Florentino Perez is set to return as president of Real Madrid. He was president of madrid from 2000 - 2006 and was the architect of the 'Era of Galacticos'.
In his previous tenure he signed top players like, Luis Figo from Barcelona, Zinedine Zidane from Juventus, Ronaldo from Inter, David Beckham from Manchester United, Michael Owen from Liverpool, Sergio Ramos and Baptista from Sevilla, and Robinho from Santos.
If Perez becomes president, possible targets include Xabi Alonso, David Silva, David Villa, and Kaka.

I doubt that cule would ever join madrid.
He is a technically sound player, I still remember watching him lead Spain to the trophy in the U21 tournament hosted in Nigeria, Nigeria '99. Puyol was also in that squad, with Ronaldinho on the brazillian team.

Ermm, NO! Puyol is too old to have played at Nigeria '99. see here. It was meant for players born in or after 1979 Wink.

Kaka from Milan to Madrid?
Spanish and italian sources are claiming that a deal has been reached. A €65 million Euro transfer fee has been agreed on by the two clubs. In terms of the player, he has accepted a five year contract worth €9m annually and that the deal was brokered between Perez, Galliani and Bosco Leite (Kaka's agent).
Chelsea are said to have put in late bid but were turned down.

The deal was signed before the CL finals Bayern is not a club that runs round the media houses before signing players. I see Dario Srna and Manuel Neuer in Munich soon.

Mario Gomez is a 24 year old and one of the best striking prospect in Europe. He is young and he is German He was in contract with Stuttgart and had to include a clause in his contract that would allow him to sign for BAYERN MUNICH specifically. Ulli can not pass the opportunity of Having a Klose-Gomez partnership leading to the world cup.

Tymoschuk was bought for about 13million.

Dayok, you aint serious. 13 milla for Timoshuk. No doubt he is a good player but kai that is way 3 much.
Alexei Smertin under JM? ol boy, you are a dunce.  Grin.
I've always told you. Stop disgracing yourself.
It was Ranieri who brought him from Bordeaux for a mere 3.4 milla in 2003. Olodo. (read-I'm sorry Sir Grin)

Are we talking of the same Gomez who is fun of missing several clear cut chances including an open goal against Austria?
He only managed to score goals against shitty UAE and San Marino. Pathetic.

Typical German mentality. . . . . . . you have to be big, tall, strong and good in the air before anybody gives you a look in as a striker.

Gomez, Klose, Luca Toni. . . . . . whats the difference Huh They are only good when the ball's in the air.

Bayern should get some ball players man - guys who can play with the ball on the floor!

Definitely you dont know a thing about Anatoly Tymoschuk. That dude is one of the top holding midfielder in Europe. He is captain of Zenit and multiple winner of Ukrainian player of the year. His performances against Bayern, Juventus, Man Utd and Real Madrid speaks volume.

Alexei Smertin was bought under Ranieiri but he didnt even stop at Stamford bridge before he was forwarded to Fulham. He came back under JM and he was declared surplus to requirement.

Mario Gomez is one of the best young strikers in Europe. and strikers of his class and category dont cost any less.

How much were Berbatov, Drogba, Torres and Rooney bought for? If Benzema and Villa would be sold how much do you figure they would go for? I would rather spend money on a 24 year old German striker than spend on SWP, and 30 year old Shevchenko. Try to watch games outside of the EPL

14 million euros is excessive for tymoschuk. At 30yrs, he is past his prime. Zenit acquired him for 15 million euros over 2yrs ago.

How much was paid for Arshavin and how old is he?

How much was paid for Shevchenko and how old is he?

How much was paid for Berbasulk and How old is he?

How much was paid for Zidane going to Real madrid and How old was he?

Tymoschuk appreciated in value. A guy who was bought for 15million 2 years ago, became team captain almost instantly. Led his team to UEFA cup succes and Super cup wins. Definitely he has appreciated in value

Re: The 2009 Summer Soccer Transfer Thread

@dayokanu
- Arshavin is 28 and was bought for €14m
- Schevchenko was 30 when chelsea bought him for €46.5m
- Berbatov was 27 when ManU got him for €36m
- zidane was 29 when joined madrid for €55m
so which of this buys do you think helps your argument? The 30yr old Schev?
Football history is riddled with over priced purchases, with ManU and Chelsea often found guilty. Do not try to use one over payment to justify another.

Yaya Toure joined Barca for €9m at age 24. is he not better than tymoschuk?

Tymoschuk's main asset to zenit was his leadership skills (he was captain of shakter donesk for several seasons and is vice captain of the Ukraine national team) that Advocaat needed for his inexperienced team, and thus soon after he was acquired he became captain of Zenit.
Bayern does not lack in the leadership department as Van Bommel, Lucio and Demichelis are good enough. As a player he is a nice addition to the bayern squad, giving them depth in the DM department but he is not worth more than €10m

Arshavin at 28 was bought for 15m GBP

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/feb/02/arsenal-zenit-transfer-window

Berbatov at 27 for 30mGBP

So Tymoschuk at 30 for 14million Euro or 12m GBP

Yaya Toure moved from Monaco and he was not an established and top ranked player at that time. Playing at Barca refined his game more and made him one of the best players in that position.

A guy bought for 15million led his team to UEFA cup and super cup victories as Captain one would expect the value of this player to have appreciated but Ulli got him for 14 a player ready to go not some "He would develop" players.

Thats a bargain to me

I dont get what you are driving at, will he become captain at bayern? Are you saying his gam is getting better at 30yrs+?
I brought up Yaya because both were bought in the same year. so who was the better buy?
It still early in the window, but I am sure we will soon see a few DMs of better quality move for less.

Bayern does not need a player who would just develop, we want a player who is at his peak and  can come in and deliver. That is Anatoly Tymoschuk the enforcer

Getting a top quality DM for 14milla is not overpaying
