suen u see,  ibo language is very difficult  to interpret sometimes especially when you want to get the exact meaning from  english word or phrase as u have there, but from my own understanding it is"anwuri ubochi omumu gi.so just go ahead & tell him that, & he will be surprise how u get it after all is it not by text msg?
& for ZuluNation,comb means 'nha'

Mela how are you sure it's HIM. Seun never said anything about it being a guy. I was actually under the impression he was rying to learn to surprise a certain lady he's trying not to disclose.

Abi you know something we no know?

@ zulu
lol. "comb" in igbo is "mbo".

and happy birthday is "agbamafo oma". "agbamafo(r) is a "birthday" and "oma" is "good" therefore----> agbamafo(r) oma is happy birthday.

Happy Birthday has no direct translation in Igbo.  All I see here are mere 'transliterations'!

@SEUN AND ZULU:

UR WELCOME!

in igbo, because we don't have a lot of words for things, we describe it and put different things togeda which eventually come out to be what we were trying to say.

we aint got a word for:
table
kitchen
television
and some other thangs.  Tongue

PS: COMB IS MBO!!!!!!!! SHEESH!! DON'T ARGUE WITH ME PEOPLES!!! Grin

The point here is not translating the exact English word(s) to Igbo but, make a statement that implies the same. There is no igbo speaking son of the soil that won't understand what you mean when u refer table as 'osisi nwere ukwu ano' even 'igwe nwere ukwu ano' will do in case of metal table. Unfortunately there has been systematic redundancy in igbo language development. While the english, french and others work round the clock updating their vocabulary, we are all busy shouting 'nna bros' at onitsha main market.

On a side note, imagine singing 'happy birthday to you, happy birthday,  etc' as 'Anuri ubochi amurugi di kwara gi, Anuri ubochi amurugi di kwara gi, etc'. It will make one hell of tongue twister.

i would have interpreted that to mean car. going by the way you translated table, Undecided

for comb it is mbo for folks from imo and abia i think, while nha for anambra, enugu guys. so both i think are correct. in my dialect, we even call it nra, putting r in place of h.

no wonder some people thinks igbo is hard. Cheesy
