Good morning Mr GVR

My Question: what is your ideology, because i fell you are a capitalist, and what is Labour Party ideology (because all over the world Labour Party has a socialist ideology). How do you as a capitalist enlightened most of us that a capitalist could be a flag bearer in a socialist party. The same applies to your Principal and his gang of Capitalist in a Socialist party ideology setup

Why can't he abolish the iyaloja title if it is used as a conduit for siphoning traders' funds and oppressing them? Why can't a people-oriented law be made to abolish a people-oppressive tradition?

A lot of people in this Nigeria are Soo myopic...someone said he can't win his ward and that is the gospel truth.....where is this mans structure...you can't win anything in Nigeria without having the right backing and being under the right party ..

Let's stop being sentimental....even the agberos and market men and women you are all shouting about are structures used to wiln elections...all your ranting here won't change that fact..

The informal sector in Nigeria is predominantly 75% and you think a few keyboard warriors will change an existing system...haba

2023 is too early for him to think about managing a state as complex as Lagos....

My advice would be to align...build his structure....and look at the next few years.

Intelligence is not the only took in winning elections...if it was, ....

Kingsley Moghalu sill be a top contender for presidency...

Open your eyes people

I don't support anyone extorting anyone. I'm from Lagos and I have also experienced similar issues in the past. It's not just people from afar.
Lagos has always been like this even before Tinubu got into politics, anyone who told you otherwise is lying.
Google Adebayo Success and read about him during Shagari and NPN politics. I'm old enough to remember him very well.
Also, are you telling me that you don't have agbero in the SE? Because I know for a fact that you do have lots of agbero but you seem only concerned about Lagos agberos.
Buying land in Africa and Nigeria in particular has always been issue not just in the SW but also in the SE. This is due to poor record keeping and the fact that we pass properties from generation to generation without good record keeping.
I recently bought a land in my own town in Lagos State, after paying, some more families came out to lay claim to the land. This is in my own small town, not Lagos city with agebros. These are families that know my family from way back.
I had to settle them again just to get them off my back.

Lagos is like NY city, wild, crazy and fast pace. In NY city, some shop owners till today still have to pay some people to be able to own or sell in their shops. It's illegal but still happens. Go to any major city around the world and I bet that you will find similar stories in some form or another. Chinese cities, Japanese and other Asians have similar situations.
Pls google paying thugs in Tokyo and read about "years-long practice: paying “protection” money to yakuza gangsters".
This is in Tokyo, probably the safest city in the whole world.
That it happens in other countries doesn't make it right and encourage to speak against it and vote those that arms them i believe you are familiar with whom have been aiding them here on Lagos

Reckless bus drivers contribute immensely to the traffic situation in Lagos, how will you handle this while maintaining a decent road transportation system?
In a similar answer I gave to revamping the entire transport system, old drivers will need to be retrained as well as new drivers trained , as well upgrading ( through repairs or replacement) and regulating our current fleet as well as strong enforcement of rules and penalties for rule breakers to ensure the quality of transport goes up. but this doesn't just apply to the bus drivers , everyone too has to be more careful with driving, lagos has gotten the reputation of having reckless drivers in general and that has to change.

Nigerians are ready to dismantle the cabals that has tie this country down for so long. These cabals are everywhere and we must deal with them.

However, I agree with the guy who says Your chances of winning this election will astronomically increase if peter Obi wins, which is very true.

Thank you I schooled in MIT in regards to architecture and a focus on estate. development , I worked on projects in america and even china. The traffic situation in Lagos can be remedied by both short and long term solutions. first we have to decongest business centers and encourage the opening of other business clusters in under-utilised areas, to direct traffic to other areas and relieve pressure from congested areas, improve contract award of road building and repairs so that they can be held accountable when the road washes away quickly. Drainage, lagos is in dire need of good draining and all across the state we need to revamp the drainage system to prevent road damage as well flooding.
Creation of a true intermodal transport network harnessing water, rail, tram and stronger and more robust public transport. The funding for such exists, what it takes is having a government who is committed to making it happen, that is what I and the labour party want to bring to lagos, a truly working lagos for all classes of people, and for all lagosians, not just those on the island.

Your party seem more concerned with voting the Presidential candidate.

