Major expressways and township roads in Asaba, the Delta state capital hub are in a terrible state of disrepair. Watching the traffic on Asaba Onitsha Expressway, a little after the moribund Asaba Textile Mill, the lack of government interest in developing the state capital is palpable. I also went to intracity roads like the DLA and adjacent Jesus Saves Roads and the sights left little drops of tears in my eyes.
I was left asking:
1. Why does this government (Emmanuel Uduaghan's) want to militarise reticent Asaba dwellers by giving them a genuine reason for activism?
2. Does everyone have to take up arms before they could be reckoned with in development planning?
3. Just why is Uduaghan allowing the half constructed roads, launched with funfair by his cousin, chief James Ibori and his friend, then Edo State governor Lucky Igbinedion, to degrade rather than completing them?
4. Should reasonable citizens not start making representations to the government that seems by all indications to have gone on extended vacation?
Below are some of the pictures with captions to help you see why am bitter with this government.

With many Asaba Roads looking like these or worse, the question has continued to agitate the minds of inhabitants of the city. What is offense has Asaba committed to deserve so much disrespect from her rulers. It is on record that Asaba is a one-road city with adjunct access to the town linking the major road, Nnebisi with the Federal Expressway linking Onitsha with Benin. That same lone road is what the administration has abandoned to rot.

1. This is the ever busy Asaba-Onitsha Road. One lane has been abandoned

2. The pothole on the Asaba-Onitsha Road that has reduced a four lane express into one lane

3. Vehicles diverting to the opposite lane because the right side is completely bad

1. Watch how vehicles have to meander through potholes, laterite and flood along DLA Road

2. As seen above, red earth lays a dirty claim to the soul of Asaba roads, DLA Road

3. This portion has weeds competing for residence with the road

4. The end of Jesus Saves Road: half built by Uduaghan's cousin, former Gov Ibori, still uncompleted 6 years after

Nwanne, you must understand the conspiracy there, which is,develop Warri, and under-develop Asaba, because they 'stole' our state capital.

Thìs is why, power MUST shift to Delta North come 2015,and the fight for Anioma state, must be sustained.

This is what you get under PDP administrations. Left for me, I will say you guys should elect Chief Great Ogboru of LP or Professor Pat Utomi of APC. Anything PDP is an epic fail.

You should understand that, powerful people within the ethno-zonal divides of the state, ain't happy with Asaba being the state capital.
They resorted to making Warri the state capital of their dream infrastructurally and economically.whatever wishy-washy development you see in Asaba,is just being done for doing sake.power must go to Delta North, for Asaba to assume her rightful position as state capital.

We are talking of Asaba assuming its pride of place as the capital of the third largest oil bearing state in Nigeria, with close to 22billion monthly allocation from FG.we ain't saying the government ain't doing anything, but the pace with which it is being done, the qaulity of that being done, and the type of thing being done,as a capital of a state, must be redoubled.

where their is a 'will',their is a 'way'.
It takes political-will,to convert such huge monthly allocations,to a world class roads and other good infrastructures.

Under Uduaghah, Delta state as a whole witnessed a lot of underdevelopment. Ibori was better than Uduaghah.

It baffles me, why Governor Uduaghan has decided against completing projects in The whole of Delta state, Go to all parts of the state and you'll see different uncompleted and failed projects, Governor Uduaghan seems to be the worst Governor Delta state has had so far. It's such a shame, And Posterity will judge him and his Family.

Come to Warri, Ughelli,Sapele, Oleh, Agbor, and many small towns in delta, you will find Good roads, Roads under construction and some roads that have not been touched yet. What is your picture trying to say?

The OP, should have presented Asaba in a complete Mode. Not one road and a compound. Even better, Present Asaba before 1999, Asaba in 2003 and Asaba today.

It's so sad that the present government pays little or no concern on infrastructural development. What Asaba is experiencing is nothing when compare to the bad state of some roads in warri; the abandoned avenue road, okere ugborikoko road, esisi road, the juction at cinema site, the abandon flyover at effurun roundabout, effurun warri road and many others.

If one thought the governor is developing warri to the neglect of asaba, he/she needs to think again as no part of the state is experiencing what is called development.

What we should be advocating is for deltans to vote for one who with fairness and equity will develop the state and not a portion of the state as one here is advocating.

Construction of roads in agbor? Which agbor? Is lagos asaba road the only road in agbor? Go to the streets and see how people are suffering. Oya come to asaba and see terrible roads,is it okpanam road or most of the streets in asaba infact asaba looks like a village. No good rroad,no light, nothing to boast of. Emmanuel Eweta is just a disappointment, posterity will judge him and all his supporters who turn blind eyes on his bad goverance especially in delta nortg.
