The godfathers often keep their jokers in the pack closer to their chest till the last minute.The result is always that the one who's with the loudest campaign do not always win in the end.The Abiola and Ernest Shonekan scenario should be brought to mind.Likewise the Awolowo and Obasanjo situations.In this two scenarios, the losing candidates had wider political structures across the nation but were never picked by the northern elites for the top job!

Historically, all the past leaders which the south west have produced all came from Ogun state. From Obasanjo, Ernest Shonekan etc. Yemi Osibanjo is from Ogun state, so your guess is as good as mine.