How do you intend to ensure they buy into the idea that for Peter Obi to function effectively at federal level, they also need to support you.

will it not be great to impose a transparent yet random drug test for all transport workers ? In advanced nations, paratroopers have privilege of conducting basic alcohol level/limit tests. That will be great for Lagos.

thanks for this piece sir. Majority of these people are born in 20s, they are carried away by social media. They are ignorant yet they feel like they know everything. Some of them were not even born when Tinubu ruled as Lagos state governor, February is here, some will learn how to learn.

GRV,you're my man anyway anytime. I have these few questions for you.
1. What is your plan on the Agricultural sector of the state and what strategies do you have planned for ensuring food security and more affordable feeding.
2. Do you have any road map for the IT sector that is a hot cake in Lagos state now? If yes, what?
3. Traffic is one of the most unpalatable things disturbing Lagosians. What are you going to do further in other transport sectors like Rail, Water e.t.c

Mr GRV,

What is your plan on Touts/Agberos that are constituting nonsense all over the state?

Secondly, The Island currently have one access road and your answer on traffic decongestion is too ambiguous for me to see a clear path that will lead to decongestion on the Ajah corridor.

Thridly, I believe it's time for our generation to take over from the useless generation above us who did nothing but amplified our problems. So what is the criteria you will use in forming your cabinet if elected? can we see some names that will be on your cabinet?

PS, don't worry you already have my vote.

the most different thing I will do differently is offer transparency in budgets and projects, as it stands projects in lagos cost 3x/4x the world bank benchmarks, grossly overinflated and always taking way over time to be delivered. I will emphasise partnerships with the private sector without the state taking a chunk of the business and add transparency to contractor selection process. Urban renewal and development of other parts of lagos to take pressure off the island and reduce traffic, building a robust intermodal transport network harnessing water networks, buses, tram and rails to make lagos a true working city. As well as working closely with the federal government to revamp the police and also have state and communal policing come into fruition.

projects started by the state will be completed however they will be reviewed, padded budgets and white elephant projects are a rampant issue in lagos and will need to be curtailed

This is correct and I am happy you referenced the world bank benchmark.

The contracts are over inflated

Oga @GRVlagos,
Thanks for sharing your plan for agberos in Lagos State. It seems that Lagosian-Nairalanders are sick and tired of agberos and looking to vote for a governor who will deal with them decisively.

Seun,

That your comment does not justify the neutrality you have been preaching. It seems to me that you came up with this Trend to sell your half-baked Candidate to us.

We good People of Lagos are wiser than that, and we will not let it happen.

Continuity is our choice.

I know you are just trying to shy away from reality
You can't claim not to know about the daily extortion going on in the streets of Lagos
Where jobless people wake up, buy a marker, look for available junction and starts collecting money from bikes and keke
I bought a land 2016 close to where i live and struggled to build on it to roofing and one day someone wake's up and decides to sell part of my land because he is son of the region where i settled in my own country.is that the acceptance and tolerance you mean?
Aside from from industrial advantages that Lagos has due to it once been capital of Nigeria i don't think i would be here
Some of us are just enduring your nonsense and believing Nigeria will outgrow your recklessness someday

If you have a problem with lagos and the way things are done why don't you go back to where you came from or go to Cameron or to go. Did anyone force you, your mother or father to come to lagos. Is it by force to live in yorubaland.

Dear GRV, What did you intend to do differently from what APC led State Government has done since 1999. Lagos generated the highest IGR but the cost of living and difficulty in doing business had been very high even before APC controlled Federal Government came on board. How do you intend to reduce incessant and unnecessary high taxation?

Again like an answer I gave earlier , a big part of my administration will be about transparency, lagos and nigeria has been held back by inefficiency and corruption, projects in Lagos cost 4x the benchmark, this is unsustainable we cannot get where we need to if we continue at this rate.
to make business easier I will improve transportation networks by increasing the quality of the roads and drainage , developing of rail, tram and water transport networks to reduce the pressure on the roads
taxation code and systems will be streamlined, with tax credits being provided for businesses and individuals to provide social goods
I will also implement state power generation so the electrical cost of doing business comes down.

the model of governance that I model after and seek to even exceed is that of the late great Lateef Jakande, a true man of the people and an excellent administrator and steward of the state
