this is a very interesting thread!

Andrenalin:
This is long but details , excuse my topo as u read along.

The guy is working without talking that is y they call him wake and see.

I live in Benin, but I am from Delta state. I always say the only person that can change Nigeria for good is Obaseki.

The question is how? And y should I think so?

Good....

1) Obaseki match against all political rules of respecting top political gods by feeding them first before u talk of the people. Rather he drove them from his cabinet like the agberos and other tugs and other political thiefs jst to work for the people. That is y they said he is not a politician.

2) Obaseki outgrown those building of roads and light that our politicians always promised us every here, rather he includes great infrastructure like the gale gele sea port project, the power project, the refineries , the new industrial hub at Sapele road etc

3) Obaseki not only try to build new roads in Benin, but now doing it developing areas like the ogheghe road that ties Sapele road to airport road very long. Biu permanent site roads , and many streets....

4) The one I love most is this, using technology to fight crime and bring decorum to Benin to some extent. Examples are: teachers must clock in and clock out everyday which reflect in govt house to checkmate teachers defaulting; Drivers ticket is smart card not the usual tear ticket these goes directly to govt account; traffic police are their duty post with camera watch for defaulters which they will play with evidences and others.

5) Obaseki was the only governor in the whole Nigeria that didnt follow the total shutdown approach during covid-19 . Rather he brought a different approach, social distance in the bus, educating ppl with radio, relocated all markets to schs, put in covid-19 team to check compliance and others. He didnt shut d economy rather he works on other modalities that worked, of which federal govt and lagos state later adopted.

6) He brought peace to ppl of Benin either in d form building house you wont be scared of omonoile. He worked with the Oba to scrab omo-ile from Benin. They also scrabbed agbero from disturbing car owners and transporters and others.

7) Obaseki was the only governor that worked the BEDC power holding company woman from his office according to public cry because she is not performing and the ppl are suffering for light. He joined the ppl to protest , and promised to build Edo own electricity supply that can serve Edo out of pain. And guess what the project is going fine, 85%completion.

He did other things , intact for the first time I support a politician which was him. He deserved to be president that can bring the needed revolution to Nigeria. He stood for the ppl against the politicians that is the big guns in politics in Benin dont like him.

What do we need in this country? One that wont favour politicians against the ppl. The election was the ppl vs political big guns. They promised to let him know he is not a politicians, then the ppl come up that we are bigger than the politicians.

He(Obaseki) sacrificed for us now is the time to stand by him. Otherwise it would have been very easy for Obaseki to play the norms by being a politician in his first term and win the second term with ease. But rather he did the opposite. Thanks

I love your points , Very Valid .

Eriokanmi:
I thought this matter had been laid to rest already. I wonder why you're still bringing it up, OP. The reasons we voted obaseki is one million and one. There's nothing like elephant project here. They're visible to the eyes.

Just so you know, we didn't know obaseki as governor. We've known him since Oshiomhole was governor in edo. Forget all the lies Oshiomhole told about obaseki. Obaseki played a major role in Oshiomhole's winning the election twice. In fact, the latter even confirmed he was the brain behind his administration's succes. You can't expect a labour leader who's not exposed to have brought the largest ceramics company in west Africa and second largest in Africa to edo state, likewise the power plant which supples the ceramics company uninterrupted electricity, including the host communities. During the campaigns when some people were saying all sorts of things about obaseki, I was just laughing for their being emotional about party because they didn't know anything about edo state and obaseki.

2 weeks ago, lagos state governor said they just wanted to start payment of the 30k minimum wage whereas, obaseki had implemented and been playing same since February 2020 with the little resources at edo's disposal. Which civil servant would enjoy such and wouldn't want to vote obaseki?

Oshomole was owing pensioners in the state but when obaseki came, he cleared all the arrears and paid them promptly. What about the teachers whose salary were increased , got trained and their classrooms and school buildings renovated with fans good toilets and better working environment? Those were the people who voted.

The agric subvention came to mind . Those who benefited from this gesture were among those who voted. What of matket women who were relieved from street thugs and kabaka boys who were always harassing them forcing them to pay tax and same were being remited to a lagos company's account? Those were among the electrorate who voted obaseki. We don't have agbero like lagos in edo rather a structured arrangement in place for the revenue collection which gladdened the heart of edo NURTW, which also led to their endorsing obaseki openly.

What of the shop owners who were denied ownership by oshiomohle by asking them to come and pay one million naira to own a shop but obaseki cut down to 500k when he came? Those were among the people who voted.

What about the people like me and many people of like-minds, now seeing our vision for edo state being an industrial hub in near future materialising? Among other states given slots to build modular refinery, it was edo who has fulfilled the buhari-led administration vision in this regard. All things being equal, the refinery should start operation by 1st quarter of 2021.

