BlackBaron: A significant number of protesters came with guns. This was carried all over SM as well. Videos I personally saw showed the Army firing blank bullets. If ENDSARS is going to prevent us getting US weapons, all wheel and good. Hopefully bandits get empowered and start on the fine boys and girls in the cities who make up the bulk of EndSARS. The point at which Nigeria is now, people should start suffering consequences of their actions immediately. Maybe brains will reset. 1 Like |

EricBraven:It's not about the number of the dead. I don't know why we keep defending things aimlessly. Was the Nigerian Army at the toll gate? Yes. Were protesters shot and injured? Yes. Did we lose at least a Nigerian citizen to a Nigerian army bullet? Yes. Case closed. Firstly, the Nigerian army wasn't supposed to be there. I don't know if there was any official invitation by the government. The Nigerian army wasn't supposed to shoot live rounds on its citizens or at any target cos it wasn't a violent protest. The Nigerian army wasn't shot at or assaulted. This is a total breach of the Nigerian army rules of engagement and international laws guiding human rights. 5 Likes |

Stormtrooper11: The rotesters were not supposed to be there. There was a curfew. A curfew was imposed because acts of arson and looting were already taking place. Nigerians should eschew sentimentality and victimhood. It is very irritating. Why block the most important highway in Lagos to protest against Police?. Itwas most cowardly and I am perversely happy that many young people have lost jobs, livelihoods and careers due to the reduction in FDI caused by the demonstrations. Guys will learn the hard way and generationally that you don't ever misuse your freedoms. In SA the same stupidity. A corrupt politician jailed for stealing from a generation of young people and same youths wrecked their own country protesting the Judgement. A generation of dunces. 6 Likes 1 Share |

RiceProducers:Damn. Curfew? Heard this countless times. Curfew was 8pm. People were hearing shots at 6:50 pm. We got no excuse for killing our people. Why don't you arrest them? Was the Army invited? Things were already bad before those protests. Nigerians protested not only because of Sars but inequality and bad economic policies. We all saw the looting of warehouses that followed. People were hungry and poor. SA and Nigeria are different situations entirely. One is using the cover of protesting for a politician to loot, cos of poverty and unemployment. The latter, is fed up with its government. Only one thing relates both, i.e Poverty and unemployment. Its the fuel for protests and anarchy 5 Likes |

RiceProducers:Lol. Is this an actual suggestion or mistype regarding bandits (essentially a terrorist group)? In other words, state sponsored empowerment to go after others with weapons. When done with EndSARS, you think they won't come for you too? SMDH! Individuals carrying weapon (if any, were hoodlums seeking the guise of protests or such and should rightfully face the full force of the law when caught) |

You can't carry an arrest just like that. It is unprofessional. This is why politicians will use the police on innocent Nigerians and nothing will happen cos we are oblivious of our rights. Stormtrooper11:oga human rights, asking why was the army there, we all know since objs time till now, the police has been crippled an made ineffective, the army does stop and search, army controls traffic, the army responds to armed robbery calls, the army helps in making arrest, the army provides VIP protection, infact the army does everything now in Nigeria in regards to internal security because the police is I'll equipped, I'll trained etc so tell me why won't the army be there when the army that should be resting in barracks now do all the work, sometimes the way you guys talk with so much confidence all just to tarnish Nigeria amazes me, and ur Nigerians so annoying 2 Likes 1 Share |

Stormtrooper11: There's no evidence till date that anyone died from bullets of Nigerian army. According to the hospitals around the lekki toll gate, the wounded protesters had pellet gunshot wounds and the army doesn't use pump action rifles or Oka. Even the US made this known a while ago that there's no evidence. 4 Likes |

So because it has been happening since OBJ time, means we should continue? I thought this government said they were different? I thought they said they will recruit 10,000 policemen and expand the police? I thought they have regard for the constitution. Nothing is right here. I'm saying what was supposed to be done. You are defending mediocrisy. You are defending this weak system that doesn't give a damn about you and i, and our generations to come. Do you think I'm happy my country is this way? Why would I derive joy in insulting my country? I'm not a bastard. I'm not a traitor. I stand for the country not its government. Why shouldn't talk about our hurtful matters? youghs:That's how you people will keep defending evil till it touches your family members. Don't know what Nigerians gain in being dishonest. That was how Jumoke a petty hawker was killed by police bullets in the Odua protest, only for the police to deny it that she was killed by protesters citing her injury was a stab wound which forensics later showed she was shot only for same police to shamelessly charge some arrested protesters for shooting a girl they initially claimed was stabbed. That was how Shiites were killed and buried in mass grave yet some of you deny this fact. The Lekki incident was covered live on Instagram with over 140k watching yet you still deny the obvious. Continue defending the indefensible e go soon touch you. 12 Likes |

Stormtrooper11:I am not defending anything but I just like that the truth be established. Was the Nigeria army at lekki? Yes. Was shot fired? Yes. What kind of bullet was fired? Blank We're protesters injured? Yes due to the scrambling for their defined safety. Did we lose a Nigeria citizen to the bullet of the army? Can't ascertain that, cos it has not been proven. There was an official invitation from the state government to the army asking them to assist them ensure that the curfew was adhere to. The protest at lekki was not turning violent but the army has a job to do which is disperse the crowd. The didn't shoot live round cos if they did,I promise you blood will flow like water at the toll with the amount of people there and the closeness of the soldiers to the protesters. Stormtrooper11: The Nigerian military is overstretched with tasks they are not supposed to do - providing public security is one of them. Riot control for example should be handled exclusively by the police who are trained and mandated for this task. There are certain situations were the support of the army could be necessary but this should always be exceptional and not the routine as it is at the moment. The reason why the military is so present in public spaces has to do with decades of military rule where the Police was mistrusted, disarmed and crippled by fine gentleman like Buhari to the point were the NPF became almost dysfunctional. The results of decades of decay of the NPF left visible scars in the Nigerian society where ordinary people can barely distinguish between criminals and criminals in uniform. Building up a Police service that "serves" its citizen and performs professional in all aspects needs financial investment and willing to reform /restructure the current NPF from head to toe. |
