If you are told to just kneel down and carry you bag it not punishment especially in public school its just an 'advice', If you are being punished then you will understand the meaning of punishment in those type of schools.

I wonder who this mod is, and the poster too! During my sec.sko days if I could get this I will kneel and kiss the feet of the person punishing me.
no wonder there's little discipline in the young children of today, imagine what d poster said, go to the school and fight the teacher right?

These kids came late to school and they have been asked to kneel down at the point they were caught. That explains the knapsacks they are carrying. No biggie

I don't know what is wrong with this generation and over indulgence of children. I don't see this as child abuse or punishment at all.
Compared to what my generation passed through in Isale eko grammar school between 1986-91, this is childs's play in the hands of our teachers like Mr Bello, Mr John, Mr MAO, Mr Afoloabi or Baba Nwosu. But look at how most of us tunrned out in life..
At least I'm praying for those teachers today and especially my parentd for not holding the teachers or dragging them to police station for child abuse and those teachers are proud of how some of us turned out from the most notorious college in those days.
So please, punishment within reason aint bad for our kids pls.

Stupid African mentality since 1759. I received all forms of physical criminal abuse in my secondary school, it never instilled any form of discipline in me rather, i grew stubborn and bitter. Despite all this bullshit Nigerian educational system is rubbish. Americans don't do this yet they have better society, our professional illiterate teachers will not understand why this is so.

Aside the fact that it gives sadists an outlet to satisfy their depraved sadistic urges all in the name of punishment; i think the main problem with corporal punishment is that when you keep on flogging and beating a child when he's done something wrong -as all children do from time to time- he or she soon becomes inured to the whole experience and develops a dismissive attitude to what others may think of his bad behaviour; kinda like: 'after all they'll just flog me and that's the end of it'!

We all know of that boy in primary or secondary school that could take a flogging like he was just being patted on the bum for good behaviour! shocked I remember one of such in my secondary school: always stubborn; hyper; dodging class; had no fear of the cane......and there was a near general consensus among teachers and students alike that dude was a major pain in the butt! Suffice it to say that there was this one teacher that never flogged anyone that he always respected like she was his Mum, and when he thought nothing of disrespecting the Principal (even with the threat of a flogging) or other staff during one of his numerous 'meltdowns' or 'moments of madness', this particular teacher was the only one that could talk sense into his stubborn head!

So you see, it's better to develop a relationship with a child/pupil based on mutual respect and love rather than threats of violence; this way they would think twice before doing anything naughty as they'd feel they would be letting you down if they went ahead with it; a child would not want to disappoint someone they know cares for their well-being! Ever wonder why Nigeria is so full of thugs and sadistic twerps?......If you check well, most of these peeps would have been dehumanized with beatings and punishments while growing up and may have had a childhood lacking in love!

@Op, why is the whole students not there? Common naw, do you want there teachers to rub their heads n says well done my child after disobeying school rules n regulations. Please come off it. Besides that punishment is not too much. And remind you this is Nigeria..... You know the rest.

I don't know the name of this school but someone sent the picture to me.

And only God can tell why secondary school students should be kneeling down under the sun lifting heavy bags.

God help Nigerians. Shouldn't this be illegal? I know someone can't to this to my child if they want to see d next day.

What are your thoughts on this?

When did kneeling down become a crime ?

yes oo! but when I became the head boy, things changed. those still in the school will never forget me for saving them from the cruel hands of those punishments.

another was that you will draw a car on the board and you will be asked to push the car to the other end of the board, failure to do so= 5strokes of a well oiled dongo yaro cane.

all in a private school o! paying 295,000 per term.

The highlighted is true. There's need for moderation in all things.....Just that some teachers could go the extra mile, like that Uganda minder. embarassed

I was in the clinic yesterday when an high school girl was rushed in (emergency) she fainted while a teacher was wiping her. I guess, this is one of the reasons why the government/parents advocate, No to corporal punishment.