Obaseki govt has created the needed enabling environment to make this happen by providing the land, contributed over 700m naira to the refinery project. 2 companies were invited by obaseki who pulled resources together to make this happen. They call him an MOU governor whereas, it was same MOU he spareheaded that brought ceramics company to edo in Oshomole's admin. I can go on and on and on. Road constructions and Healthcare are normal things every sane governor should provide for their people , i'd have also mentioned roads and primary health centres built, equipped, powered by solar and renovated when he first came in 2016 as governor.

Obaseki deserved more than governor. He's laid a good template for future election in Nigeria. This would be the first election to be conducted in Nigeria in which no death was recorded, where the candidates who were defeated accepted the result in good fate, the most transparent ever. Obaseki is a presidential material. We need more people like him both in the apc and pdp. He said there would be no violence and people must not take to violence for his winning sake, that he prefer to lose than shed human blood and he fulfilled his promise

Thanks for the thorough explanation

Politics in Nigeria is very funny and the people's mindset is easy to be manipulated.

I wondered why they actually voted for him massively, is he because he is a good governor with elephant projects, or they actually thought he was being cheated out of office by Oshiomole( the Tinubu Factor ) and they decided to fight for him, I don't like Oshiomole too, I think he's too intense and wants to have a level of control over everything, but I think Obaseki actually played the victim to his people to gain their pity and support.

I think people should vote for physical projects, not emotional blackmail.

whats your thoughts?

Why are you Nigerians like this, You are quoting this Stupid smelling mouth Fani Kayode that talks with both sides of his mouth because he's insulting Osinbajo and you don't like him, You people should think, How did you think he fell out with Buhari and Tinubu because he won't sit down and shut up and let them be doing anyhow, so they had to lock him out, he is a good man, and to me, he is the president Nigeria needs right now but the cabal won't let him because he won't do their biddings if truly Nigerians want the country to be fixed that's the man we should vote for Note Tinubu ....

Fani Kayode is just jealous, the only thing he can ever be in his life is that minister he was some 15 years ago, nothing more for the idiot.

The root is not unemployment.

Nigeria is a capitalist society.

Everyone is free to start a business and own all the profit.

Even if you don't have job be self employed, learn a new technical skill.

Learn how to sell, many many companies are looking for talented sales people.

Nigeria govt don't tax small business and start up , go to UK and see tax

Most billionaires all over the world started poor and broke without degree.

Our problem is, most Blacks, about 95% has ZERO ethics... We don't have morals. Most people criticizing yahoo bois would easily fall into the temptation of similar financial crime in their office.

Go to every country in the world, majority of the blacks are nuisance there.

Lastly Yahoo boy is a criminal because deep inside that is who he is, just like oranges the situation of this country only squeezed out the seed in him.
Perhaps if things were rosy, he might think himself a pope.

Nice Contribution Sir , The Govt of the day should do something!

Op I want to ask you, if it was unemployment that is the cause why would a yahoo boy make money and the first thing he would do is to buy an expensive car, then next he would go clubbing. Why is that yahoo boys never think of setting up business? Most of them make up to 50m which you know can take over 500 people out of the street but they would prefer to buy range rover. So you see the motive for being a criminal is not because lack of jobs but out of greediness. Thank you.

@jesmond3945 I want to answer your question one after the other.

1. it's in human nature when you see a huge amount of money, you will want to satisfy all your fantasy, in most cases big cars, Ferraris and Lamborghinis and all good things of life we all want it. even the Italian and the Mexican Dons want to club and have the finest women of the city, its the human in us.

2. They have business everywhere but you don't know, its a front , I've talked to a number of them about leaving what they do and run a legit business, but no one will want to leave where he sees millions of naira its an addiction , but anotther factor is that everyone is a scammer in Naija, I know one that bought trucks and left Yahoo ,those baba that do that business took all his money cos they know about it and he does not , he had to sell the trucks and go back to Yahoo.

3. Greed is a factor too, but do want to tell me that our fathers that worked in Nigeria Railways and Airlines are not greedy, they graduated and got cars and good jobs, they used to getting and eating things and they ate the whole Nigeria with nothing left, wetin poor man pikin go chop?
Politics / Re: Advice To President Buhari About EFCC And Yahoo. by lilwheezy1(m): 6:16am On May 26, 2019
Its funny how people are taking this case of unemployment and blaming ourselves for what happened while we were just looking, This is just the beginning, Look at the children btw 15- 20 years of age now, I always want to cry when I look at them , there is no hope , most want to wear chains now and dye their hair , An epidemic is coming if nothing is done about unemployment in this country.
Why wont they say school is scam , people have gone to school , even if you can employ them create a conducive environment for startups , How many people will go into business, Go on Instagram, All our youths are Instagram comedians (Na craze dey sell for Naija )everybody is selling human hair, dildos and what have you, if you have a steady source of income in Nigeria you are a Hero and everybody will come begging you for money .
How do you think this will play out , it will get worse .

