Government doctors are now reasonably well paid but treatment for citizens remain shabby. Government should demand justification for their pay rise. You cannot run a full time business outside govt hospital where you already earn a full time pay. They should either ship in or ship out.

Shut up there Jim Nwobodo. I lost my fiancee to doctor's negliegence because the doctors are ill motivated and they are ill motivated because iiidiots like you in government refuse to provide them the incentives to motivate them to do their job.

If you Jim had done your job instead of embezzling us, I will have my fiancee and would have married this year and be happy and you won't have lost your son as well.

Look into the mirror polithief.

Stage 4 cancer medically speaking has a poor prognosis.

It means the cancer has already metastasized.

For the senator to say his son was cured in the US does not add up.
Many patients in this state are in severe pain and are often depressed.

They are mostly on palliative care, and wish to spend time with their family and loved ones in a familiar environment, this is probably why the deceased opted to return home.

It is an irony that politicians who almost never patronize public hospitals no matter the circumstance will now turn around to blame the doctor for treating a patient in his private practice.

Heart felt prayers to the decease, may the good Lord forgive him his sins, may he encounter God and may he come to His recognition.

Be that as it may, cant feel no sympathy for Jim Nwobodo. He was governor of old Anambra state and he lacked the vision to know that health care is one of the greatest needs of every day Nigerians and so, invest in quality health care for all irrespective of class. He joined hands with his ilks across the nation to plunder the nation's resources and we are where we are today because of the actions and inactions of people like Nwobodo. He could afford to take his sons abroad for medical treatment but majority of us, on everyday basis, have to watch our loved ones, afflicted with same/similar ailments, die because of the collapse in the health sector.

I hope this would be a lesson to the current army of plunderers plaguing our nation, what goes around comes around. Law of retributory justice will always catch up with us all. Keep stealing our resources, amassing stupendous wealth at our expense, there is always a payback time.

Lest I forget, Jim Nwobodo will always be remembered the more not as a governor of Old Anambra State where he perpetrated all sorts of atrocities like according undue favor to his mistress, nor as a former Senator of the federal republic. Jim Nwobodo in my mind will be remembered the more as a man who as minister of Sports, in a rare show of impunity, took the generating set of the National Stadium in Lagos to his country home in far away Anambra

I feel your pains sir and may the soul of your son RIP,but sir that was just a tip of the iceberg that the common man in Nigeria faces in the hands of some criminals in govt hospitals, they always refer unsuspecting patients to their ill equiped hospitals so as to rip them off their money and if possible kill them, thank God you are in govt,I'm waiting to see what you and your colleagues in govt will do about this. Once again RIP to your son.

I'd like to hear from d other party to giv a fair assessment about this issue..
However sir Mr senator, ur son had stage 4 cancer which means they neva offered any definitive treatment where ever he had been attended to outside d country, he was only being palliated..
BTW, why would an elite like ur son present to d hospital so late as in stage 4 cancer

Sorry. You have also experienced the challenges we ordinary citizens face daily.
God bless the dead.

For example;
You get shot and you are taken to the police station without the bullet removed. You may spend weeks there cleaning your would by the police nurse and you may lose the leg.
You get to a hospital and you are not attended too because you don't have cash.
You may also get to a hospital and the doctors shout at you or do not take proper care of you because they feel you are a nobody.
Ordinary citizens are really suffering. Most especially in the rural areas where there are bad roads for ambulances to take the sick to the hospital.
No electricity etc.
I also remember a family of mine was operated without electricity at a critical situation without proper equipments just to save her life.

Dear senator, I feel for you but more strongly I feel for the poor people who die daily because of this so called negligence by the government, the hospitals and the ministry of health.

More people die as result of populace neglect by government and state officials than from doctors neglect. Check out accidents from bad roads, diseases from poor water supply, suffocation from genset fume, and death from insecurity such as armed robbery and insurgence -BH. His case is an exception, that is why it made news. Road accidents and cholera no longer make news.
I am surprised that a former governor and senator who has always been in corridors of power in his attempt to rope in doctors indirectly spoke ill of his dead son who is also a doctor. Doctors of recent have become punch bags for every ill including STAGE 4 MALIGNANCY. May the gentle departed doctor pray for his living colleagues as he rests in peace free from castigation, Joasu et all.
Re: “how Enugu Doctor ‘killed’ My Son’ – Senator Jim Nwobodo by Nobody: 4:14pm On Nov 20, 2014
This is one side of the story. You need to hear the doctor's side,...notice his source of information was only limited to the phone conversation, a lot could have gone down which him(Jim nwobodo) as a lay person will not understand, starting with him saying the cancer is at stage 4, I don't know what cancer it is but most cancers at stage 4 are already advanced. And I know, for sure, that top people like his son don't like public hospital, like UNTH. His son most likely requested to be treated in a private hospital.

Your son killed himself. Why didn't he rest in the United States, where he was cured earlier and asked to rest? He rather chose to come back to Nigeria because he was "homesick."
Take heart. May the dead rest in peace.

You guys may have said your minds the old Jim has said they way he knows and understands probably passing the blame to this oncologist.... Now what if his son choose to be treated in a private hospital instead of UNTH....Jim nwobodo spoke with his son at 5:30 p.m ( after normal work hour) n he told him he is seeing this oncologist this re affirms the fact that Jim's son went to this guys private clinic not UNTH.... Its highly unlikely the guy went first to UNTH n was referred to a private facility. Most importantly stage 4 of any malignancy is TERMINAL. what ever you are doing anywhere in the world is palliative not definitive care by then there is almost always a multi organ involvement! He also said instead of d doctor taking his son to UNTH. by 6p.m. is it the doctors duty? he has closed work n probably at his private facility.. Why didn't u take him to UNTH yourself or instruct any of his relatives around.... Its not just fair trying to blackmail this doctor... Let him go to court if he thinks d Doctor erred. RIP nwobodo Jnr.
