The Nigeria we live in, someone goes to the police to report you either wrongly or rightly, the police gets a court order to restrict your account without inviting you to tell your side of the story. We live in a lawless society. This is not to say that many Nigerians behave well above standards. But the police can do better.

Crypto transaction has landed you in trouble

whatever you do make sure you wear clean pant on the day you visit the bank. you dont want the arresting officers when they strip you naked in the police cell to see dirty paynts

Since to the best of your knowledge, you are into legit business,I will advise you get someone working in the bank to brief you, if possible on possible reason for the restriction, then get a lawyer to advise you. Don't just rush into the banking hall else.......

Do you engage in a single transaction that is above 5M or 10M for the first time? Do you engage in any transaction that has Crypto discription? Do you use any of your bank account for pickup that is above 5M-10M for the first time?

If the answer to any of the above transactions is yes, then you have to visit the bank asap to sort it out.

What was the figure of the last 3-5 transactions you did with any of your bank account? Did you receive fraudulent cash from hackers or Yahoo boys that is above 5M-10M?

Also, what is your state of account regarding the type of business you do?

If you can answer the above questions clearly, then you don't have to be scared. Just go to your bank and sort it out. Otherwise, just stay low and meet an insider privately for better clarification before visiting any branch of your bank to avoid arrest...

You are not telling us the whole truth,if you know you were among people that got or money been transfer to you through mtn mono agent which was hacked days ago,you better not visit bank or else DSS go hold you

If there is no court order freezing your account and it was placed by law enforcement agencies without a court order… sue the banks!

Once his BVN is flagged it's all over. Every account linked to that BVN would get restricted.

Yes they can; remember you linked your BVN to all your accounts.
All that is needed is to contact NIBSS to hotlist the BVN then all acct goes locked.

No one can tell you why as it is also an offence -tipping off and the fellow can loose the job/be persecuted.

Let me share you a live experience, you may not have done any illegal transaction or involved in any shady deals, they can freeze your account too in order to arrest somebody who have transact with you within a period of time, if its difficult for them to track the person down they might use the person's transaction history to get him or her, certainly EFCC or ICPC are behind it, bank will never be honest with you in this case, if you go alone they will hand you over to the police instantly and it may be embarrassing, go with a lawyer they will respect him a little and they you will go for some questioning.

It doesn't look like an individual something. His BVN was flagged since it affected all his accounts,..
He should get a lawyer on standby, and visit the bank with a friend or relative following from a distance to observe if he'll be arrested, in the event he is that person will quickly alert the lawyer to show up.

For you to come to nairaland shows you're kinda guilty of something...lol last time someone sent me 20m and my account was frozen for it, I went to bank to clear my name and prove it was legit funds...I didn't run to nairaland....lol

Arrest by proxy is prohibited in the ACJA 2015. Before they pick an individual now, he or she must have a case to answer.

Probably from efcc or the police...could be that you received an inflow from someone who's under investigation. check yourself or cliques. You r in some kind of trouble...

Even if you run to under the rock. Anywhere in the world, the law enforcement agencies have the right to write to the bank to freeze your account when you are under investigation...una too dey spoil nigeria.

Earlier this year I suffered same thing.
Mine was even worst, I had 3.9million someone sent me for Paypal funds in the account and it was froozen, couldn't transfer, money was in ledger balance.
My saving grace was my account officer, she was my classmate.
She told me the particular transaction that triggered the lock.
I went to the police and made a statement cause the transaction was even suspicious when it happened.
I went next day with a lawyer to the bank I was arrested but was released same day cause I was heavily pregnant and had my evidence handy.
The only thing I was told was to come every morning to the station for question and for me to help the investigation.
Unfortunately, someone came and asked me my rate for Bitcoin, I told him.
He asked for my account I gave him, he sent me money not knowing he used my account to collect kidnap ransom.
He even dashed me 300k out of the 5million he sent me for $10k BTC.
He was like I should take it, cause I told him he over paid. The rate I told him was 470/$ instead of paying 4.7million he paid 5million, I though I met Santa.
Not knowing he didn't want me to have his account number if I should send him 300k.
