This isn't the right thread to seek advice on your car. Open a thread or find existing thread for that.

As for the 3,000 fuel finishing in a day, maybe you were driving from Lagos to Abuja which is a days journey and it finished on the way. Just speculating tho.

Setting out a repair plan.

Some invasive jobs on the list will render vehicle temporarily disabled until work is completed, those jobs will be shifted to last so we can get more work done with a functionally running engine in case drive tests are required .

We will work in this order.

Items 7, 4, 1, 2, 5, 3, 6 then finally 8.

Let's start.

Taking out the VTEC actuator and solenoid has disrupted the repair plan set out.

I will be draining the Engine engine oil to inspect for metal shredding or particles, then replacing all seals relating to the VTEC system. Will also replace the pressure switch and actuator (even though I am sure they are working fine) I'll rather just work with new (Toks) parts free from previous abuse. Will try and get new harnesses for the parts .

Request that he revisit the rear diff.

Honda is kind of picky in the kind of fluid it uses for its rotating parts.

Thanks brah.

That was one of the first things he mentioned when we met. He thinks of everything I must add. To the smallest detail.

When I was about leaving his office he called me back to remind me to check if I left my house keys in the vehicle. cheesy

As small as that is I was very impressed. He is the FIRST auto technician to remind me of such. This tells me that he pays attention to details.

I can be quite forgetful of little things like that but thankfully, on the day my wife got me covered.

Update on catalytic converter.

Installing spacers was becoming a Herculean task with manifolds still attached to the engine., So we decided to bring them down.

With the catalytic converter down we noticed catalytic converter material in the sensor 1 areas of both manifolds.

Further inspections reveals a disintegration of the catalytic converter. It's a good thing we caught it this early , would have been fatal to the engine and work being done.

We will gut both banks out and keep the contents for the client when he comes to pick up.

The O2 sensors have been literarily glued to the manifolds and would not unscrew without a little persuasion.

Totally speechless.

It is sad the vehicle was certified roadworthy just a week or two ago.

Baba, I am seriously in your debt. This service CANNOT be free. We will need to discuss billing at some point.

This is some serious work.

Thank you.

Running Items 3, 4 and 9 simultaneously.

Found leaking intake hoses that could cause future codes and have replaced them, all filters are old and dusty and are being replaced .

Oil drained, no metal particles found.

Installing manifolds, VTEC actuators and oil pressure switch.

Now I am really worried about the state of health for that engine.
The catalyst element has already started disintegrating.
I was wondering, does this engine have EGR? If yes then engine may have to be dismantled ( or a scope used) to inspect the cylinder walls.
I would have said intake valves too but thank God there is no engine misfire.

He should be prepared for a higher exhaust note( growl).. If the client was Heavenlybang I would have said you have answered his prayers grin

P.S. The heat applied to remove the oxygen sensors may end up ruining them. Prepare for a replacement.

I remember the first time I drove the car, I mentioned that turning the steering results in a drop in RPM instead of a rise which will compensate for the new load.

Well there lies the problem.

Power steering pressure switch not connected .

Harness is damaged .

I am wondering why no one recommended coolant in this vehicle? Was it your inability to afford it or just forgetfulness.

Put the car together again and now it throws just one code on the Engine ECU P2649 this code is triggered immediately vehicle is started .

Let's copy and paste again.

P2649 Possible Causes
What does this mean?
Low or overfilled engine oil (nope I just changed oil)
Incorrect engine oil type (used 5w20 mobil1)

Faulty 'A' Rocker Arm Actuator (tested the solenoid it works)
'A' Rocker Arm Actuator harness is open or shorted (harness at the bottom is fine but continuity not checked all the way to engine ecu )
'A' Rocker Arm Actuator circuit poor electrical connection (connections are now firm)

Monday we will take apart the engine harness and trace connections from the solenoid to the engine ecu.

That's as much as we were able to do today.

Meanwhile the SHW light came up caused by a communication code. (Lost communication)

Will be looking at a lot of wires on Monday.
