Good morning professionals... Is there a way of increasing my solar panels as I currently used 2 200W panels for 12v system with Mercury tall tubular battery of 220AH... Note.... My cc is an old epever tracer 3210a of 30 amps... I've included the copy of the stated manual. Thanks.

Does ur 2 panels produce up to 390w at peak. If yes, it best u change d charge controller if u wantu to add more panels. dbshaywhy: 2 Likes |

Justice629: My inverter has only beeped low battery less than 10 times since installation, and it was because I was dependent on AEDC charging and there was an extended no-utility power situation a couple of times. Since I installed solar it has not even happened. I have never gotten below 24.81%. I realize that by adding additional loads (whole house lighting as opposed to just the seating room and electronics) as I transition from AEDC to near complete autonomy (AC and iron are not yet included in the current autonomy plan) my batteries could be discharged to between 24.36% and 24.50% overnight so I want to ensure that before noon the next day my batteries should float. I am also doing this to take care of days with low sun harvest due to the rainy season. I also want to take care of my refrigeration loads during the day without depleting my batteries which I am currently unable to do. When I decided to set up a miserly 1.5kva inverter system, I could very well have afforded my then intended 8kw system, but I felt that other investments were more important. For example, I bought a car that was so cosmetically spotless that I cannot remember how many times other drivers at petrol stations complemented it and even offered to buy it from me. Today I wanted to get a 3kva inverter system and I could very well afford the brand of my choice, but it does not support lithium batteries and does not support 48v. Since I want to upgrade to 48v and want to do lithium, I decided the alternative upgrade route, more solar panels, more charger controllers, increased generation capacity but no increase in storage capacity. The way things are going I can very well do the 48v and lithium battery by the end of the month, because I am just one step away from the expected funds for the major upgrade, but I am not willing to go back to the days when I was spending nearly 50,000.00 Naira on electricity units and the only way to prevent that with the threatened increase in electricity tariffs is what I have done. The next upgrade will be brutal. I will max out solar panels, I will deploy redundant solar charge controllers, I will not just increase generation capacity, but I will also increase storage capacity, and even protective devices. It is the major upgrade that will guarantee complete autonomy to include heavy power hugs like ACs, cookers, electric ovens, washing machines, and what have you. Then I would have upgraded my system to my preferred size at my leisure/pleasure but by doing this now I would have plugged a potential financial drain hole in the meantime. Life is not just about what we want, it is also about planning the finances around all responsibilities and obligations, and for maximum return on investment so one don't have to look like a fool as an adult. In any case by delaying the plan to go big, I have gathered a ton of wisdom thanks to this thread that ensures that my money will not just be spent, but it will be spent very well, and that I will not live to regret the capital outlay. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Enyinne: @Valto, one of the silent reader is spotted here, na people like him I dey speak for @Fegeitok, I like the way you are able to balance things by taking care of the primary things you can't do without before going autonomous as desired. That's one reason that has held me back from going Green all this while, but gradually saving up for it and at same time taking care of other things. In naija, it's very easy (I won't say otherwise), to get things done as at when desired when many depends on you for survival, if you don't balance them all you will look like a slowpoke if you rush to go Green. The goal is to do your research very well and possibly ask some stupid questions to get better understanding of the subject matter while gradually saving to setup your desired system. |

Planning on getting 2 300w solar panels for this 1kva hybrid inverter. The max input voltage is confusing, does it mean both panels have to be 12v each or i should get a standalone solar cc if its higher?

FEGEITOK: How did you get to find out the inverter didn't support LiFePO4 battery.? Which make if of inverter was it, if I may ask? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Penuelseun(m): 3:47pm On Jul 06, 2023 |
Drgreatone:it means the maximum voltage your inverter cc can accept is 25v, so you are stuck with 180w or 200w solar panels whose VOC is not more than 22v. Better to buy 4pcs 150w or 180w and connect all in parallel or get an external CC |

TechGeek777: There are 2 parts to the renewable journey: 1. renewable energy generation (and storage) 2. the use of energy efficient devices 1 is as important as 2. Infact 2 may even be more important than 1. In an effort to make the best use of 1, I have also had to invest in 2. That has meant for example buying energy efficient appliances. Like for me personally it meant getting a fridge with an energy class rating A++. What does energy class rating A++ mean? The energy class rating A++ is a classification used to indicate the energy efficiency of appliances, particularly in the European Union. The energy class rating system provides consumers with information about how energy-efficient a particular appliance is. In the case of A++, it represents a very high level of energy efficiency. The rating scale typically ranges from A+++ (highest efficiency) to D (lowest efficiency). The higher the rating, the more energy-efficient the appliance is, meaning it consumes less energy to perform its intended function. Appliances with an A++ energy class rating are designed to minimize energy consumption and reduce environmental impact. They are more efficient in converting energy into useful output, resulting in lower electricity bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. It's important to note that energy class ratings can vary depending on the type of appliance. Therefore, it's always advisable to refer to the specific energy label or documentation provided by the manufacturer to understand the exact energy efficiency of a particular appliance. In my case, imagine running a fridge that is as tall as a 6ft individual but uses less energy that fridges much smaller. That is an example of where I have had to allocate the funds instead of just buying solar panels, batteries and charge controllers to power inefficient devices. Next major investment will be to get similarly rated ACs. Looking at December 2023 for that one all things being equal.

EduTechTainMent: I studied the product literature meticulously. I want to try the Homaya Pro series of inverters that I posted about a while back. Please check my previous posts. They have a 3kW variety, they have a 4kW and a 6kW model. They can be stacked together up to 24kW. I want to go for either 4kW and 6kW paralleled or 6kW and 6kW paralleled for a start. 1 Like |

FEGEITOK: Thanks for sharing. I had same reservations about a particular inverter. Reached out to the manufacturers and they claimed it supports. I had my reservations about their claim though. |
