For the emboldened, I don't go after that. See, when you sharpen your domain sense and are able to spot quality domain names, you will often find yourself in a battle with other domainers.

MarketingCorp.com--- I bidded and found myself in a bidding war with other domainers. It closed at about $380

FitnessAddiction.com I bidded and there was a serious bidding war. It closed at $305. Na thunder go fire the buyer of this one angry

HempWear.com... I found this one and there was another bidding war. It closed $1115 or there about.

FitnessLounge.com. I placed a back order and but my backorder company couldnt catch it. It landed at another BO company and in auction. it closed at the auction for $1815

PeninsulaTrucking.com I wanted to hand register this one but someone backordered it. I didnt place a backorder for some reasons because my background check and research has some rather confusing stats and information.

I just placed another Backorder on another domain.

What guides my choice of domain , you ask?

RESEARCH and STATS.

Mind you, I didnt win any of the names above because they went above the level I am comfortable with--my risk to reward.

A brief history on this names above.

MarketingCorp.com
Saw MarketingCorp.com and I knew it would be an instant hit if I could lay my hands on it. Mind you, this has no search volume. I check and noticed the wide use of the main keyword in almost every top marketing website and it was taken in some other extensions. And then, I had to take the dive but couldnt withstand the bidding heat.

FitnessAddiction.com

I was winning this until a fool angry came around to place over $250 bid on the name. I tried to $300 but he placed another bid and so, I left the name for him.

What guided my choice for this one? Research and stats. It was taken in many extension and used in conjuction with other words in some cases.

HempWear.com

Without being told, Hemp is hot cake right now and the best Hemp words are highly sought after.

FitnessLounge.com

I lost this one because my backorder company couldn't get the name. Why did I pick this one? Too many websites were using the keywords in the name and it is taken in other extension.

PeninsulaTrucking.com This one had some confusing information that I dont have the time to start writing about them. I didnt want to backorder it because it didnt seem like a good domain to risk more than $5 on.

Keyword+Factory.com is my recent hunt and will be dropping tomorrow. Why did I pick this one? It is taken is some many extension and it is a nice brand domain.

Above all, non of these names have search volume. Then why are people fighting for them... because they have brand value and appeal. Therefore, a domain does not have to have search volume to be valuable.

If I had won all the names or at least 3 of them, I would have made as much as over $5000. No jokes cool

Sorry to ask this, how will I search and know that a name has been registered with other extensions?

Thanks.

check whois.com or who.is, search any version/ extension of a domain to know if it is registered or available, e.g nairaland.com, nairaland.+net, nairaland.org, nairaland. Info etc, if u search on dis domain (nairaland) u will discovered it has been registered in different extension
Thanks Chibenze but whois no longer displays info about a name.

Good day bosses in the house, this name mobilelot.com is available for sale at sedo at the rate of $2500, meanwhile, I don't have a sedo account yet.
What could have happened for such occurrence?

Thanks to you all.

Input the domain into who.is and you can easily see the other extension it is taken in if that's the case.

For instance, go to who.is and type the following domain in there:

MarketingCorp.com

FitnessAddiction.com

FitnessLounge.com

However, that's not what determine my decisions initially. As a matter of fact, na Chibenze dey do that one when I share info with him regarding what I want to buy. He just go digging around and later come to tell me that so and so are taken in other extensions. Which further let me know that the domain will be highly sought after. One thing is that the more a domain is taken in more than 3 extension, the more valuable it becomes.

There is a domain a someone own that is taken ins virtually all extension, as matter of fact, one of the biggest file storage site is on his neck to sell to them.

The one I am hoping that my Pheenix should catch today is taken in .net, .org, .ca, .nl, .ie , .co.uk

As a matter of fact, the .com, which is the king in this case, had been registered since 1996 according to my background check and it was used only by one company based in Canada until 2011. I could still see the sites and what it was used for a few minutes ago. Little one when a competitor was to start, they opted for the .ca instead of the .com because .com wasn't available. So, All I am going to do is wait to see if my backorder company will win this one and I can then turn around to sell to any of the extensions above. That was the plan for Fitnesslounge, FitnessAddiction and MarketingCorp.com unfortunately, I didn't get any of those.

We will keep on at it.

Hello Guys...

We all know that Escrow.com does not accept Nigerians.

The good news is that there seem to be a new service with a very simple interface available now that we all can enjoy and use for our escrow service.

That's DN.com I just signed up a few minutes ago and it was pretty sleek and simplified.

Goodluck smiley

This happened around September last year when I registered the name, as a newbie, I checked if the name will still be available which I checked on godaddy, whois and I found out that the registrant is me, when I checked on sedo the same time, I saw it to be available and is up for $2,500 dollars I was surprised. I later contacted gcfr who asked to check if the whois information belongs to me which I answered yes, and he told me not to panic.
Ever since then, it has been there till now so I don't really know what could have led to this.

Yes it is still in my account. I checked whois now and the displayed information belongs to me.
I cannot sell at that price, meanwhile, the name is 1year and 2months old now. Unless you will pay N350,000

Stop bothering yourself. The previous owner listed it on Sedo and forgot to delete it after it expired. If you want to add it to your Sedo account (which you don't have), Sedo will just ask you to verify that you are now the owner by sending them a screenshot of the whois showing your account details.

It happens all the time. Chilax!

The buyer pays the money to Sedo and Sedo takes their cut before giving you your own cut. Simple!
