Ilekokonit: Hilary, the USA and the world would be a much better place, with zero hunger, zero deprivation, zero conflict if your country did not squander trillions of dollars of the earth's resources annually on weapons of mass destruction which do nothing but kill people, make the world more dangerous and feed fat your corrupt military/industrial complex/elite. Many thanks! 3 Likes |

In other words, if we come together to vote in General Buhari, Nigeria will have the greatest chance in its history to join the envied league of the G20 nations through the decisive eradication of corruption in government and the private sector, which has seen us suffer from increased cost of business for decades and unappealing investment climate and has kept us running in circles in our quest for economic rebirth. 4 Likes |

Obiagelli: Good now just a few more tiny overlooked details and we get the full comparative picture. Post the year on year comparative figures for inflation ,exchange rate, approximate population(at the time) and structure of federating units(number of states or regions whichever applied at the time) for each of those years listed. You can't just come here and drop some lousy figures and declare that you point is made. If you really want to convince us,you have to show that COMPARATIVELY , raking cognizance of the following FACTS : I,Taking inflationary trends into account the value of a dollar(and the Naira by the way) in 1983 is worth far more than todays dollar/naira(proof ?:ask Google) II,Exchange Rate,do i really need to explain this III,Population:Obviously Nigeria was far less populated in 1983-20013 than it is now.Less population obviously means more resources such as they were at any given year to take care of each individual's needs. IV,Federating Structure:Nigeria has far more states and governance structures/units today than it did between 1983-1999.To be honest we have far more parastatals/ministries than we had in 1999/2000 which means resource going to each one is more tightly contested. This means each federating unit has less that what that unit might consider as optimum for it to function. I've had it with folks pulling figures out of that place( where the sun never shines unless they are at the beach) and claiming we all submit to their superior arguments. 1 Like |

EMANY01: Really? Its not surprising considering what you posted after him . I was going to ignore but since you called: EMANY01: Anyone with elementary knowledge of what GDP is in the first place, would know it is concerned with production and not consumption. EMANY01: Obiagelli already enlightened you guys that GDP and oil prices are both in USD so i wonder what you are on about. EMANY01: You and the person you were trying to defend were victims of ignorant arrogance, which usually ends in this way. 1 Like |

Rawani: The next fable you will spin is that Nigeria was more productive in 1983.I'd like you to provide evidence of that.PLEASE SHOW THAT NIGERIA WAS MORE PRODUCTIVE IN 1983 THAN TODAY OTHERWISE YOUR CLAIMS ABOUT GDP IS BUNKUM. http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constant_dollars Using the first site you would see that a million dollars ($ 1,000000) adjusted for inflationary pressure is worth about two point four million dollars ($ 2,389869.48) today a cumulative rate of inflation at one hundred and thirty nine percent (139%). |

edo3: My friend,to be honest,a GDP of $522 billion for a population of 140 million is grossly inadequate. If we do not proceed to double or even triple, our GDP in a couple of years , faster than our population grows, it will always be hard to impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians. |

Well, some notable figure in nigeria said corruption isnt the biggest problem nigeria has, so how possibly could it be that one thats stopping us becoming a G20 member?.....ther certainly must be something bigger than corruption for him to say that. Im thinking of....... STEALING? :/ |

Obiagelli: You need to account for inflation.... that is what atlwireless is referring to. $1 30 years ago is not the same as $1 today. So his point is that the value received back then was more in terms of purchasing power compared to the price of oil today. 1 Like |
