When you are not or no longer working, and somebody asks you how is your work.

How do you reply them?

Do you say, work is fine or you just tell them plainly that you are no longer working?

I find the answers both awkward

Technically, work is fine

Situational and Individual response.

How you respond to same question from someone you bumped into at the market is different from how you will respond to someone you met at/in a summit or prolly church.

Depending on the status and relationship you have with the person, you can either make a passing comment like "fine thank you" or kukuma just say "we are still waiting for miracle"

Abi?

But the bottom line is, your response should be based on the individuals and relationship.

I let them know I am jobless and not working.

So, if its the type that will help me, so be it,

But if its the ones that will want to bad mouth me silently, let thunder strike them from all corners of the 7 geopolitical zones.

But again i am wrong, and i see more reason why i am wrong, so i agree with trying to hide or somewhat lie, although i am the type of person that hates twisting things cheesy cheesy cheesy, there are some people who are just looking for new gossips, or just have a habit of ridiculing others, so its better to say its fine to them.

I hardly trust people especially in Nigeria, so i developed this habit of just simple responses, like its fine etc. Although i would really like to say more or say it as it is.

it's depend on the person that is asking you such question, will you like to tell a moker on the street that you don't have a job? at the end of it they will use it against you, pls we have to be very careful with the people we opened up our secret to.

Re: How Do You Respond To This Kind Of Question? by SeriouslySense(m): 10:11am On May 01, 2021
cheesy exactly you got it 100 percent, this was one of the things i thought about, and realized i was wrong to consider total honesty, especially those ones that sit on the street, and have a good day chatting about everyone else and have nothing to improve about themselves. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Just imagine jobless people, who have no goals, haggling about your issues cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy.

Is not like they can help or are trying to help, they are just bored. Neither does it concern them or have any impact on them.

That was how I was asked some months back.

I firstly answered, i bless the name of God o. Then, moved closer to him and say, Oga, help me for i am jobless.

The guy connected me sharply.

Sometimes, we don't know who we meet on daily basis....no need to fake up. Be truthful and let your help assist you

Or be real and say you are looking for another job for now!

Just say the truth. The person may be the one that will refer you to a new job.
There is always that point in our lives when we want to talk to someone and clearly explain to them how we feel deep down, but you do not open up to everyone that asks you how is work.

If it's someone you feel can be of help to you in getting another job, it will be wise to let him/her know your current state.

If it's just a random person looking for regular gossip, you can tell him/her fine, so as to avoid being the topic of their next discussion.
You never can tell who will render the help.
