reform Act with respect to retired professors and their salaries, will be sorted.
It is easy for affected students to get into a lazy mode, where they sit around doing nothing or just meshing the entire time into one long continual nap fest…wasting valuable time and making no positive strides in their life all through the period of the strike.
If you are one of the affected students and you are wondering how you could possibly make this “indefinite” time worth your while, you may want to consider a handy list of helpful suggestions.

Start a Business
There is no age too young for becoming an entrepreneur. Use this period at home to start a small business. You could either sell products or render a service. The good thing is that you do not necessarily need a large capital to get yourself started. You also have the social media as a very important promotional tool.
You could start a home cleaning service or food delivery service…there are so many options.
Managing a business gives you a lot of opportunities to gain a lot of experience with will be beneficial when you eventually conclude your studies.

You finally have the time to learn a new skill. The university might be closed but there are other avenues for learning. You can enroll in short courses online or for professional classes that will grant you certain qualifications that may become relevant in future. Even if you do not have the money to pay for these courses, you can go for free ones on portals like Coursera or Edx.
You don’t necessarily have to get a certificate; the idea is to acquire new knowledge that will be relevant to your career goals or aspirations.

The Presidency has said that the industrial action declared by ASUU on Monday was totally unnecessary.


This was said by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who also indicated that the amount of money being demanded by the union was unrealizable.

Shehu spoke in an interview on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily yesterday.

According to him, the leaders of ASUU were aware of the fact that the current administration inherited the agreements based on which the industrial action was declared.

He said ASUU was also aware that the Federal Government had set up a committee on the matter.

Shehu gave an indication that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government might not be able to meet the huge financial obligation the striking lecturers were demanding since the N850bn debt was more than the total allocation to the Ministry of Education in the 2017 Budget, which he put at N369bn.

Shehu said, “Governments enter into agreements that they can pay for. Ability to pay is a key requirement in going into agreements.

“Since President Buhari assumed office, he has sent words out there in form of a warning to all government institutions that they should not go into negotiations and agreements that they cannot pay for; but get clearance.

“I understand that they are talking about debts owed their members to the tune of N850bn. If I am correct, the entire appropriation for the Ministry of Education for this year is N369bn. So where do they want us to get the money from?

“We have inherited these agreements and we are not running away from them. Government has set up a committee led by (Dr Wale) Babalakin. They are already sitting. Why didn’t they sit down and negotiate?

“This strike is totally unnecessary. The issues can be resolved, especially where we have full understanding of where we are coming from. The governments that signed those agreements did not deem it fit to implement because the capacity was not there.

“If they are ready, they can sit down and discuss with the committee that has capable and qualified people as members.

“They want all the problems to go with a wave of the hand. They want all the answers to all their problems at a go. There is an avenue that the new government has opened for them for dialogue and it is not closed yet.”

According to an eyewitness, Edozdrive, a student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, has been found dead in her room, after four days. The incident allegedly occurred within the first week of August 2017 and no one, including her neighbors, knew of the incident until after 4 days.


After several days of absence, the lodge residents began to wonder where she might have traveled to, it was noticed that her room door had visits of huge houseflies struggling to get into the room and occasional smell of her decaying body oozing out around her apartment.



With the combined effort of the residents in the area, the door was broken down to uncover the misery of her absence and what exactly brought the flies and smell around. Her decomposing body was however found inside. The cause of her death is yet to be ascertained.

Three persons have been remanded in prison by a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday for murder of a University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), lecturer, Dr. Eeba Lebari.

According to The Nation, the suspects are – the deceased’s gateman, Christopher Kinanee, Lebari Robert Tambari, and Ibrahim Useni, a Republic of Benin national.

Useni was the deceased’s housemaid.

The suspects were arrested between December 2015 and early this month.

They were arraigned for conspiracy, kidnapping and murder.

The Chief Magistrate, Andrew Jaja, ordered that the charges be read out to the accused.

He, however, said the court lacks the powers to entertain the case, being a capital offence punishable with maximum sentence.

He ordered that the original case file be duplicated and handed over to the registrar of the court, who will in turn forward same to the office of the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

He adjourned the case till September 28.

1 insufficient examination hall: Ever since fire has destroy some part the classroom at the permanent site, most students has finds the very difficult to learn due to unconducive environment which is now affecting the examination. Classrooms are not enough to conduct a standard examination.

2. Overcrowding of Exam time-table: this is the most annoying part of the examination. Student are left with no choice to write more than one paper a day “ abeg are brains made of computer chips”. Most of the students comes back from exam hall very late at night, I believe the school will face a mass failure when result is being released. Pls I advice all student should go for medical checkup after exams before you run mad.

3. Robbery attack: Most of the student face robbery attack on their way home at night after reading their books in school, they are being robbed of their phones and money. Beware….
