Adeboye Prays At UN Headquarters

From Laolu Akande (New York) and Abosede Musari (Abuja)

AMBASSADORS and representatives of more than 68 nations were on Thursday led in prayers for global peace by General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, United States (U.S.)

Tagged "Uniting in prayer for the United Nations," the prayer session was organised by the International Prayer Council. The event was open to all Christians and Moslems at the UN. The theme of the prayer meeting was: "That the earth may be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord" (Habakkuk 2:14)

Adeboye was the keynote speaker at the session.

Introducing Adeboye, who was listed by Newsweek Magazine among the 50 most influential people in the world early this year, the planners of the event described him as the one "who holds the largest prayer meetings in the world in his country Nigeria."

In his presentations, Adeboye told the gathering that "the greatest problem the world is facing today is not the one we are trying to grapple with here. It is the attack on our youths, our children, our tomorrow, while we are busy planning strategy."

He said the enemy has sneaked in through the Internet, luring children and the youths into such dangerous acts as pornography and how to make explosive weapons, among others.

The cleric said the Internet is now teaching the youths that "the things that their parents value are but attempts to limit their own freedoms. The Internet therefore, has become an avenue for the enemy to attack humanity. This is a problem facing every nation, rich or poor, first world or third world."

He asked: "How do you fight an enemy you cannot see, an enemy you cannot defeat by force of arms, an enemy you cannot legislate against, an enemy you cannot fight with diplomacy?

Providing an answer, Adeboye said: "It is best to use the age-old method of warfare by calling in on the ally. The greatest ally is the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of hosts."

Adeboye was also expected to lead a prayer walk yesterday at the Twin Towers Ground Zero scene of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in New York as the U.S. marks the 8th year anniversary of the attacks.

WHAT A SHAME, Adeboye that could not tell OBJ to stop his 3rd term agenda. What is he praying for? Adeboye is part of the problem we have in nIGERIA 2day.
When we needed him to SPEAK OUT during the OBJ 3rd term crisis he keep mute cos he is his kinsman. Its unfortunate that he will always ask nigerians to pray for the country's progress when all he needed to do was just to speak out and tell the corrupt leaders the truth to their faces.

Am disappointed in his man. Unfortunatly am a church worker in RCCG. But that  will stop me from calling a spade by its rightful name.

Pls dont tell me about the prayer of the rightous. I started praying for nigeria the "land in distress" since my childhood days in 1984. We even called on ANGELS and SAINTS (the catholic way) to join us pray for the land. Since then to now the land is getting worse and worst. nigeria doesnot need prayer. She needs WEEPING.

Thomaths & Co, the prayer of your so called righteous people will never change anything. Its the WEEPING of the oppressed that will liberate the masses.
EVEN JESUS KNOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF WEEPING, THUS HE WEPT

Wonders shall never end!
Adeboye the fraudster, the ultimate conman is leading prayer sessions at the United Nations. Soon they will be inviting TB Joshua and Guru Maharaji to come and analyze the world's problems.

No wonder the UN is losing its credibility.

Um, where did he park the jet?

The prayer session came ahead of the 64th General Assembly of the UN starting next week, which more than 100 presidents, prime ministers and monarchs are expected to attend.

(skip)

Ambassadors at the prayer meeting included the UN General Assembly President, Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann and a representative of Nigeria's Ambassador to the UN, Joy Ogwu, Pastor Lawrence Obisakin, a senior Nigerian diplomat at the UN.
RCCG pastors in North America were also in attendance at the prayer session, including Pastor James Fadele, the RCCG representative in North America, Pastor Gandhi Olaoye from Washington DC, and Pastor Daniel Ajayi-Adeniran who is hosting Pastor Adeboye in New York.

Adeboye was the keynote speaker at the session.

It seems the journalist does not know how to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Out of the 68 ambassadors and representatives only two were mentioned including a senior Nigerian diplomat who is also a pastor, NOT the Permanent Rep of Nigeria to the UN, NOT even the Nigerian Ambassador to the US. Shows what cadre of representatives were gathered there yet the story opens in a very grand way.
I think the journalist should have done a better job of earning his egunje by writing a better spin- i bin forget sey he no easy for lie in this google age, which explains why Mr. daddy GO is attacking the internet. Wink

The man really shows how ancient he is.
How can he see the Internet as the problem of the world while he knows deep inside him that he and his likes are deceiver s of the gullible masses.
I wonder what is so special about him praying at UN headquarters.  UN represents the worst organization on earth.
From League of Nations till date, they've  succeeded in achieving nothing for the whole earth. He should teach them how to establish church and fix the their brothers as the heads.
Inshi!

If largest prayer meeting in the world is held in Nigeria and the country is still like this, then we must have been praying for other countries instead of our own country.

Nigerians and prayers sha. Is this the first time they will pray at UN. Why is this so special to have caught this media frenzy. By the way, who prayed for Obama when he was seeking to become the US president? Me think he worked for it. Our over-reliance on prayers from "Men of God" is part of our national problems.

Baba Adeboye prayed for Olusegun Osoba when he was seeking a 2nd term in Ogun state, Osoba lost. The man (Gbenga Daniel) who rigged out Osoba in the election has started getting his own dosage of prayers from this same person. Haba!!!

Our religious leaders will never tell the political class the truth, yet they expect the masses to respect them. If Jesus Christ was busy rapping the ruling class, will he end up being crucified? This hungry reporters should just find something better to tell us.
