Just look at the bleached lawyer. He has bleached all his brains away. The royal family is a ceremonial role and no longer have powers to make decisions. In fact if they fumble anyhow the state can stop paying them money to live. They depend on the government for their sustenance and food money and as we know ? The borrower is always subject to the lender. If rishi decide to cut all state money going to the royal family they will stop to exist. Point being prince Charles has no such powers. Ekweremadu will eat his moldy toast in the pen for many years to come. Ekweremadu go dey gym inside the pen when he comes out he would be a 70 year old weight lifter

No mind them!

Even if he have such powers, this is one thing he will never touch with even with a long pole.

The British Royal Family that are currently riddled with scandals and controversies will not want to score an own goal in this situation, because it would just perpetuate the narrative that the rich and the might are above the law.

Qwack lawyers everywhere, I noticed recently that the law profession has gone to dogs recently. Gone are the days we use to have intelligent lawyers like Gani, Awolowo, etc. The recent election saga is an eye-opener for some so-called lawyers who affirmed that 25% in ABJ is a must even though the Constitution made it clear. Now look at the thrash this one is spewing, the UK is not Nigeria if King Charles tries nonsense he will face the wrath of the law. If the former prime minister can be sacked for misconduct in the office with some of his female staff, who is Ekweremadu before the UK judiciary? undecided. UK judiciary is an example of an Independent judiciary, little wonder the west is thriving

Your first paragraph is petty.
Your last paragraph is self contradictory and illogical.
Overall it is clear that you do not know what you are talking about.
The summary is that today The monarch has no power to grant pardon. None whatsoever. The power resides in Ministers and the role of the Monarch is CEREMONIAL:to announce a pardon following ADVICE from a minister. This ADVICE is a euphemism. He has no choice but to make an announcement once ADVISED. If you have ever lived in the UK you would understand

No one is disagreeing with you. It is just like how the Queen / King was/ is the Head of State. If the Prime Minister wants to call an election he have to visit the Queen. However the Queen in practice did not get involved in politics. Another example is the start of a new parliament where the Queen as the the head of state have to read out the government's programme.

And by the way my response was AI generated from ChatGPT and I do agree with the response and I think you do to but you are bias.

Please can the British monarch intervene in a legal case by pardoning someone sentence to years in prison for committing a crime?

In the United Kingdom, the power to grant pardons is a prerogative of the monarch. However, the granting of pardons is typically done on the advice of the government, and it is rare for the monarch to exercise this power without the government's recommendation.

In general, the British monarch does not intervene in the legal system and would not typically pardon someone who has been convicted of a crime unless there are compelling reasons to do so, such as new evidence coming to light that would exonerate the person. In such cases, the monarch would typically act on the advice of the government or the judiciary.

It's also worth noting that the power to grant pardons is limited in the UK. The monarch can only grant a free pardon, which completely exonerates the person, or a conditional pardon, which may commute a sentence or release someone early. The monarch cannot grant a pardon that overturns a conviction or sentence, as this would be a violation of the separation of powers between the judiciary and the monarchy.

Uk is a Kingdom and in kingdoms, monarchy system is in place ie KSA, Netherlands, Brunei, UAE. The King or the Queen comes first. Their words are final. Unlike Nigeria that is federal system where monarchy influence is under political officers. A king/Queen in the UK can hire/fire even the PM. And their power transcends the UK. They can request for pardon even in the US and get it.

Same way Ayotallah Khoemeni is powerful than the president of Iran is same way the King is powerful than the prime minister. The King (if he has such powers) should allow our society take root and be established by not involving himself in this. He should know through his emissaries that law and order is one of the principal problems in Nigeria without which we simply cannot develop. He should help us make the necessary sacrifices of whomsoever to ensure this nation survives.

Today a person known for corruption, under investigation by institutions of law and order is being touted by a democratically elected President as the future leader of the Legislature and number three citizen of the country. A person expected to chair the making of laws and superintending over order in the nation. What better irony is there.

And what is to say that if the man in question is pardoned, released and returns he will not assume such positions of power and influence in the short, medium or long term back here in Nigeria. And what message will that send to the hapless citizens of Nigeria and the onlooking rest of the world.

Nigerians should not have any doubt as to the situation of the man in question. We cannot afford to have society divided on the basis of what is right and what is wrong. This dichotomy in values, in morals, sacrificed on all sorts of altars of sentiment is the reason whey we have remained third world over sixty years post independence. We have to establish a pan Nigeria value system in this country where every citizen subscribes to. Every Nigerian should be able to agree that this person or that action is right or wrong. Only then can we begin to build.

The United Kingdom left our shores as sovereign 63 years ago. In that time they have made giant steps towards a prosperous and stable nation. King Charles should check back to what has become of the nation his mum left in 1960 and make it like the home she left in his hands last year.

PS: If anyone doubts that we do not have a value system in Nigeria consider this.

Since this man's arrest and trial has anyone in authority woken up to the issues in question?
Have the administrators of Nigeria made any moves to bolster the dysfunctional healthcare system, established any new renal/urology facilities even if it for the elite in society, has it invested more in healthcare professionals?.... no. Rather more have left our shores since.

What has the institution for which he was a member for decades and rose to become deputy done to pass any sort of legislation for the reasons he is in this mess or against the actions the man took in protecting the vulnerable in society...... none.

For them it is business as usual, their medical tourism rights remain intact and the citizens the main victims are left arguing amongst themselves as to what is right or wrong.....

Britons swear allegiance to the monarch during coronation. Ekweremadu was convicted in the name of the king. Even the prime minister is head of house of commons. House of lords still exist. I think the king is far more powerful than you'd imagined.
