Malone122: heyyy thank you very much for checking up Apparently yes oh Like they told me when I called there was no availability of dates then but may 6 popped up today
fatsonm: Good evening everyone. Please is there anyone here at NC A&T Universit(North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University). I want to make some enquiries. Thanks..
Malone122: please not to take too much of your time I would really appreciate if you can tell me how your friend put it to them so I can use the same method God bless
Tell the caller that you don't have access to the email on your profile anymore and you will like to transfer your profile to the new email address.
Malone122: it’s not as simple as you place it to be I have been trying to reach them by phone and email no response Isn’t it their contact information in Nigeria you are talking about
Malone122: I doubt because when I used another mail to create a CGI account it brought out available dates in Lagos even though it was jan 11 2022 I asked a friend it showed him same date in Lagos
But for me it shows nothing
Since you have created a new CGI account with another email. Call them to transfer your profile to the new email address. Check the US embassy website for contact details and pick the web call option and ask that they transfer your profile to the new email address. Simple
Krissy01: Hi guys I need your honest opinion on this, like put yourself in my shoes and tell me what you would do. ok so I started this studying abroad journey back in 2019 I was fresh out of high school and didn't plan on schooling in Nigeria, Canada has always been the only country on my mind. t
You should consider Schengen countries like Lithuania, Norway, Sweden etc.
Vicrown: Scholarships are not for first class and second class graduates alone, there are several intelligent students who for one reason or another graduated with average results. How to get scholarships with second class lower (2-2)
Please Forgive Me... I don't believe this your story!
It is ok to say things and make it look perfect, but this sounds just too perfect to be true.
FULL FUNDING in the US for why? because you worked for 10yrs?
2.2 will not even get your application viewed, did you write the SAT? TOEFL and had exceedingly excellent grades in them?
Unless probably in an artisan school where you probably have to use your hands to work or do your courses or Vocational School that directly relates with you 10yrs work experience, else ....idonbliveit!
Moving on, ...
How did you sustain in the US with your family? You had to work and go to school and still made that CGPA? Oga a lie!
You have to be extremely good to achieve that and that means you are even a 1st Class student in Nigeria.
If you work and study in Canada, You have to be extremely good too because you cannot even meet up with assignments.
A guy on this forum has been expelled from his school in Canada, he cannot even Fail, he literally doesn't have a presence in the class.
I don't know if you did that write up to encourage someone, but the frailty of the composed is way over the TOP.
Please Forgive me once again if I came in strong.
He wrote nothing but the truth. There is a school(s) for every profile in the US because there have thousands of schools. GPA isn't the only factor they consider. The GRE, SOP, work experiences, and LoRs are all considered in the application process. So yes, a 2.2 graduate can get full funding in the US provided all other areas of the application is strong. You just need enough time for proper research.
I will like to encourage sometime with a little about my story. I graduated from a Nigerian university with a second-class lower division degree in STEM at 24 years and finished NYSC at 25 years. Unfortunately, as peculiar with Nigerian environmental, I got my first job at 28 years after 4 years in the wilderness. The delay in getting a job was my mediocre degree (i.e., finishing with 2.2) and lack of working experience at 25 years (how will I get the necessary work experience when I have never been employed).
Fast forward to a decade later, after working for over a decade, got frustrated with Nigeria society placing a limited to what you can achieve, I decide to make a change to my family situation by returning to school in US/Canada. Initially, there were few obstacles, I got admitted into a fully-funded master’s degree program in the US with an average stipend by God’s grace. I left the shore or Nigeria with my entire family and started the program at 40 years. I graduated with a master’s degree with a GPA of 3.56/4.0 at 42 years. Fortunately, I was admitted into a fully-funded Ph.D. program in Canada’s top university with a very generous stipend and started the program at 42 years. I have currently completed the program required coursework with a GPA of 4.0/4.0, passed candidacy exam, five publications, and 3 manuscripts under review in top peer-review journals.
What is my point? Despite where you might have started from, the environment you live might not be favorable to you, age or family commitments might be barriers. However, do not give up, please hold on to your dream. The grace of God will see you through. If you quit today, you have failed tomorrow.
Please note My story is not unique; I have seen many tremendous journeys of beautiful people who do not quit/give up and achieved great heights. I am sharing my story to encourage you that no barrier is big or strong enough to stop you from achieving your dream.
I hope to challenge someone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
steric58: good morning my issue is more Complicated I use this wrong date of birth on my BVN and NIMC ( National ID) same as on my international passport, I may leave the country soon once I complete all necessary exams I fear this may cause issue for me, have decided to change it at Immigration HQ abj but I have the following document bearing new date of birth which is my waec, Birth certificate, and first school leaving certificate will they accept this please help this has been giving me sleepless night, thank you.
You have to change the date of birth on your BVN and NIMC to the right information first before you can make changes on your international passport
Knight2: thanks... they said I will scan here in Lagos festac ND they will take it to Abuja to be done...
