I opened this pseudonym account some years back after I backslided.

I had been very vocal of my salvation and journey as a Christian via my original account-pressplay411.
So it came as a shock that I could backslide, worse still I could not explain the reason for my backsliding. I did not fornicate or commit any of the obvious sins, I just felt a spiritual drought- I stopped experiencing the presence of the Holyspirit in my life.

I struggled with this for months, but instead of getting better, it was getting g worse. When I noticed I had started rubbing off my doubts on those close to me, I decided it was best I left the church for a while. Luckily the nature of my job allowed me to travel so my pastors and church friends mostly assumed I was on official capacity as usual.

I isolated myself and eventually went back to my vomit- drinking, masturbating, fornicating, etc. I even started smoking loud, but smoking was never my thing.

It only got worse with time. This would continue for about 3 years. I enjoyed the first half of backsliding. But the next half was hell on earth. Everything came crashing, including relationships, job, business, family etc. I hit rock bottom when my health could no longer sustain my lifestyle. I started to develop liver issues cos I had lost control over drinking.
I felt hopeless.

I would attempt to go back to church occassionally but it just didn't feel the same. The darkness had a claim to my soul that the light could not extinguish. Or so it seemed.

My mom, my angel was depressed. It hurt to put her through all this. Yet I had no way out.
The thought of her son drifting off before her eyes was unbearable. I knew I had to try for her. She cried, I cried.
She would eventually invite me through her friend to MFM and I agreed. Let me give it one more try.
I went through a 3 day prayer and fast at the prayer city. Got back home feeling something had happened but scared I needed to find a good MFM church to help me continue in the faith before I sank back into my habits. But God had other plans.

I actually didn't get to settle in one on time and unfortunately fell yet again.
Just as I was about losing hope, I ran into a neighbour who invited me on the road to join him for bible study he was going and I obliged.

I would eventually end up in the small church close to my house. I found peace and hope there and the rest they say is history.

I rededicated my life to Christ early January this year and God has been faithful.
Please thank God for me. I moved to tears that I can find salvation once again.
The story of the prodigal son hits different when i read or hear it now.

I don't know if anyone reading this has lost hope in life, people, God, etc. Please know that hope is all we have. Just have hope.
My hope is in Christ. And he saved me once again.

Good evening Nairalanders, am sure you are familiar with the account michellekabod1. It has been a while since I last posted.

All these while, I have been a bit lethargic on this forum due to the fact that I have indulged in sober reflection, and learning, and most of all trying to make it up with my Creator, God almighty, the author and finisher of our faith, the great "I AM".

It obviously would shock many to the bone marrow that I, a former atheist, out of the blue decided to denounce atheism for Christianity.

Not here to coarse or coax anybody, am not an apologist. Just wanna give my testimony.

I do apologise for the delay on my conversion story, being damn busy.

Approximately three months ago, I surfed nairaland and then stumbled upon a thread(https://www.nairaland.com/4923763/please-tell-ushow-got-thought/2#74245802), and then was displeased by the Op who was (perhaps is) an apologist.

Prior to this I stumbled upon a moniker called jesusjnr. Never really read his topics but I somehow knew he was different from other Christians.

My six sense accepted him and then I spewed out "... jesusjnr is the only Christian that earns my respect".

That was the beginning of a sweet bitter journey

I don't believe in endings, I believe this is just the beginning of the beginning.
Every day is a beginning of something new.

That day I quoted him, I got a response from him. And then we had an argument about whether it was my intuition or the holy spirit that endorsed him

Meanwhile he warned me about a charlatan(Christian) that engaged me in conversation. It fell on deaf ears.

The scales dropped off my eyes when the said Christian Nlander blatantly said abortion was never a sin, there was nothing wrong in homosexuality, and also endorsed fornication indirectly.

I always knew that a prophet is never respected in his hometown. It always has to be someone outside the Christian fold that acknowledges a genuine Christian.

Budaatum acknowledging of him and also mine made me believe there is something special about him(indeed there is).

The normal me would write him off as his personality is completely opposite of mine. Had to eat the humble pie and tolerate what I term his excesses to gain what I wanted-that light he has got that few possess

Went through his thread thoroughly and realized he was ready to follow Christ and not the modus operandi, I mean to say Christ was his guide and guard not the doctrines of the church.

Conformity is a thing of the world and Jesus said if you love the world, you don't love him.(Luke 14:26-33)

He explained to me about the holy spirit speaking to me via intuition. I doubted, severally, hitherto. The day I trusted my intuition I started making perfect choices that yielded positive results

I got attracted to this holy spirit he was talking about, imagine heeding to His prompting... imagine the wrong choices I will avert and the right choices I will make.

But he stated that I have to walk with God in other to grasp the full benefit of the holy spirit

That was when I had to make the decision.[b]

What is next is conversion/sanctification.
This is accomplished as you keep seeking Him through His Word and gathering of saints.

Have not gone through water Baptism. When i first gave my life to christ, someone layed hands on me to recieve the holyghost. I only fell down on the floor, no speaking in tongues or other manifestation.

When i went into atheism, i used to settle for the term 'agnostic', i just needed fews years for this demons to convert me to a militant atheist.

You're been decieved. A demon is telling your mind to be comfortable and settle inbetween GOD and atheism. But there is no inbetween. Its either you're for GOD or the devil. Its either
gathering with Jesus or scattering.

* I would advice you to start seeking for deliverance, ask for prayers against that demon hardening your heart, before its too late.

You are right about Christians living a lifestyle of sin. Those aren't real Christians. Real Christians aren't always be perfect, but if they sin, it's not a norm but an aberration, because their lifestyle is one of righteousness and obedience of God's Word. As for avoiding sin despite being an atheist, if true, then you're on the right path. Only thing left is to add Christ to that and it'd be a match made in heaven. Jesus loves you.

As for 1 and 2, God sees the heart, and trust me, if you're truly willing in your heart, God will prove Himself to you in a way that you'd believe He exists. That's a small thing for Him to do. What's a big deal is the for the heart of men to be sincere and willing. Remember He once revealed Himself in a convincing and powerful way to a nation called Israel, however they didn't still believe in Him despite knowing for a fact that He exists.
