The Federal Government has disclosed that the Second Niger Bridge linking Anambra and Delta states, originally scheduled for completion in February 2022, is now 91 per cent completed.
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, made this announcement on Thursday during the Special Weekly ministerial briefing at the State House in Abuja.
According to him, the 206 billion naira project has directly employed 1,486 people, while 8,110 indirect jobs have equally been created.

Babatunde Raji Fashola, Nigeria's Minister for Works and Housing, has appreciated the role Ex-governor Willie Obiano played in contributing to the progress of the Second Niger Bridge. During a recent interview with Babajide Kolade-otitoju on TVC News, the former governor of Lagos State added that the Second Niger Bridge is the second biggest project under his watch asides from the Abuja-Kano project.


Addressing the project, Fashola said, "The Second Niger Bridge is the second biggest project under my watch as the Abuja-Kano project is worth over N700 billion. The Abuja-Kano project is 375km, and it has a 4-lane carriageway with 41 bridges. We are rebuilding it from base-up. The Second Niger Bridge costs N206 billion. President Muhammadu Buhari had invited me to a meeting shortly after I became a Minister. During the said meeting, the President told me that the Second Niger Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ilorin-Jeba, and Abuja-Kano are his priorities. It is that important."

Fashola added, "Many people must take credit for this development. The members of the National Assembly deserve credit. Former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano deserves a lot of credit for helping us manage the local issues. Governor Okowa also played his part on the Asaba side. The traditional rulers in all the communities were key to this progress. The Obi of Onitsha and the Asagba of Asaba are vital to this development. It has taken an entire nation to do this."

I gained nothing personal except the common good of Anambra. While we mock and shout crusify him; let's not forget the sacrifices he made to put Anambra on the map.

Till tomorrow, Obiano's lobbying capacity is one attribute you can't just find in any leader. Although not an APC gov but Anambra has benefitted more from APC led federal govt than most APC states.
You were able to lobby to make Anambra an Oil producing state, lobbied to bring Court of Appeal to Anambra, lobbied for second Niger Bridge, Fed Secretariat completion, Police Zonal headquarters, then even when some interests in APC tried to frustrate this Airport project you lobbied successfully and has handed over a 100 percent ready Airport.

While we look forward for a better Anambra; I don't know when Anambra will get a leader with this particular quality again.

Very embarrassing. I always tell people that peter obi is more interested in being godfather of Anambra politics than Nigerian president. The reason for all the media campaigns he sponsored against Obiano was because Obiano shut him out from Anambra politics, making him lose all LGAs in Anambra guber elections twice..

Peter Obi is a thief and a very sad joke. The only more disheartening thing is that some Anambrarians are still deceived by his pretenses. From preaching about the need for everyone to invest in Nigeria instead of stashing money abroad while stashing his own hundreds of millions of dollars in hidden overseas accounts.
