Just imagine the countries we are comparing ourselves to just to justify the tariff increase. Guinea Bissau that is one of the poorest countries in the world and has one of the lowest electricity connection in Africa not to even mention the world. Cost of electricity in Egypt is 0.18kWH. Even Sudan that is at war enjoys cheaper electricity so what are the stats supposed to prove?

Because when you pay less than you should for power, you will get less power. It's kind of like a rule.

Who else should we compare ourselves to. We are an African country, so we compare to our african brothers.

Egypt is even a bit more expensive than Nigeria self. They also don't tolerate power theft there.

The stup!d team "what's their minimum wage" will soon be here.

Everything is been paid for already in this Nigeria for Nigerians that's why they're Lazy like the former President rightly said. If they press their neck with all this increase in price of things we consume for free without knowing the value, people will start to think out of the box. Every subsidy should be removed even the one on education.

At a time like this...when you just pray to find bread, no one bothers if it is daily or not. This one come add join. To drink cold water now to soak your garri without sugar has automatically become an issue...cos you begin to ask yourself, fridge or fan overnight? Which is more important? While looking at the 5 precious units remaining...knowing fully well that 1k will give you 4.7units.

At this rate...God help us.

Just as labour is so cheap with the 30k minimum wage that is now equivalent to $30.

What is the minimum wage in the other countries listed

Nonsense
I feel bad when people write rubbish articles like this.

I did minimum wage jobs when I first got into employment in the UK and without overtime I supported my parents, my family in Nigeria and paid my bills.

I challenge president Tinubu to a media chat to explain how a Nigerian worker would spend his salary with the current market prices.

A good leader thinks of how to ease his fellow citizens burden. After all, the country resources belongs to all of us.

I dare anyone to challenge me on this.

Is Nigeria the same as America? Have we achieved 100% metering? Have we economics of scale like America? Have we reached maturity in infrastructure?

Just so you know infrastructures for generating electricity is not cheap.

Nigeria is oil producing with a functional Kianji dam that is fully amortized
Also devaluation of currency made it lower if not it will be higher by 4 factors in dollars. It’s your fault naira was devalued not Nigeria’s fault
On that list the only oil producer is the very corrupt Equitorial Guinea, where father and son are president and vice and where the son has been indicted of corruption
Tinubu may end up in jail eventually. Someone will come that will probe your source of wealth and you’ll pay in full what you’re stealing and have stolen

Yeah right... And, the power supply is as stable and as efficient as it is in other nations?!!!

It's so cheap and stable that a whole Giant of Africa is nicknamed "Generator Republic" of the universe.
