Maybe the money they gave them as elapsed. is a style of craving for new deal.

[quote author=Billyonaire post=27374890]I pay N13,800 for premium, and I pay it annually, but the annoying thing is, even though I pay for Premium, I still spend over N5,000 on Box Office to rent movies on the Explora Decoder. This is not the worst, the worst is that their customer service number is MTN, and you pay for calling customer service and listening to nonsense music while waiting for a customer service attendant that might not even pick the call, so you end up paying for listening to music and shit......exploitation at its best bro. let's hope the reps follow this through

Space bookers shaaaa....

Ah don't blame DSTV, rather i blame other TV satellite providers for not having the competitive strategy to deal with them.... Just take a look at Star Times naaaa....Poor Audio and Visual Quality.... Who wants that.... I don't know what they think. THEY NEED CUSTOMERS, buh won't improve their TV services.... Nigeria is a monopolised country already .... In every sector.... No competition.... The only sector they've got competition is Hotel And Brothels

Indeed.

Take HiTV....came on board and thought that by getting the rights to premiership, they had it made....forgetting that Nigerians do not buy DSTV for just sports. Of course....it failed.

It high time this bill saw the light of day. The other day my sister who lives in the UK asked this same question that when she planning a trip out of the Uk she said she can call her carrier and tell them to turn her service off, this sounded so realistic.

Good, now they are talking.because the cost of DSTV in Nigeria is alarming compared with other countries.the same thing should go to MTN too when they are through with DSTV.

No doubt DSTV monopoly is overdue for review. But what of Dangote monopoly.

If it is cement...there are other major cement companies.

Other countries are protecting their citizens but it is only in Naija South African, Chinese, Indian etc will bleed the consumers dry and our leaders will only be satisfied with hampers and fat envelopes to permit them to continue.
Even here, is government too not killing us with charges? NYSC, Navy, Custom, FRSC etc come to mind.
Our problem is selfishness, self centerdness and anything you can add 'self' to.

Not exactly true....America has a lot of foreign companies on its soil....and in the UK....the car industry is dominated by German , Japanese, Chinese and even Indian companies.

Nowadays, protectionism is a bad word.

I guess we could have Nigerian companies that are globally competitive(not just Dangote)...but the road to that involves technical education, technical education, technical education (Not University degree...so that one can pose with BSc in Psychology....and then go work as some bank clerk!).

I wonder why they have succeeded in maintaining the monopoly for years. We need competition in the satellite TV market. If not we can't keep blaming DSTV.

You took the words outta my mouth

DSTV is not a Monopoly. They are simply the best at what they do and quality comes at a price.

The House of Reps Members are clueless I swear..

DSTV does not have any monopoly, they are simply the best in the Market and thats why all their competitors cant keep up. #Period.

The moment the reps fhuck with Multichoice, they would either water down their programming to match whatever rates the government imposes of them or pack up and leave..

The competition that came in the form of HITV saw how difficult the satellite game was and folded up.

Cable TV is not cheap anywhere in the world. DSTV prices are almost similar across Africa.. WHy is it Nigerians that keep complaining as if DSTV is part of their fundamental human right as a Nigerian. Why has the House of Reps not audited NTA to find out why the biggest Government owned Television station in Africa is so useless.

Its anoda Nigeria vs SOuth africa issue. Payback time for seizing our money. DSTV generates income for dem.we must start developing our own star times and daarsat
Re: Reps Move To End Dstv Monopoly by Nobody: 7:55am On Oct 23, 2014
God bless whosoever is behind this Initiative, we should be on par with those south Africans who only pay as they watch. Gotv subscription has also escalated to 1500naira and if nothing is done to fight this, we might be paying 3000naira next year. can someone please tell me how Hitv & Daarsat are doing?

Best news this morning, I just hate the way dstv exploits Nigerians and pamper south africans, despite the fact that we patronise them a lot. A south African friend once told me how dstv is for a token of which every household can pay for.

Pay as you watch is a good idea jare, why should I pay for what I hardly use (say weekends only). Also their prices must be reduced. If they don't want to, let them pack their load to wherever they came from.

Why are you saying what you don't know, compact is 299 which is about 4500 so do not be deceived, go online to their South African page and check the price. It is same everywhere
