@ Kunle93: 10 workings days. You? I am counting just 5 working days by His grace. Why didn't you look out for me today?

@ Lakexider: I think you can, why don't you try
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by kunle93: 9:21am On Oct 03, 2009
@khadie

dont mind me jare, I got there around 11.00 am, and the security men wouldnt even allow us to enter, they said there are lot of people inside already. Finally finally, have submitted, they gave 10 working days, I tried talking to the lady that my school is resuming upper week, she said there is nothing she can do, tht the 10 working days might not be up to that.
I tried looking for a lady in dred, but couldnt find any, so I concluded you ve left.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Khadie(f): 10:53am On Oct 03, 2009
@ Kunle93: yeah, I left at 9:30am got there abt 7:30am. I tried talking to the lady that checked my documents and she said I should email the embassy on the need for me to have their decision on time. I am trusting God that in 5 working days, our visas will be ready!

MY BANK STATEMENT WAS NOT RETURNED TO ME BY D EMBASSY HOPE NO PROBS? OR SHOULD I GO BACK AND REQUEST FOR IT WILL I BE NEEDING IT IN U.K?PLEASE KINDLY LET ME KNOW

I beleive there would be no problems, i was in dillema of that before i left and had to go to the embassy to collect it and other dox that werent returned to me.But it wasn't demanded at the point of entry into the UK.so no probs, but to be on the safer edge, you may just go to the embasy and request for it,that is if you still have time cos most schools have resumed here
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by kunle93: 4:24pm On Oct 03, 2009
@khadie,

did u send the email?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Khadie(f): 5:04pm On Oct 03, 2009
@ nrd_geek: thanks a lot. The fault of my first refusal was that of my school and mine as I should have gotten so familiar with the guidance before I applied. But cuz I have being to 5 countries including the US and I have used scanned copies of visa letters, I didn't know it's wrong with the point base application plus the letter I got lack some of the mandatory information required. I have done everything in my power to make it right and I believe God will take charge. Like I said before I am on a scholarship and out of the 8 fellows, I am the only one that is still awaiting her visa. The last lady from Ethiopia got hers yesterday. I am going to be in the UK for just 6 months as amended by the school/sponsor so I was advised by the school to apply as a "Student Visitor" this time. I have submitted all original documents with a letter that state the need to apply for just 6 months now. So, I am hoping for the best.

Thanks so much.

@ Kunle93: I sent an email on Wednesday but I didn't talk abt tier 4 application since I have switched to "Student Visa". I just made a few inquiries and used style to complain about how it took 10 days for them to get back to me after they refused my visa but no reply is sent yet. They don't usually respond on time that's it. I also intend sending them an email about my application on Thursday if my visa isn't in my hand by then,

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by ell77(f): 7:06pm On Oct 03, 2009
Some points to consider:
1. Please always proof read your application, you may print the application at home or in an internet cafe before you go to the VFS. The people at the VFS are not qualified to advise you. The last thing you should do is fill in everything in five minutes at the office. Provide all supporting documents as stipulated and leave yourself enough time to apply for a visa in time! It is better to pay the VFS with a cash deposit than a cheque as they will wait for the cheque to clear before sending your documents to the BHC. This can take up to 5 extra working days depending on the bank you use - so cash is faster, you should be issued a document/receipt with your application number and barcode number. Your application number will normally start with abreviations of the VFS centre you used i.e. VIAC or IKAC for VI and Ikeja respectively. This with your date of birth can help you track progress online. If it has passed two weeks since you handed in your documents contact the centre to find out if your application is ready computer failures/delays in updating application progress may be playing a role in your application.

2. On the 30th September 2009 visa application centres were closed due to IT failures all visa applications centres in Nigeria were also closed for National day on 1 October 2009, so if you applied for a visa recently this may be affecting the length of your outcome.

