I was wondering o!

It is not true o.

Tax is on every single allowance except pension contribution, life insurance premium and few other allowable benefits.

And now there is consolidated relief that is taken once before income is taxed.

It is only true if your company is bribing State revenue board and it only takes a Pharoah who knew not Joseph to come and issue back taxes penalties on the company.

35K as tax? Out of 171K? That's around 20%. Ma, don't you think that's outrageous? I stand to be corrected

Based on 171k monthly pay amounting to 2,052,000 p.a(total package). PAYE will be #13,625 provided no individual life insurance policy and contribution to national housing fund. To pay 35k as tax, then you must be earning as much as 300k per month. My accountant view.

Point of correction to those saying "13th month salary"- It is not actually a "salary" but a bonus.

Therefore, don't expect your December salary to be paid twice.
13th month salary means only your basic salary will be paid twice and not other allowances

The GTB figure is correct.

My entry level pay when I joined one downstream oil company more than 6 years ago was 163k net per month. It should be above 200k in that company today.

My friend that joined Shell around same time was earning circa 500k net per month.

Today, in the oil and gas industry, here is a rough idea about net monthly pay at entry level.

IOCS E&P (upstream) - 600k-1m

Independents E&P (upstream) - 300k - 600k

Multinational oil servicing - 300k - 500k

Tier 2/Indigenous Oil Servicing - 200k - 400k

Tier 1 Downstream - 200k - 300k

Tier 2 Downstream - 150k - 200k

Pastor's need to read the word and seek truth. Its good to support the church, but the tithing message needs to stop. Its a lie, Jesus made a new covenant, we are no longer under law. If the pastor's still having trouble's surviving he or she needs to get a job, like those who don't pastor..
bjims:

I guess their salaries depends on the position of the pastors. Most church pastors don't earn that well and mostly live off the gifts from church members. Most church branches remit all their offerings to headquarters who in turn give out so little. A pastor once complained about this and that this reason was why apart from normal offerings and tithes they take up other special offerings which is to augment their work. The lack of accountability and transparency in our church is alarming. Here in the UK it is different as the church is more accountable

I work in an E&P company. I saw the advert in Tuesday Guardian and threw in my CV! Didn't know anyone.

With good grade, you will get invite (test minimum) for these companies. I have undergone recruitment process of Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Total Upstream, Total Downstream, Seven Energy, All Energy, Oando, got offers from 3 of them, and worked in 2 of them. I didn't know anyone in any of them.

karmaleon:
Shell - approx. 650k monthly
ExxonMobil and Total - approx 16m-17m per annum
Schlumberger - approx. 800k monthly

The gist is, exploration and production companies pays at least 500k monthly with other benefits while servicing companies starts from 200k.

But you MUST have your masters before you can get in!
plz what are the certifications an english graduate can do to guarantee him a job in oil an company or oil servicing firm?

I'm in no position to say...
The ones i know of are freaking expensive...
Have you heard of NEXT by schlumberger...
They offer diverse professional courses for a period of 7-14days...
locations are overseas most times...
course fee goes for $3000 to say the least...
But you get value for your money...
Also a good chance of being retained or called up by a big coy in the industry..

Lol

The way people are posting these figures, one would assume the posters and all Nigerian graduates make these figures monthly.

Biko, you don't have to work for GTB to make N200k. A tailor (a nairalander) made approximately N680k in 3 weeks here in Lagos. He didn't even do any advert. Someone only saw a wear he made for a client and the man loved it. The following week, someone called from London and asked him to make about 30 units of aso ebi.

All the same sha, the salary figures here look cool.

How many times has your NL friend repeated that 680k in 3 wks contract this year?

[quote author=masonkz post=26965685]Diamond bank actually pays N240,000 while KPMG pays around N120,000 for non-chartered entry trainees. Chartered ones definitely don't earn up to N145k.

PwC pays the highest in the Big 4s with a startup of N140K for nonchartered and you're promoted after 6months with a 20k increase.

EY and Deloitte should be paying same as KPMG. Not sure.
Pls ow much for accessbank. Both hnd and. Bsc

Seriously, anything less than N500, 000 monthly in Lagos is not enough even for an adult living alone.
The average college graduate living in Lagos city spends over N5, 000 daily on feeding and basic transport to and fro work.
Then add the house rent, electricity bills, water supply bills, sanitation bills, etc.

Banks, oil gas companies and other big companies can pay N500, 000 monthly Entry-Level Salary.

I intend to pay as much as N1m monthly when our IMAX cinemas open in Nigeria.
