You expected to pay your tuition fees by working as a student in Canada shocked shocked shocked

The narrative about japa after COVID largely contributed. My female friend wey study at University of Ottawa had her uncles, who work at either Shell or ExxonMobil, sponsored her grad studies. I recalled when she encouraged me to apply as the universities are affordable, but what about living expenses? What about the chances of getting a student visa (which was 8 out of 10 being denied)? What about scholarships? shocked

To do hard and thorough research good o.

Hmmm. It's crazy now given that the cost of living has increased, so even if you see the work, saving money now is a big challenge now.

My advice to bro KellyTech007 is to look for work like a mad man. Any available job wey you see, run am. Reach out to Nigerians (or anybody that can help) on ways to secure job as quickly as possible because the money you are without job, the more you go into debt. Bills here is crazy and have to be paid.

On school fees, reach out to your school finance department and explain to them how depreciation of local currency is affecting your ability to pay your tuition balance and see if you can get an extension.

In all, see it as phase and push hard to survive out there. All the best bro

Anyone who wants to leave Nigeria should convert every savings to dollars and store them under his/her pillow. That is what I told my parents to do as we planned towards my relocation. We changed about 20K dollars then at 360 naira and continue converting every savings into dollars. Never save in naira. That is the mistake. All the payments I made were made in dollars. Nothing concerned me with the naira.

No matter how bad Nigeria is, I can't advise anyone to leave Nigeria without your full tuition fees paid and a year of living expenses. If your program is two years and tuition is two years, pay the whole two years. The kind of jobs you will get as a student can't enable you to pay the tuition fees if you like work like a donkey.

I agree with you. The point is he has already left Nigeria (spending huge amount of money already) and currently facing a serious challenge.

Because of what previous students have done with respect to tuition fees, school are very serious with payment now.

Just trying to see how he can navigate this quagmire

If you look at the Canadian student visa requirements, then you'd have to agree it is tailored to the elites.

I don't think 3 to 6 months is enough again. I have seen a lot of gofundmes especially from people in the UK on Twitter and people are complaining on nairaland of no job after 6 months.

The world in general is tailored towards elitism (people with capital).

If Nigeria GDP per Capita reaches 10,000$ per Capita, nobody will deny you visa again

Germany has blocked account. You can't do proof of funds parole and the money in the blocked account is enough to cater for your needs for at least a year
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Jandminded: 9:03pm On Feb 10
I did computer science, seeking admission in Germany but don't about the schools there.

I already know they require students to pay money into an account, of which the Student wouldn't have access to withdraw it, untill they start schooling in Germany.

I'm also contemplating UK or any other country, any useful information please?

Hello,

Life is fine. Cost of living has risen but that's a global problem. Weather on average isn't amazing but Summer and spring is glorious. Bureaucracy would drive you crazy sometimes but we can endure. Hardwork does pay especially if you understand the law of the land. And learning German improves your quality of life ten-folds. Salary here is low compared to the US & the taxes are higher here too. Though cost of living is lower in Germany and the health insurance system is awesome.

Getting jobs as an international student isn't hard. Depends on the type of job. inside a warehouse like Amazon etc. can be done within a short time but office jobs may be harder to get without German language skills. Unless you're in IT, there english can help you land nice office jobs. Internships are available as well. Sometimes, the faculty may pair with institutes and one can take advantage of those.

Germans are not the friendliest people; know this and know peace smiley . Their culture can be cold and direct. They're hard to crack into as friends but once you're in, they're amazing and will defend you to the core. In big cities like Hamburg, Koln, Berlin etc. you will find nearly all nationalities. SO you can make friends with anyone and find your tribe.

Housing can be tough depending on the city. In the bigger cities there is lots of competition for housing so folks may live an hour or more away from the center. some could get lucky and find something within the city in a nice area. depends on luck, networking etc. Also if you have a high budget, getting a house is quicker.

Wish you good luck!
I admire the way you responded to the guy.

Please I'm done with computer science in Nigeria.
I intend to study in Germany or UK, Germany as first choice. On or before September this year.

But I've just been wandering online, but decided to use nairaland to get information.

Please do you know where i can start? Any info or hint.

I'm into IT.

You don't need an agent for Germany. What's you challenge?

Good morning, please my father has told me to seek admission in Germany or Uk, so that by September i may be able to start.

But I'm starting with Germany.

I have been wandering the internet since yesterday, but haven't gotten a clear idea on where to start from.

I did computer science, I'm into IT, so would most likely thread that part as my study program.

Please do you know a school or something usefull i can start with?

If you have a first class in the last two years, then you'll get a date for interview in four weeks. If not, you'll have to wait 19+ months to get a date for interview for Germany. Almost all public schools are free in Germany but for one state which charges €1500 per semester. You'll need a block account of €11,208 euros to be "blocked" in a German account, then you'll be issued €934 monthly from it when you arrive in Germany. Use www.daad.de for search for schools.

For UK, you can check the UK thread. But I'll advice you to have 70% of your tuition paid, and living expenses for at least 6 months because getting jobs for pay tuition in UK is now fairytale, unless you're going with a dependant on a research based MSC. Even at that, get your tuition.

I didn't graduate with a first class though, 2.2 grade.

So the interview would now require 30 months if at all? grin

Don't allow village people make you to ruin your chances. The motivation letter of your school and that of the embassy are not the same. Contents of the school motivational letter should be summarised in that of the embassy.

You're to convince visa officials about reasons and motivations for studying in Germany, obtaining admission into a specific area and course of study, and stating why you should be provided with an opportunity to study in the Germany.

Please head on to rewrite it

Hello Hannania, thank you for all of the messages and information here.
So I got an appointment date for 20th
Booked: June 06 2022
Got a date: Jan 26 2024
AD: Feb 20
But my SL letter isn’t ready, as my sponsor didn’t get any close date. He got date for March 11.
I should still attend my interview right?
And to which email should I send this to the immigration at least to inform them before hand?
