Just because Rivers state has the most gov't invesment doesn't mean anything, I still put lagos as first, because Lagos has the most urban areas, the largest skyscrapers and actually it has the most non-federal Gov't investment, just incase you want to add investment as part of the criteria..Lagos will be really close to being equal in terms of development with the whole of Nigeria if it was its own country.

I live in Lagos, but Lagos is over-hyped.only selected areas are developed in infrastructure wise,ie Island. There are some places not fit for human habitat,ie Orile, makoko etc.

Please, remove Lagos as number one from the list.

What are your yardsticks please? Is it in terms of urbanization, security, , education, infrastructure/Amenities(access to portable drinking water, electricity, health care, road accessibility, etc), "night life", neatness etc
Cos some states obviously don't belong to what u posted.

Whoever compiled this list is a village champion!how can you say Akwa-Ibom is more developed than Edo? To even see Delta state on that list means the op really does not understand what development really is!

For all I care, the only state nearing anything called development in Nigeria is Lagos. Abuja comes closest but still years always from being a developed state. All others are glorified towns still developing.

Delta shouldn't make the list. Truth be told, there are only 2 major cities in Delta and these are Asaba the state capital and Warri. Other glorified towns cum cities are only but a mere shadow of what a city should be. Delta is mostly beclouded by thick bushes and forest virtually everywhere. Nothing is happening in Delta and I can't help but wonder why Delta made your list of the most developed state in Nigeria. Delta remains a dungeon where wild animals thrives

urbanisation does not mean development.i will rather live in a small town right in middle of forests that have quality schools, pipe borne clean water, constant electricity and good security, effecicient means of transporting goods and services in and out of the town rather than living in a big urban jungle.

asha 80: urbanisation is not development.
Urbanisation is not development, can a state be urbanised and yet not developed? What are the indices of an urbanised state compared to a developed one? The reason people will move from A to B is because B is seen as a better place to live, I.e. more developed than B. Hence Urbanisation and development goes hand in hand.

You cannot be using the word urbanisation and small town in the same sentence. Go figure out what urbanisation really is before you come here and spew rubbish ..

GeneralJ, rivers state is number 1. the oil installation are worth more than the lagos building. opic house in abeokuta was built for N1 billion..

Just one of the oil installation , some cost as much as $1 billions.. which is 160 of Opic houses..

count how many of such oil facilities in rivers.. it gives you 1600 opic skyscrappers in lagos, that look like this.. this is why river state is the state that carries the largest investment in nigeria.

What of Aba that contributes for 35% of Nigeria's internally generated revenue as at the year 2006 according to NTA Periscope and World Bank's research? So T.A Orji has killed everything within 6years of being governor?

I believe other posts in response to yours says it all. Also those preferences of yours in a 'small town' are only but a mirage and I don't see Delta attaining such by 2050. Yes, Nigeria as a whole is beclouded with leadership problem but Delta's case is something different with hooligans and cabals occupying even not too juicy positions as school principals. I look at this categorically and I can't help but feel pity for Deltans cause they all live in the rellics of the past age which Thomas Hobbes described as solitary, nasty, brutal and short life span. Forget all this media hypes about Delta on TV. Delta with all her oil could still be likened to Zamfara and Sokoto which today ranks amongst the poorest states in Nigeria. I repeat, there is nothing on ground in Delta caused I have been opportuned to tour round the nook and crannies of the state.

then you probably have not been to the countryside of developed nations.i wonder how urbanised they are but they are still developed.migrating to some places that are urbanised does not necessarily mean those places are developmed.it can mean there more cash exchanging hands in that location.development goes beyod people erecting houses indiscrimately everywhere in an area or packing themselves like sardines in an area.
