Cassie suddenly dashed towards the living quarters, just to hear Sidi 'welcome' the guest in. She then comported herself properly, before stepping out in a dignified manner.

True to her inward guess, Adedayo was seated on her sofa, keenly observing the living room while Sidi served him the fruit juice. For a lousy servant she was well behaved, even as she walked away stylishly , after informing him that her madam will be attending to him soon.

He was dressed in a round necked T-shirt and jeans trousers, with a Timberland canvass to match. He looked very much like the man she loved first.

As she opened her mouth to greet, he quickly asked her a question.

She was lucky not to be drinking anything, because she would have surely spilled out some juice in surprise. He was actually just calm, an eerie composure which was unsettling.

Like he was going to interrogate a thief.

"So, why did you call me? I saw your missed call, that's why I am here. Cassie, why did you call me?"

Now he sounded unbelievable. You would forgive yourself if you thought she was a stranger to him. She, however was animated enough to beat the sense into him.

"I called you because I wanted us to talk, to talk about us. Adedayo, I know that I still love you and I want us to repair our relationship."

"Cassie, we have no relationship. Its over between us, get that into your head!"

"Adedayo!"

"What? The relationship ended when you threw me away in the wedding, you conveniently rejected me and even had the nerve to threaten me. I gave up on you after that and now you ask me for a relationship? Its over between us."

"So is that why you carried that useless girl you call Angela all around our favorite mall? Is that why you refuse to call me at all? Adedayo, what was I worth to you? What am I worth to you?"

"Angela is not a useless girl! And that mall was not my favorite mall, in fact I never visited that mall again until I started dating Angela. So stop using 'us' in every conversation at this moment! "Cassie." He stood up, looking calm. "I loved you with all my heart and mind when we started this relationship. I held nothing from you, apart from my family issues. I thought your love for me was strong until you trashed it in front of me."

"Cassie, I can't even offer you sympathy right now, that's how much you are dead to me. I can only thank you for the good times we shared while it was still good. Bye." He walked out on the door.

Cassie looked at the floor,hands on the head, totally unaware of the question posed by her friend Ifeoma as she recovered from the shock of the previous declaration by Adedayo. Sidi brought some water to the table, understanding that no wise-pranks will suffice here.

"Madam, sorry." She knelt down and walked away.

"Sidi, come and take this water! Who sent you message?" Cassie screamed at her maid, sending her bloodshot eyes to deliver the message.

Sidi walked back and carried the water tearfully, leading to Ifeoma condemning her friend.

"What did she do wrong,now? Why are you taking your anger on the poor maid?"

"What's your concern? Is it your business?"

Ifeoma hissed and puffed. "Is that what you will say, Cassie? This is why I find it difficult to help you, you don't appreciate anything someone does for you in times of pain. Imagine attacking that girl as if she is not trying to help you out."

"Please don't preach the gospel of Sidi for me." Cassie said with a shake of hand.

"So, that's the next thing? Cassie, you can be a ingrate. Have you forgotten what she did for you all this while? She is the one that finally put out the i*diot who is the cause of this trouble and called me. She has done everything possible to comfort you, short of holding you herself and you treat her thus? Cassie, I am beginning to think that you deserve what you got."

Cassie looked at her, the absence of make-up helping her tears to move down without desecrating her lovely face.

"Ifeoma! Ifeoma!! Ifeoma!!! Please leave."

"Oh, you now chase me away? Cassie, is this about what I said now? Cassie, think twice. Think well. Stop this show and have a grip of yourself. I am going. I will see you later." As she made to leave, Cassie held her hand.

"Ifeoma, sorry now. She gave her the lost puppy look. I don't want you to leave. I don't know what will happen to me if....."

"Nothing will happen to you jare." She held Cassie, her face with concern written all over. "I would have loved to stay, but I have to go. I will check you tomorrow."

Ifeoma's actions was the tonic for another bout of weeping for Cassie.

As the night approached, she started to think 'out of the box'. Negatively, of course. She looked at what could have been and what is now. Her parents are dead, she had no sibling and her love-life just evaporated into the deep end of the ocean. She looked at the mirror and saw waves of water coming behind her, gaining speed and grinning at her. She had decided on what to do.

Tablets were littered on the kitchen table, with one and two and three and oh so many capsules on her hand. A glass, full of 'death' water was on hand to usher in her last dosage on earth. She still looked at the water running in the sink. Time was drifting.

As she lifted the drugs to the heavens and opened her mouth, wishing that it ended quickly, her hand was hit by a sweeping force much akin to a tremor, sending the drugs to the sink.

Death was cheated.

"Don't worry, Cassie smiled, I understand. I won't kill myself over him." She reminded herself as well.

"Its well, ma. Just find what you like doing and begin to do it. Me self na singing I dey enjoy to dey do."

Cassie released the hug. "Okay, am hungry. Please cook me rice."

"Yes ma."

As Sidi left, Cassie opened her wardrobe and removed a nylon full of drugs.

"No more suicide." She told herself as she flushed the drugs in the toilet

Comfort was waiting impatiently for her aunt, whose business deal was keeping her from Terry. Her mind was moving from pillar to post, looking for something interesting to do.

For all the hype about the hotel, it was a bore to her. Mainly because she arrived late at night and her aunt had warned her about moving around and meeting strange men at night. Her aunt, having said all this, left for her own meeting, which annoys her.

"So much for a hotel." She muttered to herself, looking at the nice interior of the hotel. At least it looked the part and since it was 8 am, it was too early to judge anything.

Her aunt suddenly showed up.

Comfort, I have both good news and bad news.

"Good news is that I have been promoted. Bad news is that I have another business meeting for today so we can't travel to Abuja today, Comfort almost cried when she heard this, Am sorry, but you can come out and see the hotel, even go out. Only that you should not go too far." She bolted out after that last piece of information.

"Like say I need permission from you." Comfort stubbornly shook her body in protest of her aunt's declaration. She however quickly decided to make the most of the day and swim in the pool. She remembered there was a pool even though it was late, the shiny nature of the water attracted her attention.
