one of the main reasons GEJ lost the elections is terr:orist expl:osions happening in Abuja... If b:uhari hands over to a southerner that terr:orism is going to be back in full force.. remember they ( northerners and northern politicians ) said they will make GEJ's tenure ungovernable...

If buha:ri hands over to a southerner all they have to do is what they did during GEJ's tenure with the help of the tin:ubu and some south westerner's.. If a southerner is president the north just has to get another southern tribe to protest against the southerner while also carrying out terr:orist explo:sions and att:acks in some places and also the help of foreign cable news channel to help blow it out of imagination.

In summary, even if the person is better than buha:ri some people will ensure Nigeria is ungovernable and you guys will be back ignorantly saying "I told you so" instead of "they are making this tenure ungovernable"...

I think we should stop the discrimination here. We select the best should be the criteria for selection. Not where you are born. I will only prefer home grown selection for underage teams to help many here who lack support to succeed.

However, I still propose large camping and screening exercises from time to time to select the best that suit the system of the coach. Not colour of skin or place of birth.

It is disheartening seeing attacks on our brothers because of where they were born.

what you see as discrimination, is not discrimination to others defending home grown players in fact it will be seen as you who is discriminating against home grown players..

what you also fail to consider is that a lot of Nigerians born in the mid 80s and early 90s would want some of their children to go into sports especially football since most of our parents focused on education then getting job, people now will want their to focus on both education and sports and other things..

you're trying to pour sand and cement to block their plans.. they'll see it as you're been wicked..

I have said a quota system of 70% - 80% homegrown players and 20% - 30% foreign born... the only team I would 30% - 40% foreign born is the Super Falcons but again homegrown football women need it more than the foreign borns because most european leagues use their women leagues to provide jobs for their own women..

No more political comments from me until next month... unless I political comments made out of ignorance which is one of the main reasons I decided to comment...

A lot of southern Nigerians don't know or don't admit that no matter how good one or if a person means well for the people that person can be sabotaged by other people...

its the same issue we are talking about with foreign born players... some people ( especially on this thread ) want to sabotage the homegrown players no matter how good the homegrown players are just to ensure foreign born players are included in the team. they don't what to admit that Nigeria has better homegrown players.

When it comes to the national team, representation should be by the best. Not status or where you were born. I have insisted that age grade tourneys should serve as development platforms due to the gulf in class with respect to opportunities and education.

However, the main National team is to win honours and bring pride to the country. You can not sacrifice results at that stage to give people opportunity.

What you need at that stage is a fair format to select the best. That is given a fair chance for the best to qualify. That is why I still recommend a camping and screening exercise at certain intervals, likely every two years.

At the end, we should get that we have no right to restrict their participation.

It is their right. It is their country and home. Whether born in Nigeria or not. Give all fair opportunities by selecting only the best.

This is one of the reasons I want the likes of Amunike and Finidi George running the helms of affairs of the Super Eagles. These guys participated in screening camps of Westerhoff and I believe understand the system.

Spend a lot of time screening by watching games, both live in stadiums, local and abroad. Also watch matches on tv and online. Then draft a list of the best candidates. Camp, screen and select. After running a course with them, making cases for special breakthroughs, and playing in major tournaments, run the cycle again.

Westerhoff spotted a 16 years old Daniel Amokachi and invited him to camp after watching him play for Ranchers Bees. That is the mind set. No Star left behind.

Cape Verde is a small archipelago island nation in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Africa.
The country is mired in absolute poverty, with 30% of its citizens below the poverty line.
The World Bank estimates that 14% of the population is living in extreme poverty.
With a crisis of this magnitude, the government of Cape Verde is dependent on the receipt of international aid to maintain relative stability (Josh Forget). World Bank.
For a country with a population of less than 600, 000 (562, 583) this is disgraceful. Statistics, not pictures, my guy!

I don't want to derail this thread. This space is for football.

I'll round this one up by telling you that the standard of living in Cape Verde is much better in Nigeria. I have been to multiple cities in both countries and I have also read all the stuff you can read on the net just like the one you have quoted. I didn't say it was a rich country, it is however a fully functional one. You asked if I had been to the countries I listed that's why I attached pics as proof.

Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world and nothing works there as it should, from sports to education to politics to the police etc etc If you don't believe me just google poverty capital of the world and see what comes up. I'll give you a hint, it won't be Cape Verde.

I have been to over 50 countries and yet to see one as chaotic as Nigeria...okay maybe Benin Republic comes close. cheesy

It's still my county though. Just stating facts.

Quota's for guaranteed places are counter productive. They just breed laziness. If all players are deemed to be eligible why place a quota of where they come from? Should we have a quota for the under represented North?

Merit over quota is the only assured way of eliminating complacency and ensuring you are represented by the absolute best you can put forward.

Barcelona let Messi go due to FFP,, which is 56% of their earnings, so Messi taking that paycheck to renew, will increase it plus their players waiting for clear up, e.g new signings

Now that of PSG is 99% of their earnings,

Now BTW Barcelona and PSG, who should be banned for signing players, according to FFP rules?

Mind you Barcelona are the ones logging the complaint

There's already a quota for northerners that's why Musa and some northern players must make the team.

I guess the northern brothers should be more vocal about their representation not being a true reflection of their share of the population. Northerners make up over 50% of our population and so should form half of the team or fairness will not have been achieved.

When you agree to the above then we can start to discuss discrimination against foreign born Nigerians. I will even support you on it...

When northerners get better players than Southerners they'll automatically be allowed to have a higher percentage of players.

But majority of sports is given to southerners for reasons I don't know..