GrabHisBalls:
No, you didn't make any sense to me. Seems more like a yahoo boy supporting his likes while he claims not to be one. Even if there are jobs, most of you are either uneducated, unqualified, or qualified paper-wise, but unproductive. You all want to make money quick, without going through the rigors of making money. Success isn't cheap if you have to do it right.

Stop making excuses for stupid people. No country can attain full employment. The best they can do is to get a higher percentage of its citizens employed...people who are ready and willing to be employed. When you keep screaming that education is a scam, why won't you steal? Even in the face of unemployment, there are those who are going about their businesses legitimately while you choose to be a kidnapper, yahoo boy, armed robber, etc. Choices have consequences. Let the EFCC be.

Ok to you you've made all the sense in the world, I know people like you, sitting in the chair with your nose up, looking down at other people, call me what you like I already expected it. I can bet Yahoo Boys are more educated and smart than you, Take a walk on your street and see how many boys just sitting idle claiming area boys they are not lazy they are just jobless, tell me if there's is a way of making money that they won't do it. See this epidemic for what it really is.
No country can attain full employment that's why your professionals are leaving your country and your politician are looting all your money for their children, the children of the poor deserve to die of hunger and the children of the rich deserve to oppress them.

You can judge all you want, the approach is wrong and it won't work, arrest a yahoo boy, throw him jail for 8 months , when he comes out he will become worse because no work for him and he his not rehabilitated in that prison he went to.

You don't deserve to sit in that office than other, How may tailors, Barbers, Hairdressers are on your street ? over a 100, that's the work our budding youths are doing now cos even a master degree holder cant get a job!

Politics / Advice To President Buhari About EFCC And Yahoo. by lilwheezy1(m): 8:24pm On May 25, 2019
I know this is a delicate matter and a lot of people don't want to share their opinion about it, I am not a yahoo apologist because to most people here anybody that talks out supports Yahoo and the youths involving themselves in it, I just think Yahoo could be stamped out in a better way.

IS IT UNTIL ALL OUR YOUTHS/ CHILDREN ARE PUT IN JAIL.
Instead of arresting everybody why not look into the root of this matter which is UNEMPLOYMENT, stamp that out and see this rubbish go down or even be eradicated completely.

To the President :
Do something about unemployment. Bunkering, Kidnapping, Robbery, and so on are the result of unemployment in the society, it created an environment for all the criminality to flourish, people are hungry and people can do anything to get money these days, everybody wants to live fine but if there is no legit means of doing that people tend to do the illegal ones, a large number of our youths today are involved in this and its all because people graduate and can't find jobs.
Now these people have seen an illegal way of making a huge amount of money and some of them cannot go back to making N150k monthly anymore, I believe if jobs are created some of them will leave this illegal jobs and make their money in a clean way with peace of mind.

To EFCC :
The EFCC and the media are doing the nation more harm than good , I know you are doing your jobs , but what do want other nations to think about our already tattered reputation, when everything they see in our news is that "20 boys arrested for fraud today", "50 boys arrested for fraud tomorrow", I am not saying you should not arrest and parade these criminals, just do it accordingly, let the court sentence them before posting their pictures all over the internet . I know you want everyone to know you are working hard to eradicate this epidemic but You want these kids to repent and not to spoil their life beyond reparation.

I think I have made a little sense thank you

I am not against the igbos , I'm just trying to raise a topic we can all discuss and learn from eachother. Not everbody that says anything hates igbos or against there growth.

I said I was not going to trade words with that trol up there so I wont mention him , but let me give you your reply , politics is a game of numbers , that's what the igbos does not know , the north knows they have the numbers and any tribe that wants to be president in Nigeria must court their freindship and have their support , the PVC is a powerful tool in the north and in the south all we say is I don't care whoever wins they don't say that in the north .

This has to stop Anybody the north wants to be president will always be president , and the east can never come out and say they hate a candidate and not vote for him and when he wins they come out and make demands , it does not work .

Learn politics my people from the east , even Animals play it .

I see on the front page of this site.
You need good representatives to fight for you in the central, no one will give you anything on the platter of gold you need to sit down and know these things.

its a pity Igbos have a lot to gain from the federal govt but hatred won't let them see, the Jonathan you love so much did nothing for you.
