Singlelover:The neonate should be taken to a proper hospital and be evaluated appropriately. I'm sure no doctor would ask you to take a neonate with jaundice home without at least first doing a serum bilirubin assay . Don't kill that innocent chap please !!! Take her/him to the hospital ASAP |

Early morning sun works and you should consult local herbs for it. If you don't like herbs, visit general hospital and they will treat your baby accordingly. 60% of new born baby comes with jaundice but you have to act now. |

What you need do is get an unripe pawpaw, cut it and soak in water and let her mother drink it every one hour and also give your baby too, she will also likely suck from her mother breast.... My daughter is 1.6month now and she's very clean.... That thing has no cure, if you go to the hospital, they will tell you your child would be placed under one machine like that, baba nah set up, is just waiting of money..... 2 Likes |

Please I beg you in the name of God...take your baby to a paediatrician specialist. Putting the baby under son want do anything,I know this cause same thing happened to my baby about 3months ago.Thank God it was not too late...But be prepared we did blood transfusion twice because of the billirubin level in the blood...thank God it didn't affect his brain....don't go to just any hospital,that was why I mentioned paediatrician specialist. |

My 2 week old baby was treated with home remedy. Grandma got unripe pawpaw, cut it into tiny pieces, put it inside an empty bottle, then added water and let it stay overnight. Gave him 3 times a day for 3 days and jaundice disappeared. Went back to the hospital to check his bilirubin level and it was normal. The same thing was done for my first child. I have same experience with my son when he was a baby. Fisrt thing first,go and do a test to check if the Jaundice bilirubin level is not too high,if it's too high,the baby must receive blood transfusion to avoid brain damage. If the Doctor says you only need phototherapy to clear the jaundice then it's something you can handle if you know what to do. What I did then: 1. I set up my own phototherapy at home.I the regular wooden baby court covered with baby mosquito net. 2. I arranged 4 flourecent lamb(2 blue and 2 white) on top of the baby court,resting on the net. 3. I placed the baby with his eyes covered inside the court and takes him out only when the mum wants to feed or bath for him. I did this for 3 days and also expose him to the morning sun.Took him to the hospital to repeat the test and the bilirubin level dropped significantly.The enitre process last for like 8 days and the Doctor later confirm that the baby is okay. My story When we had the baby,the bilirubin level became shoots up after 2 days which was quite normal.The Doctors instructed the Nurses to arrange a phototherapy session for the baby.Trust Nigerian Nurses,the set up was poorly done and the baby's bilirubin level started going up instead of dropping.At times the light wont be on and the baby will be there crying for hours without been attended to.I was so furious with the Nurses and I complained to the Doctors as well.After 5 days and still no improvement,I have to take the baby home against the Doctors decision,that was after filling the consent form anyway. If I dint take that decision,they would have transfused my baby... Disclaimer : It was a personal decision and I wont advise any to do such. 2 Likes |

Please carry baby go teaching hospital. They do billirubin level tests and apply appropriate lighting to clear jaundice. It might also not be that alone affecting the baby so they would apply appropriate care. Yeah, sun might help but you should seek proper medical attention first . Home remedy might just be a side help. Should not be the default. 1 Like |

Singlelover: Take that baby to the hospital ooo if you are in Lagos take him to Maternal and child center oo. Jaundice is not joke abeg you. If he needs phototherapy they will place him under blue light. If it's EBT they will know. 3 weeks jaundice abeg oo. Please I beg you with whatever you belive in. |

Singlelover: Op go to the hospital or your doctor and request phototherapy treatment for the baby, I don't know if you have the money to run it it involves blindfolding the baby with a small towel and a light will be passed to the child where the child will be laying face up because it needs regular electricity and also exposing the child to morning sunlight between 7:30am-11am is also good one other local remedy I know is you getting unripe papaya (pawpaw) slice it into pieces then soak in a clean table water container and give to the child thrice daily that is once in morning, afternoon and evening. Please how old is the child? My two sons had it when they were born. It's a worrying situation but be calm as everything will work well. You can also meet one of these yoruba women who sell agbo if you are the type that believes in herbal. When you expose the child to morning sunlight, please uncloth the child and don't let it be too long because babies catch cold easily. How old is the child please? |

I begged to disagree on this,it's depends on the level of the billirubin.Mine had to go through blood transfusion before he became ok. We noticed at delivery but it was getting worse ..he was admitted at day 3. Thank God he is fine now,he is 3months today,to the glory of God. wunmi590: 1 Like |

Pediatrician specialist is advices, you don't know your baby GCPD so don't try any remedy on your own. I know of Phototherapy which is done with a machine in the hospital, if that doesn't work, then the jaundice is much and sometimes they flush the blood and transfuse another from a donor. Let the pediatrician decide because his GCPD level will determine the treatment. The more you wait, the more it increases. Act fast pls. |

If it isn't working, is because you ain't placing that baby in the recommended 15mins of daily sunlight. It works. Maybe you are fretting because you are a first-time mom. If that jaundice was so severe, the hospital wouldn't discharge you and the infant, the Infant would have been receiving phototherapy. So do the daily sunshine exposure and read up on the effects of jaundice on a child, once you know you will do it religiously. I can categorically tell you it works because it worked for my brother years ago. Then see a pediatrician. 1 Like |

Singlelover: How old is this baby? Jaundice is not something you should joke with. It requires all emergencies I'm the newborn. I have 4 kids, 3 has Jaundice, Neonatal Jaundice. My first 2 were on admissions and under photocare for 8 days each, in fact, the first had his naming ceremony at the hospital, the second had her naming ceremony after discharge from the hospital. Now, the 3rd had exchanged blood transfusion twice. Since I started ANC, for the 3rd pregnancy, I kept singing it to the Consultant, the midwives, the nurses, that all my babies had aundice. So, after delivery, we were discharged and preparing for home, then the HCA who was feeding the child said she noticed Jaundice on the baby, next thing, blood test, and they didn't return the child to my bedside. What I saw again was an ambulance from a more superior hospital to where I work. They didn't even gain my consent before they picked her, the ambulance came with a Consultant Neonatologist, a senior Neonatal nurse and another ambulance team member. This child had her blood changed (EBT) twice in less than 48 hours but I thank God she's fine. Milestone is superb. You know my fear, if the Jaundice enters the baby's brain, it can turn them to vegetable. So, please, take that child to the hospital. I'm a Christian, I pray a lot but I love adding knowledge to my faith. I also know that Luke was a Physician. I pray, I work, I allow health workers to do their jobs. 2 Likes |

My two kids both were jaundiced at birth and I refused for them to be delayed at the hospital after birth... My mum was treating them with traditional lantern light and a herb made of pawpaw leaf I think... kindly ask around abt this... it worked so fast and the jaundice cleared off in no time in both cases 1 Like |
