former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Emmanuel Adebayo, has been named the successor to the royal throne of Emure Ekiti, in Emure local government area of the state. The former commissioner who lost his place as the Lagos police boss to the intrigues of former President Obasanjo just before the 14 April, 2007 governorship election, is now undergoing the mandatory traditional coronation rites in Emure-Ekiti.

P.M.News could not however ascertain the date for his coronation as it is understood that it is yet to be fixed.

The former police boss would be toeing the path of his grandfather, Oba Elemure Atayrobiagogo the Ajimuda Amimi II, who also reigned as the king of the town.

Oba Adebayo would be taking the reins of traditional affairs from the late Oba Oshin who died early this year after spending 24 years on the throne.

The former police commissioner was born in Emure Ekiti on 19 October, 1949. After his secondary school education, he joined the Nigeria Police Force on 1 April, 1973.

He rose through the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force and was promoted as Police Commissioner on 1 February, 2003.

He retired from the Police Force after his politically motivated transfer from Lagos to Nasarawa State by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