It is possible. For mine, I renewed my passport first in Lagos then it was sent to Abuja on my behalf to effect the change. The reason why we go to Abuja is for biometrics and capturing which I already did in Lagos and was valid for six months. If I didn't make the correction within six months then I would have needed to travel to Abuja.
PS: Ensure the person is genuine. Most people can't be trusted.
GIFTY11: Please I have my hard copy transcript which I got in 2017 from my school. Unofficially, I sent it to my dad's company and retrieved it. Please can I send it directly to WES after payment or does it have to come directly from my school. Having in mind that it was stamped and signed in 2017. Please help?
Your transcript must be sealed and have WES reference number before it can be sent to them. Bear in mind that WES send emails to schools for verification.
Please I will like to confirm the documents required from previous employers. Is it just a reference letter or bank statement and payslips are required?
oluwadamyte: Hello I made a mistake of not attaching my reference page to my certificate when sending to WES canada via Hellofax then I resend by correcting the initial mistake of not attaching reference page.
The profile have been on evaluationfor almost a week now Will WES still acknowledge the correct one?
Resend it with the right information(full names, certificate name and reference number. WES also updated their app and this updated app allows you upload your transcript directly.
pompeiimagnus: Felt like sharing my experience here since it might benefit intending MS students in the future. I just began my summer internship with an amazing solar energy company in CA, though due to Corona I'm working remotely from TX. My BS was in Industrial Eng, currently on my MS in Mech Eng, now I'm working as a project engineer intern in the development of an off-grid solar project. Some key points I'll like to share are:
1. Try to build a diverse skillset so you can have opportunities in other related disciplines as you can see from my profile. Engineers and IT folks have the edge here due to our training. Corona has shown that any job one can't perform remotely will always be impacted by economic downturns. So try to gain as much IT skills as you can during your MS and select your electives wisely.
2. Keep track of projects (coding, CAD, research, etc) you have done at school, work, or personally. You never can tell when they'd come in handy. In my zoom interview, I impressed my boss by presenting a 5slide PowerPoint which I had prepared about my undergrad solar project. I've also used this project in my scholarship applications to NSBE which I luckily won, and SHPE which I'm hoping to win. When attending career fairs, create one page pictorial illustrations of these projects and take them along with your resume. At my school's career fair this spring, when I showed the recruiter a picture of the project, she told me to expect a call from her because the company was working on something similar.
3. Don't miss any opportunity to meet recruiters and hiring managers at career fairs at your University or conventions by NSBE, SHPE & SWE. It gives you a foot in the door than when you simply apply online. Also brace yourself for rejections, it's nothing personal and I have received tons of regret mails. I only needed one Yes, but I had to earn it.
4. Socialize with Americans as much as you can especially by attending campus events. College students are very social and will warm up to you as far as you are focused, independent and likeable. My conversational skills and confidence have really improved from this. Also, you'd be surprised that you can learn a lot from undergrad students who look up to you as a TA/RA.
Lastly, never ever give up! Focus on what you can control and leave the rest to God. Best wishes to y'all.
smut: Hello guys , I have a question to ask as regards this new NIN . I heard that the NIN system is what is now linked to the immigration system to produce passports. What I mean is that, for those who want a change of data and have not yet applied for NIN can easily apply for the NIN on their new data in order to do their change of data on the new passport without paying any unnecessary money to any immigration officer for a change of information. As anyone already tried this ?
Apply for the NIN with the correct information and ensure the information tallies with that on BVN then head to immigration headquarters in Abuja.
Promotions: Please how do I go about with a change of date of birth? My kid sister was born 2001 but they used 1994, she went with the house aid who wasn't really educated that much..she ended up not using it since 2016 due to the error, how can we change it to 2001? She needs it for school as she intends schooling in the U.S by August. We're based in Abuja...Thank you
Visit the immigration headquarters in Abuja to rectify it. She needs documents proving her correct date of birth.
angelbammy19: Pls, my mum got her E-passport yesterday but there is an error on the DOB i.e instead of 4th of September, they wrote 9th of April..like 9/4/1999 instead of 4/9/1999.... Will she have to go to Abuja to rectify it or she can get it done in the place of issuance.... Need your advice
Please go back to the place of issue to complain. I think they can rectify it there since it was recently issued to her.
#Justwise is very true. All my visa applications I didn't explain because there is a place in a drop box that u will be asked how many times av u travelled in the uk, then how long did u stay. No need of explaining any thing if you had a genuine reason that u visited and u never overstay. My 1st visa for six months I put Two weeks and stayed more, then another visa I stayed 3months and the next six months I stayed, So I never explained and got all my visa. I will advise that the person in question need not explain too much, if no overstay, just tell the ECO that u really enjoyed your vacation in the UK and will be glad if given another opportunity.
Is your immediate family based in the UK? Do you have a verifiable business?
