= -5/x + k

known that integration is the anti. of differentiation

sec x = 1/cosx using quotient rule


(vu' - uv ' )/v2

put 1= u u'= 0
& cosx =v v'=-sinx

say f(x) = secx

we thus have

f '( x) = [0 -(-sinx) ]/ cos2x

=> 1/cosx * sinx/cosx

hence we have secx.tanx ..................( as expected )

=xtan-1{(1-x)/(1+x)}+§x/(1+x2)dx.
For §x/(1+x2)dx, we say, let u=x2, dx=du/2x. Substituing, we have;
(1/2)§1/(u+1)du.
1/2ln(u+1)+c, recall, u=x2.
=1/2ln(x2+1)+c.
... => xtan-1{(1-x)/(1+x)} + 1/2ln(x2+1) + c.

questions that looks innocent ain't really so in reality , while others that looks complex gat the simplest solution & answer , just need high mathematical strengths & cleverness to decipher . .

Here goes...

OP = x cm and chord PQ = x cm. Let OM be the line which bisects angle POQ and perpendicularly bisect chord PQ, meeting PQ at M.

It follows that PM = 1/2 * x (or 0.5x), since PQ = x and PM is half PQ.

So, the sine of angle POM = 0.5x/x = 0.5
Hence, angle POM = 30 degrees. So, angle formed by minor sector POQ = 2 * 30 degrees = 60 degrees.
Note that angle POQ = 2 * angle POM.

Hence, angle formed by major sector POQ = 360 - 60 = 300 degrees.

now put -3x= u

=> -3=du/dx

=> y=5u

dy/du =5u In5

dy/dx = du/dx * dy/du

=> (-3)(5u.In5 )

since u=-3x

we thus have

-3(5-3x.In5)
