There is a difference between military technological know how and excessive military spending

Nigeria is vulnerable to Western backed internal or external invasion because we lack basic military technological know how as a result of not giving room to our intellectuals in our higher institutions to participate in weapons research and development just the way other powerful nations do

Imagine GEJ winning election next year and Buhari's supporters decide to take up arms against the government. What chance do the government has if US decides to launch a naval blockade in order to prevent the government from importing weapons through the sea the way Biafra was blockade from importing weapons through the sea.

the west do not need to invade Nigeria. economic sanctions is enough to cripple the whole country. The nations's resources is in their control since inception. all they have to do is support a leader to keep the status quo, cut aids and acess to international markets etc. and as for regional adversaries, there is none (maybe Cameroon but since they have a security alliance with France, it is counter productive to modernize) Small arms to defend the nation inst the problem, corruption within the military high command is. the BH issue was an eye opener and reforms are needed in that establishment

Exactly!

As a matter of fact the whole of Africa is already under occupation by USafricom
they are monitoring and dictating what is going on in almost all African nations. Its already too late for Nigeria to stop what has already been put in motion. The US also have drone bases dotted all over Africa.

Folks don't even understand that military advancement, industrialisation, technological advancement, economic development, and religion are all intertwined. And for a country to fully industrialise, the military has to play a huge role.

The rise of the British Empire kicked off with the industrial revolution, especially with the technological gap, which came with military advancement, due to the age of enlightenment in Europe. Ditto America. Russia got back on track in the last decade, with the growth of its military back to where it used to be - and that reflected on its economy. Same for China. And Brazil is also on the same track.

Russia and China are corrupt but what have protected their sovereignty is their ability to develop and produced indigenous military technology.

Kuwait is not as corrupt as Nigeria but was invaded by Iraq.? True or False.

Is it on this one, or the "shymexx" handle? Anyway, I'll check later. I'm about to hit the A & E for prescription cos I've got acid indigestion and the gaviscon I bought yesterday didn't provide any remedy.

Also, stop posting propaganda to me, else I'll throw you in the same tinfoil brigade with the other clowns. Like I told you the last time: I don't like linear thinkers with garbage-in, garbage-out mentality, who lack the ability to process information. And unintelligent folks who're stuck in spouting absolute tosh everywhere and lack the ability to discern the simplest things.

It's the enlightenment age and, I don't deal with black and white. I deal with the shades of grey. The full circle of the original black to the post-modern one. The mentality to civilise the savages. grin And objectivity is the motto cos none of these fvckers - white, pink, brown, and yellow - care about the plights of negro.

Do you know that some nations feed themselves from the sales of weapons eg Israel.

Do you know that lots of people are employed in an efficient and effective weapons research development and production.

Do you know that if we give room for our intellectuals to participate in weapons development, their skills will be sharpen to a point where major economic institutions within and outside will employ their services leading to a robust and highly technological economic just like China Japan etc.

Technologies deployed for military use most time have been found to play a lot of roles in economic development and growth of great nations eg Internet

A nation that has lots of natural resources and by commission and omission refuses to develop her indigenous military technology is only inviting a clandestine and covert take over by neo colonialists.

China Russia might disappoint Nigeria leaving Nigeria more vulnerable .

My advice

Stirrup our intellectuals in weapons development.

for the longterm plan yes, i agree with u. In the interim, we need to get out of where we have found ourselves alive..we have no structures to pull through on our own so for now, we just have to be d end users we have always been. Buy from them and stay alive to plan for tomoro.

While we are importing weapons it is advisable we encourage our intellectuals in weapons development because we never know if it is imported or indigeneous weapons that will save us. Eg Ogbunigwe though never gave Biafra victory but it gave Biafra respect by striking fear into the heart of Nigeria. True or False

Bro, these lazy and brainwashed African intellectual scums just love living in denial. Rather than take time out to study their own history, and get a clear view of the dynamics of the world, they prefer spouting useless propaganda everywhere about things they have no stake in. When the amount of time and energy they waste in assimilating this junk can be used judiciously to learn things that will better their fortunes. These folks just irk me.

You have got a country like South Africa that is still deeply segregated along racial lines, with the shackles of apartheid still evident everywhere. Why would blacks build something in the same country and give it an Afrikaan name? That is just common sense.

After Zuma, I won't be surprised if a white person were to be elected again as president, to be honest. And once these folks lose ANC - it is over for them. The little gains they have made would be wiped out gradually.

am a white south african and all i can tell you is what u wrote is total rubbish , yes south african government have a useless president but i should give credit to what black south african are doing in south africa. from my observation i think that nagerian are jealous of the rainbow nation they wish it could become a failed state like there country..I Love my Black contrymen

You need to understand that when it comes to military tech, China is really behind and they cant even compete yet. They cant even build what the soviet and the west built in the 70s. this is fact. I am high right now. will talk in a bit. stealth tech or not. i have criticize american foreign policy more than enough on this forum but when it comes to capability. the facts is there for every everyone to see. military spending doesn't dictate capabilities. the Chinese outspend the Russians but they dont have the capability to even face them. the saudis outspend the germans and the British but cant compete as well. the devil is in the details. You need to know what they are spending the money on

The guy is right thou. The military isn't really a fancy job in japan and they don't have a standing army per say. Japan is an island, therefore they would normally have a large fleet to protect their exclusive economic zone. Do not mistake the numbers for strength. Their offensive capabilities are very limited and most of their tech is American. They have good indigenous defensive capabilities however and since they have a defense pact with the US, they haven't developed their offensive capabilities and rely a lot on the US (7th Fleet in Yokosuka). even most of their fleet have American specs weapons systems
You see, there was no basis replying the dude because I knew someone else will counter him. Japan does not have a standing army since their constitution prohibits it. Their post WW2 treaty with America gives the former the right to have a military command within Japan. Though the Japanese constitution allows for a Self-Defence force which aims to protect the maritime and other economic waterways of the Island. However, if war should arise between Japan and its enemies the treaty with America give the US the right to take up the fight. So we can assume that modern Japan is a puppet of the United States military wise.

Since you can't write coherently in the use of English, I'd wager that you're Afrikaan. No? British South Africans write well.

Hell yeah, you'll like black South Africans when your folks just make-up about 8% of the population, yet own almost everything there. And the black who own the country are reduced to slum dwellers in Cape Town, Soweto etc.. Have you got no shame?

The excuse for keeping black folks in black diaspora in slums is that we're minorities. But if in a black country on black soil, blacks are subjected to the same treatment - then, it's highly problematic.

Also, you're barely literate but I'm sure you live a more comfortable life than most educated black South Africans. That to me is utterly shameful.

The current government is bad like you said. But I'd wager that you prefer the apartheid one, with Boers running amok, isn't it? - freaking clown! grin

When are you going to shut the fvck up? Mo.ron!

So, in your own universe, a self-defense force isn't a military, no? Especially one with enormous capabilities, that's more sophisticated than all the military in Africa put together, with an aircraft carrier, a modern navy that's the best in Asia, a modern air force, and a very strong ground force?