3. If you are applying near the start date of your course some universities may write you are entitled to resume up to 4 weeks after the course start date. However, many do not put this on the visa letter unless you ask even though many others do so without asking - BEG THEM, they know the PBS is a new system and with the national holidays and failures they may be more sympathetic to your plea. Contact the international student advisor(s) at your university for assistance in this respect. You may be rejected if the UKBA feels the latest course start date for your intake has lapsed.

4. Students already in the United Kingdom will not need to show the maintenance and tuition fees in their account for 28 days and can benefit from an extended concession of showing funds as at the day of application until February 2010 along with the correct documents to support their application. Those outside the UK applying for a student visa, however, must show this money has been available for the full 28 days ending no more than one month before the date of their application.

5. If a student wants to study with a new Tier 4 sponsor (i.e. switch university), and they made their last application for a Tier 4 visa before 5th October 2009, they will continue to be allowed to change their sponsor (education provider/university/school) without making a new Tier 4 application! They must, however, seek permission from UKBA to change their sponsor. Please note that after after 5th October 2009, doing such will be illegal!

If you would like advice on anything relating to student visas feel free to ask me by posting on this forum.

@ khadie and iz2much. I sincerely wish you guys the best. Well am new here and need some advice. My school resumes on monday, I applied 5

working days now though I was told to come after 10 working days.its a visiting student visa <6mth course. Just contacted my school and they are

willing to extend the resumption if I dont get my Visa before monday .this was not stated in the VISA letter . Issue is how do I communicate this to

the BHC so that it can be taken into consideration with the current application.

Any candid advice is welcome. In any case, am going to VI VAC on monday. just hope for the best. @ell77. Thanx for the info.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Chrisbenogor(m): 10:24pm On Oct 03, 2009
Hello all,
This is my first post on this section, lol obodo oyoibo problems. I plan on going for my sisters graduation ceremony in December with my father and mother. My dad will be sponsoring the trip, of all the documents that I need to submit my sister says I need of introduction from my school showing that I am a final year student maybe in a bid to maybe show that I will surely return back to Nigeria. Now with the schools down due to ASUU SSANU and NASU I am not sure that I can get the letter. So distinguished travelers how important is that document please pardon my naivety in these issues.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Khadie(f): 12:17pm On Oct 04, 2009
@ iz2much: you are right. I am praying and fasting like never before. It's in God's hands.

@ Chigsmith: try and go to UK website to read thoroughly on everything including what you are applying for. You can do so here http://www.ukvac-ng.com/. Also, you can pay at their Ikeja centre or VI centre if you are in Lagos. I am not sure if one centre is better than the other. You can pay for your visa application at any of their submission centres after which they will check your documents, take your biometrics and give you a slip that will contain  your application ref. no

@ Finebouy: thanks. I think you can email them  here visa.lagos@fco.gov.uk with your application ref. no and explain the issue and include the email the school sent to extend your resumption time. You can also ask your school like iz2much said to get in touch with the embassy using the email provided. Let them blind copy you the email as well. Good luck.

@Chrisbenogor: I am not sure I know how this works, but try and include a photocopy of your school ID, some prove that you have registered as a final year student and in the "additional Information" session on your visa form, try and explain that you tried getting a letter from the school but ASSU strike prevented you,  good luck

@ Ell77: that was some good advice!

Anyway u'r welcum & hope we can trust & count on u.

@ iz2much - Yes I am an agent, but my visa advice on this forum is free, and solely related to student visas. It does not benefit me for people to receive rejection visas in the long run. Only those who think about short term implications/gains would do such, I believe the more people who experience smoother and more successful visa processes the more people will be encouraged to come to the UK over time.

I would not really advise you to count on anyone, but I will personally never mislead anyone on issues relating to student visas. It goes against me and my industry!

Sorry miz4oxley, I specialize in student visas, hopefully someone else on the forum can help. But it may help if you state the conditions of refusal and also what was contained in the new sponsor letter that you believe will overthrow the previous decision. All the best! grin
