Tiny and smaller VBL carries the 20mm cannon in Europe. Civilian grade Toyota Hilux carries twin ZSU-23 cannon of 23mm x 2.

What make/brand of engine and chassis is on Igirigi, any info on that please?

Those cannons atop pick-up trucks eventually ruin/ wrecks those trucks. It isn't sustainable, neither are the isolated cannons on the VBL.

The Igirigi is a wedge with overlapping sides, and a ford F-series vehicle. That's the chasis it's built on.

Thanks, we better stick to 14.5mm DshK or 12.7mm Browning for Igirigi.

This is a major problem for our military. There are too many 14.5mm's in this conflict.

They could, however, it would be susceptible to enemy ground fire. Police and border patrol would be more like it.

With Nigeria, expect the very best and worst. It's just best to keep an open mind. I remember at the Air Expo in 2012 this company, Dana had a Donier DO-228 surveillance plane on display, at the time, I had no idea the company was based in Nigeria, so I didn't take much interest in the aircraft.

The thing is, what's to say the Airforce hadn't already purchased a couple of them.

There are nigerian aeronautical companies / institutes who can retrofit these aircrafts for recon or any other use.

Nigerian airforce aeronautical company limited
Donier aviation nigeria aiep
Sabena techniques nigeria LTD
AFIT, all though an institute, can also do the job.

Otokar Akrep used primarily by Turkey and 15 other nations(including Israel, Pakistan, Georgia, the united states and Morocco) as a scout car, recon, perimeter control, escort, light attack and counter-terror/ counter-insurgency vehicle.

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 3:30pm On Nov 24, 2014
Nigeria Proforce PF2 MKII

The PF2 is very similar to the Otokar akrep, in many ways it looks better and sturdier than the Akrep. A local alternative to replace all soft-skin vehicles in N.A COIN service.

Nigerian Airforce

NAF original C-130 fleet = 9
NAF current fleet. = 8
NAF current operational fleet = 6
C-130 lost to crash = 1

* C-130 resuscitated and put back into service by Nigerian Engineers = 2.

It was a Donier DO-228, used for medvac, not a C-130. The accident happened in Yola, not borno.
